Before the movie started I ask iris if this movie was in English. She said yes. Then the movie started and it was definitely not in English. Some may even say it was in French. Then the character went to England and I thought surely now they will speak English. Do not be fooled, they also speak French there. This must be how people feel watching Hollywood movies all the time. There is a lesson here

i saw this in a theatre FULL of women (with two women over 70 on either side of me) and there is still something so moving about witnessing women seeing themselves be represented on screen as complex and messy and artistic geniuses for maybe the first time for them! is this movie perfect? no but it’s funny and touching and both women on either side of me were sobbing by the end it and i can’t help but think it’s because they really felt seen by it! which was beautiful to be a part of.

The title was screaming that I had to watch this film. And luckily, I did. There was something about it that reminded me of the movie Holiday, something comforting and heartwarming. Perfect for early autumn.

The opening scene makes me want to dance inside a small bookstore too😄. I like the outfits and where it takes place, it’s lovely. During the end I’m like, “Finally”. (I won’t spoil the ending, so if you’ve seen it, you’ll get what I mean).

What is so exciting and beautiful and mysterious are the encounters we have with books.

Einerseits niedlich, andererseits: plump.

Omg he’s in hit film Pride and Prejudice and Zombies I’m charmed Very pretty looking and I liked the sweet sadness of it However I feel like it didn’t totally land for me The brief “political writer” strawman thing is a confusing choice to me and I feel like I wanted more of what I love about Austen in terms of humour, critique, society weirdness etc

French fleabag, artsy and cute as hell. A bit odd at times, a bit brilliant at others, not what I expected based on the trailers, but also not mad.

I love everything about this movie: the colors, the cinematography, the plot, the way Camille Rutherford is so insanely chic without even trying. It feels like a hug in the form of a movie in the best way possible, and it definitely cheers you up and makes you believe love is possible after a heartbreak..from personal experience..

The trailer seemed more promising and I had much higher expectations. It turned out kind of disappointing. The comedy didn’t work for me and there were no chemistry between the leads. I still don’t convinced of Oliver’s love for her but whatever. Watchable but not memorable.

There was an argument in the film If a writer’s job is just to tell a good story or their main job is to write something politically correct. But I think if a story is not politically correct than it can’t be a good story…..

Glowing embers that never really ignite, which is kind of the point. Too bad they sold it as a romcom. It’s better than that.

Véltem némi párhuzamot venni a Büszkeség és balítélet és ezen alkotás tánc jelenetében.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to understand that this film would be in French… It is a simple and cute romcom, nothing extraordinary but it doesn’t need to be. Agathe is kind of a train wreck and that makes her interactions with all the other train wreck authors makes it quite endearing. The world of literature does not exist for one singly reason, in the same vain of all art forms, in its all literature seeks to express…

Agathe Robinson doesn’t just love Jane Austen; she’s cosplaying as one of her sentences, italics and all, waiting for someone else to finish the clause. She bikes everywhere, works in a bookstore that functions like a shrine, and figures if her life won’t resemble a novel, she’d rather not participate. It’s a lovely little delusion right up until the movie asks her to live inside it. That’s the premise powering #168 on the Rotten Tomatoes Best of 2025 list: Certified…

Discount Hugh grant sure dances real snazzy. That said I liked the pantsless dementia guy best

I thought the title was ruined my life- which I think makes far more sense. The advice Agathe is given is to look in the ruin of her life for inspiration, no? Some interesting moments but just ok.

Bad: -the scene copy of Becoming Jane upset me -diet hugh grant -THIS DIET MR DARCY IS PISSING ME OFF -failed attempt to generate an ounce of yearning and passion in the obvious replica of the dance scene as lizzie and Darcy in 2005 P&P -so she works at SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY?? And it’s always chill and quiet in there like what. -I can’t believe the best option for her was diet hugh grant -abrupt ending Good: -French film

“what i want literature to do is to remind me that i’m only human and help me to understand my fears and my sadness and my struggles in life” no geral, achei um filme muito agradável de assistir e gostei bastante. eu, também, fui arruinada pela literatura, mas eu não trocaria por nada, fui ensinada sobre o amor, sobre a beleza da vida, sobre meus medos, inseguranças e descobri visões de mundo graças aos livros

Really love the chemistry between the leads and the overall quiet intimacy of the romance. I recognize that this is a very French way to tell a love story, but at times, I feel the film gets too distracted by aesthetics. I would have preferred more time with the leads interacting rather than so, so many shots of Agathe not writing. The scene where they’re admitting their faults together is the heart of it all and was so well done; I wanted more of that.
-
C
Complete lack of social manners tbh. Nice ferry shots and setting was cozy. She literally could’ve thrown up anywhere else but she specifically aimed for his shoes. Didn’t feel the chemistry anymore between library guy when he came back.

A gentle (and occasionally quite funny) delight: engrossing, delicately directed, skillfully, smoothly paced, and romantic too – plus it looks and sounds beautiful, thanks to lovely lighting, impeccable set decoration and a fine soundtrack and score.

Not nearly dramatic or deep enough to justify being so fucking slow but i enjoyed the fact that for once the tortured artist was a woman.

Well told story. Excellent acting performances. The Austen house looked fantastic. Landed the emotional beats at the end.

-
B
Agathe, I’d be utterly delighted to be in your place.
-

Why the romantic interest is always Darcy-coded when all the real ones know that Henry Tilney is the husband material of the Austenverse. Also, missed opportunity there wasn’t a straight up Northanger Abbey adjacent parallels. This is Austenland’s soul sister. I’m in desperate need for more of these.
-
S
