   the good: – sapphic women in a western AND WITH A HAPPY ENDING?? YES GOD – michelle dockery? hot – jack o’connell? also hot – merritt wever and scoot mcnairy are consistently underrated and i’d watch a spinoff about them – the cinematography *chef kissing fingers* the bad: – for a show about a town full of women it sure pays a disproportionate amount of attention to its male characters – native american people and black people exist only in relation to white characters and are lazily written as stereotypes – jeff daniels kept talking about his death and i was like, does he think he’s me???

   I AM SO ANGRY AT THIS ENTIRE THING I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE. MY HOUSEMATE DEFINITELY JUST HEARD MY SCREAMS. The absolute worst case of false advertising I have seen in an age. The worst, because Netflix’s goddamn trailer played up every single thing to make me think I would love this goddamn thing. I turned on Netflix on Thanksgiving morning, because I had a blessed morning off (the first morning off in forever), and a trailer for this Netflix original I had heard zero about even existing auto-played.    Pros: Alice Fletcher/Michelle Dockery TRUCKEE, the one pure soul The mild prettiness of Jack O’Connell Cons: Treatment and portrayal of Black characters Extensive horse-related montages Lack of development for 90% of female characters Horrible people being horrible but the script begging us to empathize 7+ hours of life you’ll never get back More things than I wish to recall at this time

   A great western miniseries, it has a very strong “Red Dead Redemption” vibe to it, the two shares a lot of similarities (a criminal hero in search of redemption, a former boss who has a father/son-like relationship with the hero, a woman with strong character who runs a ranch, oh and there’s a scene of flower-picking 13 minutes into the first episode!!) highly recommended for Western and RDR fans alike.

   Scott Frank’s Godless is a fantastic “good old-fashioned Western”. Pretty much everything you expect from the genre. A brutal, pulpy and gorgeously-shot series featuring an incredible ensemble cast of well developed characters with a strong emphasis world building and homages to the classics scattered throughout. And Jeff Daniels did take it to a whole new level…THAT was one of the best performances & characters i have seen on TV. If not for few missteps in the finale, I might have given an extra half-star.

    this series was so incredible, i just finished it and that finale was just outstanding which is why it gets a 4.5. and jack o’connell i love you

    Gosh could’nt helped but to think how good it is if Red Dead Redemption 2 made into a series or trilogy. I bet everyone would love Arthur.
