Not exactly as bad as I was expecting it to be, and I generally think it’s a much more entertaining entry than 2, even if I miss Scheider’s awesome presence. Don’t be mistaken, though, this isn’t a good film in any sense. It’s a mess, mainly relating to its ridiculous 3D visuals and its stupid shark effects, which take away any suspense or tension found in the first two. It’s a very campy film and indulges in just about every ’80s excess, with the cheap spectacle radiating off the screen. It’s surprisingly not remotely boring, though, and it’s a pleasant enough, enjoyable watch. I especially dug what Quaid brought to the role here, even if all the characters are written as thin as possible. Kinda shit still as a film, and maybe more so when you compare it to the original Jaws, but as itself, it’s an entertaining, trashy ’80s mess.

Lol rep cinema in Toronto is getting out of hand. A lot of water skiing and dolphins in this one. Largely alternates between being insanely dull and amusingly weird, and has some atrocious FX work that circles back around to being fun. Better than the Jurassic World movies, I guess? [35mm] [3D]

#21 See the shark in the poster? That’s Bruce, watching over us from what seems to be shark heaven. We can’t quite see his face, but my guess is he’s probably weeping. Do sharks cry, Bruce? We’re so sorry. Rest in peace, Bruce.. And rest in peace, the Jaws franchise.

A movie involving a sea world shark attack and starring Dennis Quaid should’nt be this boring/uninteresting but here we are. Fascinating that there’s people out there who think this is better than Jaws: The Revenge. It’s not.

Dennis Quaid says he was on cocaine for every shot he’s in, which is wild considering he drives a car, jet ski, and a scuba/sub thing in this movie.

Jaws 3 is ridiculous but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the heck out of it. A 3-D great white in a water park? With D. Quaid? And Louis Gossett Jr? And every adorable 80s cliche imaginable? And you get to see from inside the shark’s mouth as he swallows a guy? Sign me up for this lumbering beast of a ride. Jaws 3 and Friday the 13th Part 3 would make for an insane double watch. Typically for a double you want two peanut butter and jelly type flavors that are different textures but taste great together. These two films would be a hearty fluff sandwich. Sometimes a double dose of fluff hits the right spot.

Oh Lordy, the sped up footage of the shark and poorly comped in underwater special effects. The British dude was so irritating. “Don’t do anything to traumatise him.” Um, maybe don’t try to keep him in captivity you absolute loon. The only horror here is SeaWorld. Jurassic Park but with a shark.

Rotten Tomatoes: 10% Metacritic Metascore: 27 IMDB: 3.7 35/100 Shark Week Mike Brody: “White sharks are dangerous. I know ’em. My father, my brother, myself. They’re murderers.” It’s hard for me to admit that this film actually scared me when I first saw it as an 8-year-old, mainly due to the cheapish 3D effect of Overmann’s arm lifelessly floating toward the screen when he is killed trying to fix the gate… lol. It’s definitely funny to laugh about it in hindsight because now I obviously see it for the total shitshow that it is and just view it in the context of being one of the best-worst films ever made. If you were around in 1983 and actually saw this…

Day 24 of monthly challenge: watch one movie per day that primarily has the Ocean as its setting. This is the first movie for this week’s double feature with the second movie being Vantage Point. Both films feature Dennis Quaid who was the random pick from the first movies cast and crew details to be the focus of this week’s double feature. Plot: SeaWorld finds itself dealing with a crisis when a giant great white gets trapoed in the park,…

This is only a Jaws sequel because the boyfriend of the main character is the son of the main character of Jaws 1 and 2 but putting that aside it is just a bad film. For most of its runtime I’d say it’s similar to Jaws 2, doing quick and fast kills where the shark pops in and out hiding rather than the long, tense sequences of the original. However, it begins to drop below Jaws 2 in the end…

Jaws 3 struggles to recapture the magic of the original, with a ridiculous premise and some questionable effects making it a difficult film to take seriously. There are a few entertaining moments, but overall it’s a pretty underwhelming sequel.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this, and with good reason given the reputation of this film being absolutely terrible. But is it? Sure, it severely tarnishes the Jaws name… But… 90% of the movie itself isn’t that bad. Ignore the hokey 3-D effects they shoehorn in whenever possible. Change the name to Sea World Shark Attack or Shark Park… etc etc. and perhaps history rewrites itself. The cast gives it their all, and until the really awful ending that is simply laughable… it held my interest. Not the worst shark movie I’ve ever seen, not by a long shot.

