Hot gay Dumbledore vs Magical Lecter might sound like a treat but it really, really isn’t. This is a movie about magic with the magic of movies beaten out of it by soulless writing, poor performances and above all so much nonsensical shit making it an arduous task to trudge through this sludge of vapid sepia coloured bullshit.

We are so blessed to live in a time where a major studio is being forced to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on sitting back and watching one of its golden goose properties twist itself into increasingly hilarious, incomprehensible, and financially disastrous knots trying to make its creator’s shallow political allegory narrative make sense with every extraneous piece of lore she made up on the spot to a fan who asked how progressive of an ally she was on Twitter a decade ago resulting in a movie where the overt text is “what if Donald Trump/Jeremy Corbyn was both gay and Hitler?” Good job everyone. Once again- with another convoluted plot- Fantastic Beats is back. Everything is this movie was incredibly underwhelming. Harry Potter as a franchise has always struggled with action but this movie is particularly bad. the subtlety of this iteration of grindelwald’s eyes, hair, and clothing, as well as the softness of his features make him all the more fearsome. a shock of white hair and the stark contrast of a black and a blue eye is almost novelty. but here, the enemy could really be anyone. and it’s impossible not to trust mads’ face.

Let me quickly tell you how you fix this terrible ending: The Qilin bows before Kowalski and he becomes the first muggle to ever represent wizardkind, breaking the barrier between both worlds AND you have already established in a previous scene how the Qilin recognises his heart. The Qilin bows to Albus and that right there is another mistake. Because after that, the fact that the creature bows before Santos diminishes her as a candidate and it feels far less impactful.

Was interesting to see more dumbledore but I just think Harry Potter worked so well due to the heavy world building and this one forgets to do that instead having many subplots at once. Didn’t care about credence the whole triology, the fantastic beast elements got lost, and the magic isn’t as good. The idea of a worldwide perspective on the magical world is so exciting but this falls flat.

Muito bom. Ainda me lembro de gritar no cinema ao descobrir que Dumbledore e Grindewald estavam apaixonados. Esse filme, ao contrário do outro, não é enjoativo ou triste demais. É bonito ver como Aberforth se importa com Aurélio, o sorriso e orgulho genuíno de Newt ao falar sobre Tina – que, apesar de tudo, ainda dá aquela estranha risadinha. Fico feliz que as coisas tenham dado certo. Só fico triste por Dumbledore. Pelo jeito como ele narra a sí mesmo, e por nunca permitir se aproximar.

Much of an improvement from the second. Mads Mikkelson was definitely the better of the two Grindelwalds. I wish Credence/Aurelias being a Dumbledore with Aberforth was explored a bit more. Also where was Tina?? She had two scenes, which was a let down. I love that Queenie made the right choice in the end. And her wedding dress? Gorgeous.
