For a film called Kid Vengeance, you’d think they would actually make sure it involves some worthwhile vengeance. The revenge plot the film sets up early on is believable, but unfortunately it’s so poorly executed and written that I couldn’t connect. Having to follow this child (Leif Garrett—who did way better with less in God’s Hand) in seeking those who wronged him and his family becomes quite the chore as not only is he not a good actor, but the script offers so many chances for him to capitalise upon, but to no avail. Macaulay Culkin this kid is certainly not, lacking in both aplomb and any intrigue. Perhaps had he been more brutal and swift with his vengeance, this…

It’s like stripped Home Alone in the Spaghetti West where the kids is out for revenge and the entire desert is his house.

Do you REALLY like Leif Garrett? Then have I got a movie for you! …Also, please leave. I normally appreciate the Golan Globus Lemon Popsickle approach to wildly clashing elements and inappropriate flavor – but going in hoping for some Jim Brown / Lee Van Cleef goodness, this underwhelmed. Pop idol Garrett is in earshot as his mother is sexually assaulted by Van Cleef, meanwhile his father is gunned down by John Marley… playing a Mexican (…), and their gang abducts Garrett’s sister for the slave trade. Ineffective when it actually mattered, fortunately Garrett is a master tracker – one of his many hunting virtues extolled by his Dad who seems to beam with a wingmanesque pride of the boy…

From Golan-Gobas Productions comes a colour spaghetti western directed by Joseph Manduke. It 🌟 s Lee Van Cleef turning in some cool third act performance Jim Brown Glynnis O’Connor & Lief Garrett as the kid. What’s missing is a memorable soundtrack like the Good the Bad & the Ugly. Still a solid popcorn western.

I watched this because I thought it was a Jim Brown/Lee Van Cleef spaghetti western, but it turns out it’s a Cannon Group Death-Wish-in-the-West spaghetti western starring 15-year old Leif Garrett. It’s far less interesting than it sounds. Van Cleef is fairly neutered as a bandito/rapist, and Jim Brown is barely in the thing, though as always he upstages everyone else when on-screen. Garrett isn’t particularly bad, but the action is pretty boring, and the fairly standard climax stands up simply by virtue of being better than everything that preceded it. There’s a great moment than bookends the film, but if you want a Jim Brown western, or a Lee Van Cleef western, you have better options. Hell, just watch Take a Hard Ride, which also features fellow blaxploitation stars Fred Williamson and Jim Kelly, whose character is wisely mute.

One of two attempts by Golan & Globus to make a late- cycle spaghetti western this like God’s Gun stars Lee Van Cleef and Leif Garrett. It’s pretty cheap looking and contains little in the way of style but it’s kind of fun watching the gang members being taken out one by one though Jim Brown is completely wasted in his role.

This is the 2nd movie I’ve seen in the past week where a gun toting child obliterates someone with a rifle. Decent little spaghetti western. Leif Garrett is pretty great as the bad ass kid with revenge in his heart.

2018 Cult Movie Challenge Week 11 – Spaghetti Western Week Progress – 16/52 Sort of a middling western that doesn’t feature enough of either Lee Van Cleef or Jim Brown. Leif Garrett plays a young kid who witnesses his parents getting brutally murdered by Van Cleef’s gang, and with the help of Brown (who had his gold stolen by the gang) tries to rescue his sister and seek revenge on the killers. This doesn’t bring anything new to the table really, which isn’t a problem in itself, but there wasn’t anything memorable that happened in it that will stay with you. The soundtrack is pretty good, so maybe if that’s your thing you’ll enjoy it. Garrett has some decent moments…

Back before puberty sets in and boys, girls, birds and bees consume us, what do we fantasize about? I know when I was a kid, I used to dream about rescuing pretty ladies and being a bad ass hero type. There was nothing sexual about any of it, but it was generally where my mind went when it drifted off into daydreams. If I had seen Kid Vengeance at that age it would have 100% been my jam. A kid on his own out in the old west seeking revenge against the gang who killed his folks. Whittling the outlaws down until all that’s left is the Big Bad Lee Van Cleef. I kind of hate that this one got…

After Lee Van Cleef’s gang kills his parents and abducts his sister, game-tracking prodigy Leif Garrett teams up with claim-jumped prospector Jim Brown to enact the titular vengeance. I don’t know why I keep watching these pre-’80s Golan-Globus joints. Before the duo hit on their recipe for gaudy auteurism, they were mostly just aping familiar tropes with no particular style or flair. This one is reasonably well put-together, but except for an ugly rape sequence and the slight novelty of teenage Garrett in the lead, this plot could easily pass for any number of early John Wayne or Yakima Canut matinee vehicles. There are some half-hearted feints at casting Garrett as a classic pacifist-driven-to-violence, but the script isn’t about to…

As I watch more and more 1970s movies i realize that theres somrthing about that decade where they love to put wayyyy too much stuff in one movie. This needed a more straight forward approach in my opinion. I couldnt help but wish this movie was more like Chato’s Land starring a pissed off child. I will say I was pleasantly surprised though. When i saw the title I expected some childish stuff but then our lead child beats a…

Garrett might have peaked with Devil Time Five a few years later. This western has Lee Van Cleef looking like Willie Nelson, who kills Garrett’s father and rapes and shoots his mother. Then, this angelic blond boy walks the West to get his vengeance with the help of Jim Brown. Alas, the movie sounds like it could have been fun, but it is so slow.

