Big positive surprise. The movie goes through all the band members, all years, albums, tours, worst times, and a few big moments for the music world. Good to see Iron Maiden from different perspectives and how they helped and united people in all parts of the world. I can’t tell you how cool I think it is that Poland takes good couple of minutes here. And I’m not talking only about the wedding story which I think everyone is pretty familiar with by now anyway, but the political situation in my country in 1984 and that someone back then and now still cares about that. Great important addition in form of opinions and experiences shared by other musicians, actors, journalists…

Between this and 29 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE, Maiden seems to be dominating 2026 Metal in Pop Culture! While Im a casual MAIDEN fan, I was really intrigued by this rock doc as I’m a fan of the “hero’s journey” structure these visual chronicles usually adhere to. Now, this is just a theory and not a proclamation, but right before I sat down to watch, I looked at one review on Letterboxd that claimed much of the film was “enhanced” by AI. So I started the film in earnest and was really digging it, but then a supposed CG animation came up that looked a little TOO good, which spawned my questioning the use of AI…and then noticed that…

I really appreciated the creative decision to avoid showing the band members as they tell their tale and instead focus on the 50 years worth of archival footage/stills to paint it’s portrait. I’m a massive Iron Maiden nut so there wasn’t a whole load of this that was new to me but that didn’t stop me and some of my fellow metallers from getting all misty-eyed as the credits rolled. *Loved some of the new Eddie footage 🤘

i’ve been a fan of iron maiden ever since my dad scared me by showing the cover of his powerslave tape (another album he traumatized me with was king diamond’s eye of the witch, thanks old man), so i knew i was going to feel a lot of emotions seeing them on the big screen in dolby sound. at the end of the day, this is a fairly standard documentary that doesn’t really go into anything you wouldn’t already know if you’re a hardcore fan, and to be sure, this is for the hardcore fans. the band members don’t appear on screen, instead they’re speaking over archived footage which is okay, i guess, but i think it would’ve hit more…

Man it’s so cool to see something like this on the big screen, if you’re a Maiden Head then you’ve got to make the effort to see Burning Ambition on the big screen this weekend for sure! Burning Ambition dispenses with the talking heads documentary format for the band and crew, as you would see in something like Flight 666, instead it’s a collection of archival material of the band, and the talking heads this time around are the fans themselves, headlined by Javier Bardem in perhaps the most animated mood I’ve ever seen him, he and all the fans gathered to be a part of this documentary come from such a wide variety of walks of life, but all…

Iron Maiden.

I really love Iron Maiden, but once again, I’ve ended up watching a lackluster documentary like this. Among the most frustrating aspects are the lack of in-depth, investigative storytelling and the director’s heavy reliance on audio-only voiceovers interspersed with fan testimonials rather than on-camera band interviews. Furthermore, the CGI and animated sequences featuring their mascot, Eddie, can feel disjointed from the historical archival footage

Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is almost impossible for me to dislike. As an almost lifelong Iron Maiden fan, I’m naturally going to enjoy spending time with the band, hearing the stories again and going through their history from the early days all the way up to 2025. But that’s also the documentary’s biggest problem: I’ve heard most of it before. For anyone unfamiliar with Maiden’s history, it’s probably a very good introduction. For longtime fans, however, much of it consists…

It does a good job at offering a condensed look at Iron Maiden’s 50-year career, and even manages a bunch of chilling, spine-tingling moments that showcase the scope of the band’s impact. It also has the self-evident distinction of tackling the more recent years of the band. Perhaps unsurprisingly, however, it doesn’t offer much of an insight for the initiated fans of the band on the whole. It’s also a curious choice to not show any of the band members talk on camera, except for archive footage.

  43. J

It’s good, but it’s not really the all-encompassing Iron Maiden documentary the group deserves. It does a serviceable job summing up nearly 50 years of the band’s history, but it never really seems to capture the magic and energy that earned them millions of fans across the globe. It’s cool hearing from guys like Scott Ian and Tom Morello but the band members themselves have astonishingly little interesting things to say about their own group. It’s a nice little synopsis, but it leaves WAY too much out to be considered a definitive statement. I liked it, but I can’t say I loved it.

