Easily the weakest WICK; John’s journey out of existential Hell is largely abandoned for an entire movie dedicated to writing itself out of the cliffhanger from the last one. But nobody’s shooting action like this: the clean display of athleticism, the sheer vicious glee of the violence, the truly dazzling use of color and cornball symbolism. I’d love it if the part 4 that this is so clearly promising ditched the mythology and went back to basics, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t an absolute blast.

spent the first 20 minutes or so discussing whether or not the John Wick franchise could be considered a comedy, and while i feel like the dialogue leans too heavily into the drama/action, SO much of the physicality of these movies, especially 2 and 3, is clearly designed to be as funny as it is impressive. i mean, how do you not scream-laugh at the knife fight or the sheer amount of glass shattering in the third act? i giggle a little every single time keanu uses something new to smack away someone’s hand right as they’re firing a gun. it doesn’t feel like it fits alongside any other movie you’d call a comedy or an action comedy, and maybe…

It’s just turning into a Keanu being a badass series. Great action as expected, really liked the ninja guys they were really cool. Liked all the locations in the movie and the ending sets up a good story.

Weakest of the trilogy; the lack of a primary revenge target was a noticeable absence. Even so, loved several things, such as the “Knife Throwing” sequence (perhaps the best in the franchise so far) and Winston’s masterstroke—managing to regain his position, give John a chance to live and fight another day, and annoy the High Table all at once. P.S. Asia Kate Dillon is lowkey hot here. P.S.2. Would love to see The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian Vs. John.
