Fuck this movie. Fuck that pointless first 20 minutes. Fuck that white horse. Fuck the cringe worthy dialogue. Fuck Rob Zombie for thinking women/teens/human beings really talk like this. Fuck Rob Zombie for turning Michael Myers’ story into some weird LSD pipe dream that only he understands. Fuck the studio for forcing Rob Zombie into making this movie because they couldn’t leave well enough alone. Fuck every character who was remotely likable/bearable in the last movie who decided to turn into huge assholes in this one. Fuck “new Loomis”. He’s such a cunt. Fuck new Loomis’ cunty mustache while we’re at it. Fuck new Laurie, who is way too unlikable to sympathize with. Fuck new Michael and his LSD pipe…

Trauma lingers. The greatest fallacy of all slasher sequels is the insistence that a final girl can pick things up where she left off without any visible wounds to show after she’s survived a potential murderer. Halloween II rectifies that by only being about the trauma of Laurie Strode and the struggles she has in keeping her head above water in day to day life as the anniversary of the event that forever shook her life approaches. Scout Taylor Compton is an exposed nerve ready to break at any second. She isn’t the good-natured girl you saw in the previous movie. She’s been hardened by the unfortunate luck of being attached to a broken abusive family that she never knew…

This was initially only going to be a comment, but I spent enough time on it that I thought I should utilize it as a review, for it sheds much more light, than my previous review, on why I hold this film in such high regard. Halloween II is really the only one of Rob Zombie’s films that I’d go as far as saying I love, and I love it deeply, because it — for me, next to Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me — handles the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, whether directly or peripherally, better than almost every other English language film that I’ve seen. As a diagnosed sufferer of PTSD myself, a film on the subject…

An astonishing work. Zombie refines his grindhouse shlock into a thing of beauty, and his humanization of Myers pays rich dividends. This is a horror film less about the return of a monster than the wounds the monster left the first time. A family dismantled is reunited under a sky grey from the fallout of violence suffered and perpetuated. Humanity extracted from horror at its most inhuman.

that transient image of little Annie and the dog is, circumstantially, still the most moving visual in any horror film this century for me.

i cannot stress enough how monumental this is. absolutely insane carnage so beautifully paired with psychological torture and maybe my favorite aesthetic of any horror movie ever. drowning in despair and isolation. this is so much more than just another slasher film. it’s one of the most chilling and diabolical examinations of how trauma can distort reality. rob zombie made the best halloween movie and i think that is so cool.

Spoilers In the documentary, 30 Days of Hell, which chronicled the making of Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects (2005), Rob states right before shooting the motel sequence that the real horror is in making audiences feel for victims and by extension they’d experience vulnerability themselves. He wants audiences to feel awful; to feel scared. I’ve always liked this thesis on horror, and as I’ve grown older myself and began to truly understand my own fragility and vulnerability that comes with having a body like mine I’ve gravitated towards horror films that truly reckon with that central idea. The fallout of horror, or horror in post, is more interesting to me than “of the moment” scares. It is in the aftermath…

100 In Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), there’s a moment where Laurie discovers Annie laying on the floor of the Wallace residence, all cut up by Michael Myers while her boyfriend’s body is hanging from the ceiling, a pumpkin stuck on his head. Laurie checks on her and then runs to grab a phone to dial 911. Annie starts to call out Laurie’s name, over and over, a tired repetition setting in, feeling fruitless and desperate. It turns out that Michael Myers is still in the house, and was patiently waiting behind the front door. The audience knows this, and so does Annie, but not Laurie. Rob Zombie forces us to listen to Annie’s pleas, but in the midst of this…

The bad stuff I had to say about the first movie? The generic and boring characters, along with the annoying horny shit? Yeah that’s amplified here, and the Michael flashback content that I liked in the last one is barely here, and even then it’s the only thing keeping this shit together. Halloween 2 (1981) being condensed into the first 20 mins as a dream was weird, as was the unnecessary necrophilia discussion, as was Rob choosing to incorporate ideas from curse of Michael Myres. I didn’t hate it, but for a slasher movie that goes for an hour thirty, there’s less than 40 mins of slashing. The rest is this weird half explained dream child bullshit, Laurie being a dick for no reason, loomis becoming a sellout, and Michael becoming a trench coat wearing discord mod who lives in the woods and absolutely reeks of piss and sweat

“I’m Angel Myers and this is my fucked up life” This feels like they actually tried to make the worst Halloween movie and everybody except the gore department got the memo. But no amount of well shot violence can overshadow the headache inducing amount of cringe I had to endure while watching this. It’s boring, it’s uninteresting, it’s annoying and it doesn’t remotely feel like Halloween. An undeserving sequel to a fantastic reboot. Seriously, what happened here?

  24. G
    GreatENTERTAIN 2026年8月23日

Rob Zombie’s Halloween reboot in 2007 was enough of a success that it led to a sequel, Halloween II. Zombie is an adequate director, and this one has its moments in the beginning with Michael Myers going on a hospital rampage just like he did in the original Halloween II, but after it’s revealed to be a frustrating dream sequence, it’s all downhill.