I was lucky enough to see this opening day, with the 3d glasses and all. I know it doesn’t work in non 3d, but in 3d on that summer day it worked gloriously. Even the famous shot of the great white busting through the glass in the control room was peak cinema. As they often say, you had to be there. I was blessed with the Jaws Lego set for my birthday and where Jaws and Jaws 2 got us through building the Orca boat, Jaws 3 got us through building the shark. Quite satisfying putting all the pieces together that shouldn’t work but somehow do to create an impressive looking great white. Speaking of pieces not working together… oh hey Jaws 3. Dennis Quaid is insufferable and needy. I always knew the characters weren’t great but this watch specifically I…

I had to watch this at some point. Went in with no other expectations than that this is a bad movie. Aaand it’s pretty bad. But not as terrible as I feared. It has its moments for sure. Some of the more intense scenes worked out well. When Brody has to get the boats and the skiers out of the lagoon. That was probably cool because we almost didn’t see the shark in that sequence. Most of the other scenes…

How did we go from the first two films to this? I can’t believe it. Jaws 3-D feels more like a low-budget made for TV copycat than a true sequel. Going in on the 3D aspect when it was truly awful in the 80s is another mistake. I thought Dennis Quaid being in this would lend it some strength, but he appears young and inexperienced here. The fact that he is supposed to be Mike Brody is glossed over and…

Sfido chiunque a non rompersi gli zebedei i primi 30 minuti di questo film, perché non succede assolutamente niente di niente. Jaws 3-D is one of those movies where you watch it and wonder, “How did we go from Jaws to this?” The original Jaws is a masterpiece. It has suspense, great characters, memorable dialogue, and a shark that feels genuinely terrifying because you don’t always see it. Jaws 3-D, on the other hand, feels like a cheap theme-park attraction stretched into a movie. The biggest problem is the 3-D. Instead of making the movie more immersive, it constantly feels like…

This is undeniably where the franchise took its fall. I watched all four movies on two different days back in 2021, and when I got to this one, it was a disaster of epic proportions.

the shark in this one was way ahead of its time when it comes to hating/doing terrorism on SeaWorld. they killed the shark for this back in 1983 but in the mid-2010s they would’ve rewarded it with a key to the city, possibly made it mayor or even governor. anyway, by far the worst Jaws movie

I really don’t like shark films and this one was even worse. The 3-D effects feel incredibly dated and the whole film was just stressful and unpleasant to watch. It also felt much less interesting than the original.
-
M
What’s worse, this film or Sea World? Just kidding, they’re both terrible. The effects are abysmal, the second half is boring and poorly executed, and I struggled almost as much to care about the characters as FitzRoyce struggled to get out of the way of the slowest shark attack in film history. It didn’t start off bad, aside from the awful 3D effects (since I watched without 3D capability), but for me, it really fizzled out. Though I will say that the final shark kill is a little bit cooler than Revenge.

Can the shark jump over itself? Extremely boring for over an hour. Then, it turns into an episode of The Benny Hill Show for about five minutes. Then it’s boring again. Then the movie ends. Also, probably the slowest, most lethargic shark ever. It would have probably died on its own if the movie had been 5 minutes longer.

This movie is entirely half baked and half assed which even during this second wave of 3D movies, there really aren’t many reasons to be watching in 3D. I refuse to believe this had a budget of $20M. Maybe it would’ve been better in a theater? It still should’ve been edited for later at home viewings though. The editing is fucking abysmal junk. Jaws 3-D is a sequel with a concept that could easily be great, but fails in almost every way imaginable. This is honestly written and set up well for an idea of a third entry. But outside of some vibrant colors during the daytime sequences, this contains some of the worst visuals I’ve…

I finally found the worst film ever made. This played nonstop on HBO back in the 80s and the effects were so bad I remember they unsettled me. I couldn’t look directly at it. The Jaws series is so interesting because the story is ultimately so simple and so dumb. It really lets you sort of key in on the magic of a once-in-a-lifetime magic of a generational director, composer, and cast. Because here’s the thing: this movie is not nearly as bad as its reputation. It’s *competently* directed. The cast has some skills (I like Quaid in a lot of movies). The soundtrack is not a million miles away from what Williams does.…

Wow, this is a serious childhood deep cut. The Jaws movies have always had a special place with me, from the highs of the original to the absolute chaos of Jaws 3-D. A shark attacking SeaWorld sounds like it should be a great setup, but the forced 80s 3D and technical limitations really drag it down. Not a good movie, but definitely a fun, campy watch. And somehow I was watching this as a kid. That explains a lot.

I adore this movie. It’s unquestionably a step down from the previous sequel, but I’ve always found it really charming.
