You’d think I would’ve liked this movie more considering twenty minutes in Idris Elba gets thrown through a double decker bus, stands up and basically goes “of course you realize, this means war.” There was one section of this movie with so many drone shots that my audience began laughing and even applauding the drone shots. Who can know what lies in the hearts of our fellow man, but it didn’t seem to be coming from a place of “that’s too many drone shots.” Rather we just sensed that something insane was happening with the shots we were being presented and got so riled up that we cheered. I see how men in simpler times were rallied to war. I understand.

Love it. Fun and funny. Action is, as expected, very impressive. Stunts and FX are great. The whole cast is strong but Ryan Reynolds is truly hilarious. I may actually see this twice in cinemas. Watched atCineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas, Vancouver.

The USA and Canada get to enjoy a new Tarantino film meanwhile the UK has this meme of a movie to dominate the weekend. 😀 This Dwayne Johnson circlejerk needs to end, his dialogue at this point is literally just him bragging about how big his winky is. No exaggeration. He’s a rubbish leading man I’m afraid. Deadpool shows up to be “funny”, it’s shit and proves yet again how one note his shtick is. Uh, super soldier cyborgs as well I guess. Whatever, this franchise jumped the shark ages ago so you’re either with it or your not at this point. I hope you enjoy franetic camerawork too because the camera never stops moving to emphasise how truly “awesome” everything is. Jason Statham gives a good physical performance as usual, the movie is only genuinely okay when he’s the focus. Can’t remember anything else about the movie really and I saw it 30 mins ago. Lol?

17 Once the Fast and Furious franchise was ‘in’ on the joke and not deliberately trying to reinvent the genre and style of their own series, it became worthless. That perfect middle can be found in Tokyo Drift or Fast 5 and 6, which attempt their own goals and have formal ambitions in addition to their populistic flavor. They were fun and silly and surprisingly engaging on a formal level. What Hobbs and Shaw is in comparison is a commercial at punishing length, without worth of its own. It feels like it’s missing a laugh track.

Speaking as someone who’s fully on board with the escalating absurdity and monofilament-thin narratives of this series, this barely even qualifies as a LETHAL WEAPON 3-level almost-invisible clothesline for endless shtick and violence. Call it sacrilege if you must but Statham and Johnson exhaust what little chemistry they have early on and the excessively digital action sequences are just weightless and repetitive. Makes the others seem tightly structured, exciting, and coherent. Leitch is turning into a real disappointment as an action filmmaker despite his very apparent skill.

A top listed set of actors and a standalone Fast and Furious spinoff film, I expected a load of nonsense but, this is entertaining and quite funny at times even if all the jokes don’t always land. Idris Elba as the film’s villain is decent but, his character feels underdeveloped and poorly written. If you want a fun 2 hour action film this isn’t too bad.

Salvo non aver capito come la madre di Shaw sia finita in carcere e come mai ogni personaggio femminile non sia in grado di reggere un confronto fisico con un uomo, tanto da dover essere puntualmente salvata (e questo vale per tutta la saga) Comunque questo è un film di attori, per attori. Pieno di cameo assurdi e scene recitate. Ovviamente diretto da uno che l’intrattenimento lo ha inventato e che – salvo alcune scelte troppo digitali – costruisce un ottimo film. Per me è ingiustificabile il cattivo che guida un trasformers e combatte come robocop. Ma alla fine tutto il resto compensa.

Well I really didn’t feel like watching most of fast and furious to get to this film, because most of the series was spoiled to me anyway. But this is obviously a paycheck action film. Great fun seeing Idris Elba, and of course the main reason I even watch action films, Statham. Check it out if you enjoy these type of films

Honestly, this was a really fun spin-off. 🔥 Hobbs and Shaw together are pure chaos—the constant insults, arguments, and completely different personalities made their chemistry the best part of the movie. I also liked getting more of Hattie and the Shaw family, especially Queenie. The Samoa section gave Hobbs’ character some nice family backstory too. Brixton was a solid villain, and the action was crazy as expected. The story felt a little stretched at times, but the comedy and Hobbs/Shaw dynamic kept it entertaining.

MUCH better than I expected from this spin-off In hindsight probably benefited from watching at after the final three Fast & Furious films since they were pretty awful. This had a real charm to it, as an action movie which even normal f&f movies became it’s done great & there’s genuine funny moments, Vanessa Kirby was a good addition as the sister and I think the main 3 characters bounced off each other very well. Includes a very appreciated The Italian Job 2003 reference with Statham’s connection, which means canonically Fast & Furious and The Italian Job are the same universe Fast & Furious Ranked

The cast is excellent, with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham displaying superb chemistry as the title characters. Plus, any time you add Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby to a franchise, you’re going to get great work from them even if the material they’re given doesn’t break any new ground…

Hobbs and Shaw 2.5 The film follows US special agent Hobbs and British ex-special forces Shaw as they must team up to protect the ones they care about and defeat a super villain that wishes to unleash a harmful bio agent across the world. If Johnson was more within the world of the movie and if Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart were not here it’d probably get maybe a full star more.

Had to immediately reassure my wife that Ryan Reynolds would not be in the movie for very long when he popped up towards the start. This is what relationships are all about. A fun, goofy movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously… most of the time. I’ve got a soft spot for this pairing, and Leitch is a director who knows how to execute bombastic action set-pieces. Tiff’s one-sentence review: “why is this in my car movie?”. This was her response to seeing Dwayne Johnson’s Samoan heritage shoehorned into the movie and honestly it works pretty well as a review.