This is a movie made to explain to people who don’t know anything about Iron Maiden how important they are and their story. In that way there is basically nothing here the fans don’t already know well. But they covered it well enough. I came out of this with my fandom reinvigorated. Iron Maiden were my favorite band for decades and hearing the stories of Triumph and turmoil (overcoming battles with cancer, being spit on and surviving rigorous tour schedules) reminded me of how they earned that title in the first place. The fervor from the fans could really be felt and this entire documentary stands as an ode to the fanbase. It didn’t feel perfect with some of the eras and facts feeling rushed through but I still had a great time watching it.

I love Iron Maiden and this was great, although the previous “History Of” documentaries were much more in depth, especially regarding the very early days and forming of the band. Iron Maiden are the extremely rare band who’ve created an entire universe they’re at the center of. Maiden is a global phenomenon, and this film does a very admirable job of trying to explain that phenomenon. Simon Gallup from The Cure shows up just to rave about Steve’s bass playing. This is structurally quite repetitive especially if you are already a fan of the band. The bulk of the film is one long montage of live footage with voiceovers. I…

Straightforward, but the focus on the community was neat, mentioning the roadie, the managers, and spending a lot of time with the fans. Half the talking heads in this are just fans, a few of whom are famous but most are just old (and young) Iron Maiden heads. Can’t believe they actually got ahold of footage of the night they got drunk and played “Smoke on the Water” at a wedding reception in Poland.

Hard to give this glowing praise as a fan who’s dedicated his life to Maiden, as it essentially strips theirs 50 year history into brief highlights. The last 25 years of the band is essentially skipped over, there’s nothing here that I didn’t already know. While I do have these minor complaints, it’s nice to have it. Nice to see the Gustafson brothers represented too. One of the greatest things to have ever existed. Iron fucking Maiden.

4 veces he visto a Iron Maiden en vivo.

Very much for fans only and honestly if you’re anything more than a filthy casual you probably know most of this story already. Maiden have been touring the world for long enough that there’s endless fascinating archival footage to be had but the overall flow and substance of what we see is pretty thin. A few of the many talking heads are adjacent industry figures with relevant takes that seem appropriate but the random fans from different countries approach to civilians felt a bit jarring and random in comparison.

An enjoyable stroll through the Iron Maiden story. Doesn’t go quite warts & all, feels sometimes a little bullet pointy. Still, it’s cool to hear these stories from these guys & through the eyes of the fans.

This is barely a band documentary, its mainly a fan appreciation film to be honest. We hear alot of various fans talking about Iron Maiden, some famous some not and what the band means to them. But I wanted more about the band, how they wrote certain songs or what trials they went through on certain albums but you barely get any of that. It is very surface base and everything seems super glossed over. I don’t know anything more about Maiden then I did coming into this film.

they kept going on about this Eddie fuck and I’d never heard of him before. I’ve listened to some iron maiden songs and had seen dude on their album art but never thought of him as this iconic piece of culture everyone in this documentary keeps insisting it is. This is the 2nd band documentary I’ve seen where the band or fans of the band try to credit them for helping ease cold war tensions. Seen the video of Metallica…

A great watch if you’re already a hardcore Iron Maiden fan. But honestly, nothing really in there that would help convert someone to being a fan. Unless they already did like metal, I suppose. But then again, such a person would probably need no introduction to Maiden. The details of the tours was simply amazing (especially behind the Iron Curtain), and it was nice to see all the past members being acknowledged and celebrated, those from before the fame and…

Iron Maiden has taken up a considerable amount of real estate in my heart since I was 14, so naturally I had to go see this. I was a little disappointed. I will never regret an opportunity to see and hear about my favorite band, but most of this film was just things I already knew (and that I expect every big fan would know), or things I don’t think mattered all that much to the story of the group. It could serve as a decent introduction to the band, however, and I do hope that some people discovered Maiden through this documentary!

I went into Burning Ambition knowing very little of Iron Maiden’s music, and even less about their history. And to leave it feeling like I know the band’s story almost back to front is a testament to just how determined they were to leave no stone unturned here. It might be relatively standard in execution, comprised of talking heads and archive footage, but it’s so comprehensive and genuine that it ends up a cut above the rest. Have a particular…
