One of their own is dead. Fans of the Fast & Furious knew this day was coming. Han had to go to Tokyo eventually. Less than two years ago, we were almost ready for that moment, but what no one saw coming was the tragic passing of Paul Walker. His death, changed everything. What do you do now? How do you pay your respects to Paul? Well, you rally, and make your story about one last ride. The last ride is special. The last ride is all about family. The last ride is an awesome tribute to Paul. Buckle up, it’s go time. I’m a huge Paul Walker fan. I’ve grown up with him. His death sucked. If you’ve never seen…

This is the number one in my ranking. The opening is so solid at letting you know they are not fucking around this time, it’s really just such a good set up. James Wan is maybe the best thing to ever happen to this franchise. I really wish he’d gotten to direct more, though I’m sure him not returning is entirely by choice. It’s so funny how he does shoot this like it’s a Saw movie at several points– and it works. It all works for me! Every action scene fucking hits, the one-liners are delightfully unhinged, the Paul stuff is genuinely emotional, and I think a better farewell than much more revered movies have been able to pull off. Very…

pure mayhem. this is the one where they’re suddenly obsessed with flying and it’s so ridiculous that it actually works. the transition from “goofballs who drive cars really fast” to “world renowned secret agents now somehow” is finally complete and it made me laugh during every action scene. james wan brings a new stylistic approach that was desperately needed and it really amplifies the tone. not a lot more i can actually compliment but i had a total blast and that’s good enough for me, especially after SIX of these things. and the ending was so touching and bittersweet that i cried. that’s familia!

It’s not that they jump a car from one building to another. It’s that they jump a car from one building to another and then to a second building — and when they make the first jump they cut to a super wide shot so you can see the third building in the distance and think to yourself “Holy shit they are going to jump the other one too.” That’s cinema magic right there. Furious 7 is not the best Fast (that’s Fast Five, although I haven’t had time to rewatch it this week) but it’s arguably the purest version of what these movies have become, namely this deeply sentimental tribute to macho brotherhood and its ability to defeat anything, up to and including physics. Also, this would make a weirdly interesting double feature with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for a lot of reasons.

I saw this in a packed theater and the final moment of the movie was really polarizing. Some people were crying and some were laughing and a lot of people were totally silent. It’s tough to blame people for laughing at this, even though it seems callous as hell. It’s just that I’ve never seen a movie end like this, with one of the stars addressing old digitally added footage his actually dead friend to call him his brother and tell him that he will see him again in heaven. It’s an unbelievably sad and unguarded moment in a, like, ten billion dollar film franchise. I don’t think anything like that has ever happened elsewhere in film. It feels like…

7 is my favorite because it’s just nonstop with the action. There’s so little talking, it’s just go go go go go. And there’s tons of ridiculous little touches that ride the line between comedic and cool/sincere (like Dom using the hydraulics to throw Ramsey into the car) and remind me of what I love about similar moments in John Wick. Just impressive-but-casual physical absurdity that works because it’s earnest for the universe but comedic as an observer. The opening sequence to this movie is just… perfect. Perfect intro for James Wan, perfect intro for Shaw, perfect set-up for the villain to not feel like “yet another bad guy.” Best intro of the franchise, for sure. And not to keep…

Ok, to be honest this movie is so nostalgic for me. However I hate people who rate based on nostalgia, this movie is THE ONE AND ONLY exception ever. Listening to the F7 soundtrack in my dads old BMW takes me back. I mean this movie isnt even bad whatsoever. Paul’s death irl was really tragic and the final closing scene just hit all the harder. I also love dekard shaw. Highkey my favorite character in the franchise especially in hobbs and shaw he was super funny

The Rock puts Jason Statham through a glass table with a Rock Bottom; peak kino. Statham is right at home, playing roughly the same character as always. so many embarrassing attempts at quotable one-liners here, particularly from The Dwayne. love the early “cars can’t fly” bit which obviously foreshadowed so many flying cars. they should’ve had Paul Walker’s car crash during the obligatory corny tribute at the end, but only tasteless dickheads/based chads like me would find that funny. slightly aghast to once again hear the phrase “race wars” in one of these movies.

Again a culmination of everything they have done so far. This is definitely my favorite of the franchise so far. It now feels like they made a live action movie inspired by watching a 4 year old play with Hot Wheels. I hate it when Tony Jaa is in a movie but isn’t the main character. He is too good a martial artist to lose a fight, but no where near famous enough to win a fight, and not anywhere…
