includes multiple point break references, all of which explicably state how gay the relationship between patrick swayze and keanu reeves was which correlates with the gay undertones between simon pegg and nick frost and if you also consider the pleasant and surprising two second cameo from cate blanchett, you got the gayest poetic cínëmà ever created

If anybody even tells you that they “don’t like British comedy,” tell them to watch this, Four Lions, In the Loop, Withnail & I, A Fish Called Wanda and Life of Brian in as close proximity as possible; if they still claim that they “don’t like British comedy” by the end of that marathon, consider them a lost cause.

A bit of a slow burn at times and those twat side cops are really irritating. But the payoff is beyond phenomenal; this is a fantastic, hilarious murder mystery turned action masterwork, where every line of dialogue can and will come back later in some shape or form. An step up from Shaun of the Dead in terms of tight direction and an even tighter screenplay.

Perfection. Every scene is quotable. Third act might be the most exciting gear change in cinema history. Easily the best of the cornetto trilogy by a country mile. Will I continue to enjoy it through my adult life? Yarp. No wife score – watched on my own again. She did like it last time though.

Hilariously funny, murder mystery, action and a legendary British cast, perfect combination. Sometimes a bit slow, but for that last 30 minutes any slow minute is completely forgotten.

Far more of a proper film than Shaun of the Dead. I used to watch this on repeat when my mum brought home it on DVD from Morrisons so I have a lot of nostalgia for this movie. In terms of straight up jokes per minute/visual gags, Shaun of the Dead surpasses it but this one has far more style and charm.

Not often has a movie been this quotable Being a parody of every cop action movie while simultaneously being one. There is so so so so much more to this movie then while obviously being hilarious, maybe the best editing I’ve ever seen. About how rotten the ever so peaceful countryside can be. An amazing movie that maybe maybe only falls short because, for me, it’s a little bit too much shaky cam in the action scenes. It works well…

Sincerest apologies to anyone within a 2 metre radius of me watching this movie because I will always, without fail, recite along like a wanker. This is the only exposure to British culture the world needs (Paddington too) + v convincing pub propaganda cause wtf is a pint and why do I kinda want one. Can’t wait to be old and wrinkly as fck and retire in the English countryside in a stone cottage calling people twats and shooting people I don’t like w a shotgun ‘tis a mood !! Yarp!!

Edgar Wright is a absolute genius. The meta commentary on action tropes here is so brilliant, taking every high-octane Hollywood cliché and filtering it through a quaint, quiet countryside setting. What starts as a genuinely engaging murder mystery effortlessly transitions into one of the most gloriously chaotic third-act shootouts in modern cinema. The humor is top-tier dry British wit, perfected by how ridiculously tight the callbacks are. Almost every single throwaway line or tiny setups in the first half lands…

I gave it 45 minutes and didn’t laugh once. Maybe it’s just dated and was funny for its time, but it definitely didn’t live up to what I expected.

The heavy action satire of the final act never worked for me the way the rest of the film does, but the rest is just absolutely amazing. Doing the comfy small town murder mystery story but with horrific violence is genuinely funny, and there’s so much personality to everyone we meet! The end is rougher; it’s hard to satirize Michael Bay action scenes when they’re already pretty funny to begin with. Timothy Dalton is amazing and I didn’t remember Olivia…

I can officially say Edgar Wright is my favourite director after this 🥹 HOOOLY IT’S SOO GOOD!! I never get tired of appreciating how Edgar uses music and sound effects with these insane shots and montages. Peak action cinema, and it’s also a murder mystery so how can I not get fucking hyped mate!!! 😤😤😤

world record for most cuts in a movie ever really funny. incredibly british. so many laugh out loud moments All of the callbacks were incredibly funny. a lot more gruesome than i expected in very creative ways. kinda wince-worthy. the cinematography is like Just on the edge of nauseating like toeing the line But not going over it. the mystery was quite good. i really thought there would be more relationship drama and that nicholas’ ex would be more important…

“Cop enjoys watching young lovers” “I don’t think so” “Local bobby gives thumbs up to teen suicide” “That’s just grossly inappropriate” In a national industry full of films idealising British gangster violence, heres one classic that idealizes British police violence! In arguably his most celebrated work “Hot Fuzz” Edgar Wright spoofs the action thriller, the police procedural, the macabre murder mystery and the neo western, all in supposedly “idealistic” rural British Hell. It feels as if somebody made a live-action…

A popular spoof of many genres of film, specifically of the “action movie” but also “suspense,” while movies like Point Break and Bad Boys II are praised and mocked at the same time – it also throws in the atmosphere of Straw Dogs and the Wicker Man -as well as the editing style of Guy Richie’s Snatch: In general a Hollywood slapstick comedy or even the common collage, Tarantino film. It’s comedy, it’s fun and great to watch with friends…

Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost cooking up an absolute feast with this one. It’s a witty and hilarious time, with so much in it that a rewatch feels rewarding because there are all these sight gags and repeated lines throughout the movie that you might miss on first watch because it feels like this happens with every single line. Nothing against Wright but I wish he would go back to similar vibes from the cornetto trilogy where it felt a little less self-serious.
