Love all the early parts that are designed to highlight the mechanized, dehumanizing cruelty of the prison structure. The effort to crush, humiliate, and maintain harsh uniformity. The introduction especially with that perfectly symmetrical cage-like imagery of the prison halls and Eastwood forced to walk them completely (literally) exposed as a piece of meat on an assembly line, which you can then draw a direct line to the later scene of a prisoner turning himself into chopped meat with a hatchet in protest. All of this entirely to provide a dramatic context/momentum to the 2nd half that is all taut, stripped-down engineering by both Eastwood and Siegal, who use as few words as possible and rely entirely on a Bressonian…

“We don’t make good citizens, but we make good prisoners” This was an enjoyable movie but it lacked a bit of tension and some characters were a bit too flat. The movie was also a bit slow but the story was well written enough for it to still be engaging most of the time, and despite it’s flaws I still had a good time with it. Clint Eastwood plays the smart and cool main character Frank, who we don’t really get to know anything about. This should make him an interesting and mysterious guy but instead it made him a smartass, who I didn’t didn’t care much for. He also had tons of stupid one liners, that didnt really…

That hurts the most. But the lack of respect hurts the second most.” A Siegel/Eastwood version of A Man Escaped? Yes please. Totally rocks. Almost unbearably suspenseful at times. Clint’s eyebrow and squint acting: off-the-charts. When it comes to movie-watching, this movie is pretty much the best-case scenario.

J’ai bien aimé. C’est le genre de film que j’aime et en plus c’est inspiré d’une histoire vraie, en revanche le film ne m’a pas vraiment procuré d’émotions et c’est ça qui manque beaucoup à mon goût. Le film manque d’impact sur le spectateur.

Flykten från Alcatraz. En rentav fantastisk film. Filmen handlar om en omtalad flykt från vad som sas vara det säkraste fängelset med noll lyckad rymningar. Jag tyckte filmen började lite långsamt men blev helt fängslande efter några minuter. Ett genomgående ”tema” jag såg var mystik. Allt ifrån kamera vinklar och dialoger till karaktärerna och deras bakgrunder. Man fick veta väldigt lite om karaktärerna dock tycker jag att det bara skapade mer spänning och mystik vilket höjde just den här filmen.…

كان اختيار عشوائي للفلم و شدني من البدايه وكملت وانا فعلًا ابي اعرف كيف بتنتهي سالفة الهروب واكثر شيء حزني واستفزني موضوع الرسام لما اخذوا منه ادواته كعقوبه حسيت تصرفهم كان قاسي وما كان له داعي خصوصًا ان الرسم كان الشي الوحيد اللي متعلق فيه وارفض تماماً هالمعامله للرسامين لأني رسامه يمكن لو ما كنت رسامه ما اهتميت لهالدرجه ههههههه الزبد فلم بسيط وحبيت اجواءه واستمتعت وانا اتابعه

Un bon film sur les célèbres évadés d’Alcatraz. Une bonne exécution. Rien de plus à ajouter, l’histoire d’origine est extrêmement connue et l’œuvre ne propose rien de transcendant. C’est un ensemble correct.

How fitting that the inescapable fortress notorious for its’ D-block sensory deprivation, and narrow solitary cells, would gradually crumble as a side effect of its’ own isolation. The salt water air, decomposing metal and disintegrating concrete, like a hubristic overstep. Alcatraz was designed as the ultimate prison, yet the structure couldn’t bear its’ own punishment. Escape from Alcatraz patiently studies the details; brilliantly devised yet plausible. Shawshank was clearly influenced by the dirt smuggling operation, but whereas the King adaptation peers into the drama of its’ inmates, Alcatraz remains razor focused. Beginning, and ending, with nail-biting sequences of hopelessness and hopefulness. {Watched Via Tubi}

Throughout the movie, I kept thinking about the mob of the dead crew and kept wondering how exactly they were going to build a plane, lol. I love how at the end, it is entirely up to the individual to theorize whether or not the crew was successful in their escape, or if they fell victim to nature. Nonetheless, this was an amazing, slow burn, prison break film! Clint Eastwood has been racist since the very beginning.

I love a “perfect movie” that isn’t aspiring to anything cosmic, it’s just a great story, well told. There’s not a single frame or cut or squinted eye that’s out of place in this. It’s perfect.

As a fan of slow-burn thrillers, I expected to love this one. And while I did enjoy it overall, it never quite managed to hold my attention. The tension just never felt high enough to keep me completely locked in. That being said, the ending sequence was a lot of fun and made the buildup worthwhile. A solid prison escape thriller, just one that didn’t quite reach the level of suspense I was hoping for.

I was expecting this to be on the level of “ The Shawshank redemption “ spoiler alert it wasn’t, but that’s also on me for putting such high expectations on it. Overall it was a good film, with some good performances and anxiety inducing scenes throughout, the overall story telling I felt like could have been better. The highlight was by far the escape sequence at the end. All together I had fun with.

Super cool how they filmed some of the movie at the actual Alcatraz prison. I think a toxic trait of mine is thinking I could swim to the mainland. And in case you were wondering, they used the same trained mouse throughout the whole movie. But you probably weren’t wondering that because you haven’t seen this movie cause you suck.

There’s always the possibility that some asshole will be offended. Isn’t there? Does feel a bit simplistic compared to the movies that came with the same blueprint but those could build up on proven techniques and could delve deep cause of their runtimes. Even with this having its own shortcomings, the tension building up was insane.
