Not gonna argue with most of the criticisms people have of this one but I’m sorry it gets the setup out of the way quickly and then transitions into basically 70 straight minutes of solid, mean monster mayhem/survival setpiece machinery courtesy of Johnston. Sometimes all you’re looking for is sturdy, economical photography of dinosaurs murdering people. It’s kind of insane how badly they messed this simple formula up with the World movies.

I like this one, it has lots of dinosaurs in it, but minus a million points for the fact that after the army shows up there’s no army vs. dinosaur fight, I mean come on.

For me this is a flawed but fun movie. I am always entertained when watching this movie. The plane crash sequence is very intense. I love the scenes with the velociraptors. The dinosaur action in this movie is some of the best in the franchise. That being said, again some of the characters decision making is extremely questionable and illogical. The plot is also very thin, but it is a fun enough movie for me to want to re-watch.

Als dann Joe Johnston beim dritten Teil auf dem Regiestuhl übernahm sank auch die Qualität merklich ab wie man gleich in der Intro Szene mit dem Parasailing vor dem Greenscreen deutlich sehen konnte. Nichtsdestotrotz mag ich den Abenteuerfilm der mit seinen deutlich kürzeren 92 Min. durchgehend unterhält und mit seinem Vogelkäfig und den Pteranodon nochmals frische Ideen in Petto hat. Habe mich im Kino zu keiner Sekunde gelangweilt was natürlich mitunter auch an der Rückkehr des alten Casts aus dem meisterhaften Originals lag und Sam Neill den Film fantastisch trägt. Nur der sprechende Raptor in der Traumsequenz ist bis heute vielen Fans sauer aufgestoßen.

Shame that Amanda didn’t get eaten… every time (until the end) you don’t want to make noise she start whaling. Absolutely infuriating. One of the more recognisable Jurassic Parks, felt like this was always on TV around dinner time on a Sunday. Still really enjoyable even though there’s some let’s say interesting plot holes… Wish we had Dr Malcom featuring though. Makes every moment of avoiding being eaten entertaining. 3.3/5

Very funny that there was Krackel product placement in The Lost World, and Crunch product placement in this one. Those crisped rice candy bars just love dinosaurs I guess. Anyway, this is once again pretty dull and occasionally dumb. Also features an obnoxious and unrealistically smart child, who I hated. Crazy that out of 7 movies (and counting), only the first one is good.

This movie feels kind of half-assed and there are a lot of decisions that were made to make this feel weak, even compared to the previous sequel which wasn’t great either. At least that one had Jeff Goldblum. This feels like a much smaller film, especially since the cast is so small this time around. Disaster films work better on a larger scale, not a smaller one. It also sacrifices any character work for a continuous dinosaur chase which can make the movie seem more like a theme park attraction than a traditional movie.

Voy a decir a su favor, que dura poco y va al grano. Pero a cambio tienen al matrimonio más insoportable que recuerde. No se, es entretenida supongo, pero ya no queda nada del espíritu de la original. Es puramente ver a dinosaurios por verles. Tampoco me convence nada lo de hacer a los velociraptors seres extremadamente inteligentes. Organizarse en manadas, perfecto. Such a stupid movie that it’s honestly hilarious. The whole plot of two parents pretending to be millionaires just to trick Alan Grant into helping them find their missing son is so fucking ridiculous, and that’s basically the entire movie.