Despite it not being very popular with fans of the franchise, I actually enjoyed Rob Zombie’s first Halloween. I can’t say the same about its sequel. Halloween 2 starts off strong with a brutal opening scene. And as far as the kills go, this movie has some violent ones. But beyond that, I struggle to stick with this movie. I don’t like how Loomis becomes a pompous dick, Laurie’s constant screaming annoys the hell out of me, and to top…

Halloween II, is the much reviled sequel to Rob Zombie’s disaster of a Halloween remake. Even most of the hardcore defenders of the first one, hate the sequel. However, oddly enough and I’m not being a contrarian here, but… I like it much better of the two. Of course it’s also an overwrought ridiculous debacle and a pile of excrement in the grand scheme of things, but at least this truly is Rob Zombie’s vision of Michael Myers coming to…

Michael Myers – 7/10 He was still very strong and ginormous like the first Rob Zombie film but he was not in the mask a lot throughout the film. The mask is very important for Myers and for him just to be showing his face straight up didn’t make much sense. Kills and Gore – 10/10 Brutal kills and heaps of…

I don’t know how I feel about it neing Loomis, but the struggle Laurie has is compelling and may just be more tasteful than the 2018 movie.

Rob Zombie, they dont understand, BUT I DO PERFECTLY WELL. A masterpiece in the highest order. The ultimate inspection of mental health and grief, all disguised as a Halloween film. Scout gives the absolute best performance this entire franchise has ever seen and theres no debate. Legendary shit. The directors cut is without a doubt the superior way to watch this, emphasises the character study it is. The opening sequence all being a dream just shows what this movie is going to be from the start. Major achievement. Undeniably impressive, its earned its 5 stars officially.

Dreams within nightmares; nightmares within dreams. An indescribable experience. Subverts every single possible expectation you would have when going into a slasher movie (especially after the prior installment). Immediately respects the original Halloween 2 — with that awesome hospital sequence — and that’s that. Rob Zombie is subsequently allowed to do what he wants after that, in my opinion. He definitely does. A surreal amalgamation of unintelligible emotion and violence. This is not like any other horror film you’ll see.…

Just saw the director’s cut for the first time after seeing the theatrical cut multiple times. It’s complicated my overall thoughts on the film, as it added so much incredible material, but also weakened some elements of the theatrical cut. I really love both cuts of this film, and having the choice between them is a great thing, because they’re essentially two different movies. The director’s cut is so much meaner and more traumatic.

Halloween II is a strange, brutal, and highly divisive horror sequel, but I personally think there’s a lot to appreciate about Rob Zombie’s follow-up to his 2007 Halloween. I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. What I really like about this movie is how different it feels from the original.

idk what to say, they ruined loomis and laurie isn’t herself in this either. they kill annie one of the best characters and some of the dialogue here is really painful. i sort of understand what they were trying to do but it wasn’t well executed

Me…

note: this review is for the unrated director’s cut. watching this movie twice in one day made me regret ever committing to watching both versions of these movies. in case it wasn’t obvious from the last review, i don’t like this movie, and the extra 15 minutes of footage in this version doesn’t do much to change that. the extra scenes are alright, they expand on laurie’s mental state and show her as even more shattered than the theatrical cut,…

Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is probably the most polarising entry in the whole franchise. I seen people refer it to as one of the worst outings, as obnoxiously incoherent as The Curse of Micheal Myers and as disrespectfully inept as Resurrection, however I also seen others defend it as an underrated, subversive and misunderstood masterpiece. As for me I’m torn. I watched the director’s cut and the way it explores Laurie’s trauma and her deeply self destructive tendancies is just…

Rob Zombies first Halloween is actually in my honest opinion a solid fresh take on what (at the time) was a very stale period for our buddy Micheal. The second film is the equivalent of an extremely ugly child, but you know this child is talented and has a lot of potential in modeling. Sadly though the ugliness is too much and that potential is never reached. That is Halloween 2.

I feel so unrefined for not loving this, but what can you do. It occured to me while watching that maybe Rob Zombie has a bit too much sympathy for Michael Myers. Just a thought. Also, I think it’s sweet he found a way to cast his wife again, even though all these visions she’s in are pretty ridiculous. But then, the Weird Al cameo more or less makes up for it.

Probably the bravest and most courageous this franchise has ever been. An excellent parallel to Lynch’s Fire Walk with Me, due to the dreamlike components present here and a kind of aftermath after all the damage is done, where the spiral doesn’t stop and any salvation is impossible. The lighting, mise-en-scène, and the entire atmosphere are excellent; it’s as if all the friction of the production clashes with the plot itself. A dramatic and traumatic film, about how wounds don’t heal (and we just have to live with them), disguised as a horror film.

Rob Zombie goes completely off the rails with this one. I respect that it isn’t just another remake of the original Halloween II, and Scout Taylor-Compton actually gets more emotional material as Laurie, but the white horse visions, Michael’s mother and all the dream imagery feel like they belong in a completely different film. Director’s Cut.
