i started thinking this movie was kinda unrealistic when they were climbing on the outside of the plane mid-air

Was this bonkers? YES Was it still entertaining and worth 7$? ABSOLUTELY These types of films are so over the top and implausible but they’re also some of my favorites. 9 times out of 10 you’re gonna have fun and it’s going to be very watchable. I don’t think the film needs much of a review, if you’re choosing to watch this, you already know what you’re in for. A bit of a side note: I really don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see Alexander Dreymon as anyone other than Uhtred of Bebbanburg and I need season 5 to come out now.

Allison Williams holds onto the wing of an airplane with one hand while she fills the fuel tank with homemade rum to keep this movie flying.

Flies at a high altitude of implausibility for 90% of its runtime and then descends into a safe-and-sound conclusion that doesn’t quite stick the landing, mostly because it chooses not to end with the shock it suggests. It’s a shame, because that really could have brought things full circle. Allison Williams is good though.

“Sara, can you fly this plane?!” “Jackson, I’ll try!” “Sara, that’s great!” “Jackson, I need your help!” “Sara, ok I’m doing the thing!” “Jackson, good job!” “Sara, now you do a thing!” “Jackson, now I’m doing it!” “Sara, I’m hurt!” “Jackson, no!” “Sara!” “Jackson!” “Saraaaa!” “Jacksooooon!”

Well, I just spotted this on Channel 4 catch-up here in the UK & stuck it on on impulse. And it’s pretty much exactly what I expected. It’s a light aircraft in trouble story, & is a perfect illustration of why no one will ever get me anywhere near one. There’s a lot of scene setting at the beginning, which I didn’t mind too much as I got to know the lead couple a bit (though not a lot as they’re more sort of walking attitudes than real people) & the Mauritius scenery was nice to look at. I can’t be bothered to outline the overall plot, as we’re all basically here for the disaster to happen, which it does almost as soon…

My first new movie at the cinema since Cineworld closed its doors. We got Limitless cards (yeah yeah Unlimited traitors) and then Boris rained the fuck on our parade and put us back in Lockdown. This movie was intense, and they dealt with everything thrown at them better than me and the wife would. We would crash into the ocean and drown.

A couple meets again after one of the parties gave up out of fear and for a better job. When their pilot dies of a heart attack while flying an airplane carrying them to a friend’s wedding, they will be forced to use every skill at their disposal to survive on the air and not crash into the ground with an instant death. Basically, Open Water, but in the air. So I came into this as blind as can be. It was listed on the Prime Video site and I was in need of a quick watch, so I gave it a watch. The moment the STX logo appeared on the screen I knew my expectations had to be rock…

The negatives far outweigh the positives in this movie. First of all, you’ve got 2 of the most unlikeable characters ever in a movie, fighting for survival, and yet, as a viewer I was actively rooting for them to not survive. The dialogue is TERRIBLE, this kinda dialogue is forgivable in movies that are self-aware and are made with a certain amount of humour, but this movie takes itself far too seriously to ever get away with the horrendous words coming out of the mouths of these characters. The decisions these people make are absurd, again, if it didn’t take itself so seriously then it’d be ok, but when they’re trying to pass it off as a plot point of…

“Can you fly this plane?” “No.” These new survival surplus films are cool.

is this Dunkirk for dummies? hans-zimmer-smiley. watched this for Keith Davids Baloo imitation, stayed on for the unbearable histrionics from Williams, an intriguingly derailing interpretation of an hero in distress. has an oddly dark tone of despair by the end, that is – of course – shattered by the standard saviour trope.

Ok, so you really do have to suspend any sense of reality if you’re going to get anything out of this totally far-fetched airborne fantasy – but I still didn’t hate it. The acting is terrible – but did anyone expect any less from Alexander (“Uhtred”) Dreymon? It takes for ever to get going, but when it does Allison Williams as his stranded co-passenger “Sara” has some fun and is game for a few silly escapades as the adventure lurches from the entertaining to the down right preposterous; but it’s tongue is firmly in it’s cheek and I’ve seen worse lately as the lockdown production dearth propels mediocre efforts like this onto a big screen that normally would take two years to hit Amazon Prime. Aim low and it’s not dreadful, but aeronautically speaking – it’s a work of fiction that needs to be taken with a whole bucket of salt!

Has a couple tense moments but otherwise this was just dumb. The acting was at best average and the plot thin, far too thin for the 90-minute running time. One of those watch and forget-it films. **2.25/5**
