crowd was dead silent for the entire film– except for when stephen mckinley henderson was on screen. everybody lost their damn minds. just absolutely constant screaming. throwing shit at the screen, taking flash photos. whole theater on beatlemania mode. large and loud boos the second he was off-screen, i couldn’t even hear the dialogue. heard sniffling in the audience when stephen mckinley henderson’s character offered his resignation, saw a father and son embracing in joy when oscar isaac turned it down. three rows started swag surfing when henderson’s eyes rolled in the back of his head. when his name came up in the credits it was like we won the super bowl or some shit. i quitely asked my friends…

I will never watch any kind of making-of documentary or behind-the-scenes featurette about Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. I don’t want to know how this film was made. I prefer to believe the extremely convincing illusion that Villeneuve somehow traveled to the year 10,191 and documented the strange civilization he encountered. Dune is full of stylization and visual artistry, but the future it conjures feel so complete and tactile that some segments play like a documentary of the world to come — which is an especially impressive feat since that world involves giant sandworms that consume everything that passes through their sphincter-like maws. -this is a great film and a great adaptation, a great introduction to the world of Dune -the characters are written well and relationships effectively established through compelling dialogue and consistent writing – no clunky or unnecessary exposition, the audience is treated with respect -the performances all round are stellar, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Stellan Starsgard, Josh Brolin, Jason Mamoa, Rebecca Ferguson and Timothee Chalamet are all great -the production is fantastic, all visual elements hit the nail on the…

In my opinion,it is Villeneuve’s weakest work. While the cinematography and visuals are absolutely breathtaking, they aren’t enough to rescue the film from its flaws. The movie is extremely slow-paced, spending far too much time on explanations and world-building instead of driving the story forward (although I do understand that this setup may be important for the next two parts). I never found the plot engaging enough, and it had no satisfying resolution or a traditional climax. Combine that with cold, emotionally distant characters who are tough to connect with, it ultimately felt like a beautifully shot, overlong introduction rather than an entertaining movie

Dune Part 1 is so perfectly paced. Each moment topping the last as you slowly piece together the world you have just been dropped into. Makes it easy when everything looks great. I also think this is one of the best scores for a Sci-fi film. It’s perfect.

I always wondered why people keep sleeping while watching this movie and now today i watched the movie for the first time and I did the same thing while watching it made me to sleep I like slow pace movies but this one is really slow I know this is just the beginning for their world building but even though🤷🏻‍♂️there are some scenes felt too good to watch and Zendaya as usual slow always🫠

8000 years in the future, we have giant misses we can shot from space, and they’re fighting in hand to hand with small knives. Heck, they have a giant laser gun the has a stupid long reach, 1 guy with that could just go back and forth with the enemy. Anyway, I liked the worms (●×●)

Watching this film and actually paying attention makes the plot a whole lot understandable, who would have thought? It is crazy how much of modern sci-fi’s influence you can see all over this movie, yet it still has such a unique style to it. While it still remains in the genre, the aesthetics still feel uniquely fantasy, which makes everything stand out so much. I cannot wait to watch part 2!

For how much I love this movie, including saying “this rocks” out loud like five times, it’s difficult to watch it without thinking about how much more stuff rocks in part two. Appreciative this go-around of the number of design choices they absolutely nailed that could have crippled the feeling of these movies. The voice, the ornithopters, the shields — all these elements come across so well on screen, all could have been decidedly lame on screen.
