stanley kubrick saw After Hours and thought “what if this wasn’t funny” fucking stunning. gotta sit with it for a while and maybe even watch it again, but wowowowow. really fantastic how kubrick nails the specifics of ‘sexiness’: the actual act of sex can be cold, strange, sometimes off-putting and often unsexy. the real allure of sex, is the pursuit and tension of it. it’s the promise and potential for sex, it’s the stray looks and the concocted fantasies, both good and bad, whether they’re your dreams or your fears. the conceit of sex is greater than even the best sex, because there’s an element of danger that makes it so enticing, and the culmination of that danger is often…

Tom flashing his medical license around like it’s a cop’s badge is the most unhinged thing in this movie.

the extent to which this movie hates male nudity is hilarious. like a woman sacrifices herself just so tom cruise won’t have to get his dick out. i am cackling.

I change my mind the ending is great and I love how it’s centred around one night only – an average Tuesday night! Deadass a damn good Christmas movie and really is about what it means to be family.

Stanley Kubrick made a 159-minute film about an insanely handsome Tom Cruise suffering a full existential crisis because his wife had a sexual thought. This movie is wildly horny (there are hella lot of boobs and asses on screen every five minutes) yet somehow Kubrick managed to make a room full of naked elite weirdos feel genuinely eerie and terrifying. Meanwhile, Bill flashes his doctor ID like an FBI badge to gatecrash the orgy, gets thoroughly traumatized, and wanders New…

I am genuinely shitting bricks I do not think I’ve been more scared in my life I think this film is a perfect film, but the ending conflicts me, not because it didn’t have a clean ending, but because it genuinely depicts Bill selling his child. I don’t think this is “out of character” or far fetched at all. We see the costume dude selling his kid, and she clearly knows about these parties and bill did nothing. Honestly, this…

Kubrick is just a genius and I love him. I also love this movie and I think it’s an absolute masterpiece. But I really gotta say, that it also made me feel uncomfortable and triggered me really at some points. I rarely felt that weird during a movie.. last time was Requiem for a dream i guess. I had so many questions after this movie- that’s some kinda Kubrick thing I think. You gotta see Eyes wide shut yourself to understand what I am talking about. Really worth watching ✌️

I have a lot of questions but I’m not getting answer about this movie!

Honestly took me a while to watch, through some parts I’d say it was a bit boring but I know most of Kubrick’s films are slow paced. I thought it was a very creative film, I’d never really seen anything like it before. Overall it was really good, I liked the use of mirrors, I felt they added more depth and understanding of illusion into the film.
