Didn’t really get into this one as much, I thought the middle was significantly slow and didn’t progress as masterfully as the first. Third act felt rushed in comparison. Wasn’t a fan of many choices the characters made. The humor from the side characters was passable in the original but obnoxious here. And the score was a massive step down. But hey, the main characters were still great and the emotional beats hit extremely hard, maybe even harder than the first. If it had a cleaner narrative I’d probably put it on par with the original or Shrek 2, but as is, it’s still a solid sequel.

Bon je continue à me saigner les dragons et toujours pas déçu. Les thèmes abordés sont différents. Le sujet de l’héritage, avec la mort de son père, encré dans la tradition vikings m’a ému et énormément touchée. L’antagoniste est aussi plus flippant, avec son petit côté dieu mythologique. Cependant, je trouve que le deuil est quasi pas abordé, mais je réserve mon avis pour demain quand j’aurais visionner le dernier de la trilogie. J’apprécie par contre que le personnage d’Astrid…

C’est du très solide ce qu’on nous propose. Peut être hot take mais j’ai préféré le premier. En tout cas, la trilogie Dragons est vraiment géniale pour l’instant. SPOILER: Esta pelicula sinceramente se salva porque es de la saga pero todo lo que aporta esta muy mal pensado: la madre que abandona a su hijo durante 20 años y cuando lo vuelve a ver lo trata como si nada hubiera pasado con 0 remordimientos, lo de que los dragones realmente no tengan personalidad es horrible (si los controla el alpha) da a entender que no tienen libre albedrío, y el tema de la muerte del padre por el desdentao se lo podrían haber ahorrado.

God, I love this movie so much. This is my favorite of the three, and it expands Hiccup so much through the use of outside characters (Astrid, his mom, his father). Good, but not great. Found the third act a bit messy. Why was the other alpha such a dick? Because Drago was really persuasive? I also found his entire character paper-thin and motivation tiresome. Loved Cate Blanchett’s part in this, even if her accent was incomprehensible.

I’m kinda torn on this as I liked it but didn’t love it. Hiccup’s mom is a great character and a great addition to this. It’s not her problem, but mostly that they try to expand way too much in this. Some of my problems were fixed in this, including Jay Baruchel’s voice acting, but the middle of the movie just isn’t that interesting. I like the beginning and like the end, but that alone will not put it above the original.

Bom pra caramba também, baita continuação, acho que um pouco a baixo do primeiro, mas ainda assim excelente. O upgrade que teve a animação foi excelente, esse é de certa forma mais impactante que o 1 e o desenvolvimento do Soluço é muito legal também. Acho que só não gostei muito do Drago mesmo, e acho que o filme poderia ser maior um pouco, acho que a parte final dava pra desacelerar um pouco e trabalhar ela com mais calma.

I think this is the best out of the 3 httyd films, the musical score is so great and “where no one goes” holds true as one of my favourite songs. This film actually made me more emotional than any other film released this year has, between the musical score, characters and overarching story I do love this film, 10/10

Beautiful movie. Beautiful soundtrack. The visuals portrayed in this movie are so gripping and so well animated. By far the best animated movie imo.
