Sometimes a character’s spell wouldn’t work very well and I’d think “oh they must not have rolled well on their ability check” so I would say overall a successful adaptation

We must never stop failing, because the minute we do, we’ve failed. I was supposed to play dnd today, but it got cancelled. So I watched this instead. I remember going to see it in cinemas. It was kinda a banger then, basically the same now. Edgin’s fun, even if his backstory and race are boring, Holga’s… fine (I have similar complaints about both of them). Then Simon and Doric are both good. Aside from that, the plot is good…

So much fun, love how the crew keeps failing and the little details (like the graveyard scene) that very much feel like you’re playing the game. Surprised this isn’t a franchise?

What a banger. I already loved this film but after playing baldurs gate it’s so much better, there is so much wonderful DnD bullshit and lore. I really hope they make a million of these films (there will never be a sequel)

Gostei.

Chris Pine firmly establishing his place as the Alpha Hollywood Chris. It’s incredibly fun! I think it had the perfect amount of D&D-ness. Lots of little stuff for me to point at the screen at Leo DiCaprio style, but not so much that it becomes inaccessible to a person with better hobbies.

Understands what makes tabletop games with friends fun, embraces the whimsy, still tells a serious and compelling story.

In full truth I was expecting to go into this and watch a mediocre action fantasy film yet this exceeds that with Chris Pine being a major contributor. The reason I acknowledge Chris Pine as a crucial factor is due to him perfectly playing this arrogant overconfident character who then evolves throughout the film (like a few others) and is really the heart of this film. Though there is a sense of predictability I did enjoy this and it was a great time.

Plenty of fun to watch and to gamify. Felt like the pointing Leo meme for most of it.

Really fun movie, I enjoyed it a lot even before i was really into D&D. Awesome music score & I think the acting is great. From a D&D standpoint I really liked the variety of species they showed in the background and how well they tied in locations and concepts from the Forgotten Realms into the movie. This is a movie i’d defend with my life

Watched this one tonight…. I admit I know nothing about Dungeons and Dragons. So I am sure there are things I missed, that most people familiar with the game would have picked up on in the movie and enjoyed more than someone like me who didn’t get it. I tried to follow this one as best as I could and I think I got the general idea most of the time. But I feel like this is definitely a film…

Felt like it tried a bit too hard to be a fantasy movie and tripped itself up