Lee Van Cleef being as cool as can be sporting an earring and Peckinpah-esque bandana. Jim Brown rules. Some of the funniest side characters in any Spaghetti Western (although shot in Israel). Beautiful ending sequence.

Ok honestly? Weirdly good……… there were a lot of good supporting characters in this and it didn’t feel empty when the kids chasing everyone around. Especially loved lvc being a murderous old rapist but also after acquiring this girl just defaulting into pissed off reluctant dad mode. I loved how mouthy she got to be, that was a fun change from a lot of the stock characters! What was lvc’s outfit though. What was that.

Some of the worst shootouts, acting, editing, camerawork and directing I have seen in a spaghetti western; on top of the aforementioned, you get another helping of Leif Garrett’s cutesy theatrics, a subpar soundtrack, a preposterously plodding storyline and Lee Van Cleef looking like some 1970s hippie butt pirate. Some television productions of the era look superior to the kind of mortifying, slipshod appearance this endeavor exhibits and it is unbelievable how worthless the entire thing feels. God’s Gun was…

Golan and Globus also produced a Western, God’s Gun, starring Leif Garrett and Lee Van Cleef in which Garrett was mentored by Cleef. The producers paid Garrett to stay in Israel for two months until filming began on that movie, which was released before this. Kid Vengeance stars both of them but in totally different roles, as Garrett is Tom, who watched Van Cleef’s McClain murder most of his immediate family, getting gang member Jesus (John Marley) to shoot dad…

Often Django and occasionally The Apple Dumpling Gang, which did not mix but I’ve decided I liked both the movies in this movie. There are lucky coincidences, such as with Isaac showing up in places he does. There is unnecessary, blunt reiteration of the unmissable theme and of the only philosophy being imparted. I didn’t overlook these things, I still don’t much appreciate them when they occur. I just find that this has enough going on elsewhere to elevate it…

Surprisingly good. Perhaps Leif Garrett could act. The two buffoons and their comic relief I could’ve done without and Jim Brown could’ve been used more but overall not bad. Perhaps the best thing about it was the manner in which the kid picked off various of the outlaws. Glynnis O’Connor looked good and Lee Van Cleef – in one of his final westerns – looked cool. But John Marley as a Spaniard? No.

Insane movie with so much bloodshed and revenge. Kid goes on a rampage for revenge against the people that killed his parents and kidnapped his sister. Meets a friend Isaac along the way. Rootin, tootin, shootin and very tragic finale.

Wild West Summer 2023 Prompt 16. A Western With Less Than 250 Views. Kid Vengeance feels like a spaghetti western at times, but in a good way. I realize that it’s Cannon movie, so that definitely contributes to some of the more pulpy aspects. Overall, it’s a very good “revenge” western.

Not the debacle that is GOD’S GUN, this other Golan & Globus western with Lee Van Cleef isn’t so great either, but plays reasonably well within its limitations. Van Cleef is an out and out villain this time. It’s not a challenging role, but his patented presence makes the difference (and no bad rug here). Jim Brown is also fine, though whoever cast John Marley as a Mexican should have reconsidered that choice. Marley’s interpretation was apparently so bad, he’s been…

One of the most Badass and unsung spaghetti westerns every made with a wonderful cast led by Jim Brown and Lee Van Cleef. This is a more violent version of Home Alone set against a stark western landscape where a kid gets bloody revenge against the bandits that killed his family, and he teams up with Jim for an explosive conclusion!

This is a western. A gang of bandits come across a family and the wife is raped and then murdered, along with her husband. Their 12 or so year old son was away when this happened, and he goes off in search of them and his missing teen sister. Jim Brown is a miner who also falls afoul of the gang, and together they hunt them down.

Hard to take this big, bad band of outlaws seriously when they’re getting punked by a 9 year old the whole movie.

#Junesploitation day 02: Westerns! “Maybe, but if I’m gonna die, I’m not gonna do it alone.” A surprisingly affecting performance from Leif Garrett. Solid Jim Brown. But Lee Van Cleef kinda sleep-walked thru this one.

Lee Van Cleef’s second western with Leif Garrett for Golan-Globas. Both standard affairs (at best), both most memorable for Van Cleef’s ‘looks’: the lightly crimped long hair in God’s Gun; headband and hoop earring here.

Last of the Van Cleef westerns. Lee Van Cleef (THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY) leads a brutal gang of outlaws. Jim Brown (THE DIRTY DOZEN) is a prospector being pursued by another less competent gang. Van Cleef’s gang kills Leif Garrett’s father, rape and kill Garrett’s mother, and unwittingly abduct his sister. Brown is robbed (and that gang is in turn robbed by Van Cleef). Garrett takes his bow and arrow and becomes the title character. He finds Brown (who had befriended his family) and the two go after the gold and the girl.

Lee Van Cleef’s last Western appearance at the very end of the Italian Western boom years is a solid, frequently quite enjoyable little genre effort. McClain (Van Cleef) and his gang of desperados make the big mistake of killing the parents and kidnapping the older sister of young Tom Thurston (Leif Garrett), setting him on a trail of vengeance to kill them all. He is later joined by gold prospector Isaac (Jim Brown) when that same gang steals all his…

This Golan & Globus production, also called Vendetta or Take Another Hard Ride, is one of two spaghetti westerns costarring Lee Van Cleef and Leif Garrett. Even though it also has Jim Brown in it, it somehow manages to be the worse of the two (the other being God’s Gun).
