    – still super misogynistic- why are the men feminine? they could have made masculinity the “weak” trait while femininity is seen as superior but clearly the writers can’t imagine that – is this movie feeding off misogynistic men’s fear of women in power? – 1 star for misandrist rosamund pike being hot and “childless cat man”

Pope Beatrice III returns to the Vatican today. I actually did like this one despite its inability to be anything more than a cliche. Thea Sharrock’s Ladies First, written by Natalie Krinsky, Katie Silberman, and Cinco Paul, dissects and analyzes men and women as social machines – showing us a world where men are seen as lesser than or objectified and women are the ones sitting on the couch with a glass of wine rubbing their crotches. However, the French…

I’ve read a lot of other people’s reviews and it seems that nobody really understood the point of the film. Misogyny is ingrained in a lot of people’s minds that a film like this can only be seen as a negative target towards males rather than an opportunity for males to grow. People need to remember that this film was created because sexism is still happening today. Only the actions of males need to change for sexism to truly be destroyed.

This film belongs in 2016. I get the message it was going for but like in this universe where women are in charge, did no one invent subtlety? It had some good jokes but I do think that it was a painful watch written by someone silly.

This movie wasn’t about how life would be like with matriarchy, it was about how men treat women. Aside from the comedy, the women acting like men made me feel so uncomfortable, it wasn’t funny at all because that’s how it really is. I think if it hadn’t had the romance part and wasn’t even a comedy at all it would be much better of a movie.

But as you can see, it ended up being garbage anyway. Idk what the purpose of this movie was but imo the only thing it succeed at is making me wildly uncomfortable… Why did the women have to become men for this man to finally respect them?? And why was being feminine portrayed as being weaker? Bruh i had high hopes for this plot One and a half stars for seeing a man also being uncomfortable throughout the whole movie

Been hearing how this movie is very dated, and they’re right but trust me it’s much worst then that. This movie is woke garbage, it’s dated and the worst part is it’s not funny. Sacha baron cohen actually has good comedic timing but unfortunately the script is shit and it falls flat. Something about the quality of this film feels off too. Some scenes have the background way out of focus and looks slightly warped for no reason. This movie managed to hurt Sacha baron cohen AND Rosamind Pike just to fuel the stupid Netflix woke slop machine. – 3.25/10

As a 6,5 feminist I felt genuinely seen. As a proud advocate of women, it was refreshing to watch a film that doesn’t just include strong women — it centres them and lets their leadership drive the entire tone of the story. The film radiates confidence in women’s capability, and I found myself nodding along, thinking, yes, this is exactly what happens when women are allowed to lead without being dismissed or second‑guessed. What I loved most was how naturally…

Firstly, I don’t blame the acting talent here at all – Cohen, Pike, Shaw and the rest all deliver committed turns and provide most of the film’s true laugh-out-loud moments. This is a surprisingly…

Good movie, it took a real life problem and flipped it. Women being subject to objectification, sexualisation, and dehumanisation is a real life problem and Thea Sharrock took that and gave us a comedy which showed what it would be like if women were jn the position men is and vice versa. Its a good way to get the point across that women are mistreated as when watching the movie you can see how horrible it is for the men.…

An expected switchero, but done with an inch more interest, and hence provides some interesting ideas. Though the humor is predictable and falls flat, the chemistry between Sacha Cohen and Rosamund Pike was cute to see. Nuance is something that is fully lacking, and the message is hit over your head with a mallet, but looking beyond that surface level, there was an idea there that could have been dealt with more poise and would have been a good watch.
