”We kill ‘em all…let God sort ‘em out.” It’s a Predator x Resident Evil riff, with that classic mid-00s music video energy, lots of rock-solid practical effects, and The Rock at one point saying “if it breathes, kill it.” Speaking of, his performance as a psychotic trigger-happy sergeant is highly entertaining. He gets almost all the best lines and delivers them with a pure and hilariously overdramatic menace. Love this goofy stuff, the first-person shooter sequence still rules too.

Cheesy, violent and badass – supported by the ruthless performances of The Rock (back when he actually tried) and Karl Urban, crafted with the orange-blue aesthetic of early 2000s blockbuster filter of horror-adventure like no other. Only giving this a two star because I watched this when I was 8 and at the same time, tried raisin pudding (redacting its ACTUAL NAME) for the first time and then threw up and idk just not the best memory for me. One of my top favorite movies. period. Is it good – maybe, probably not. Does it have questionable lines from some of the characters – yes. Do I actively (and unnecessarily) quote it – also yes. I don’t know what else you could ask for in a movie – Karl Urban saving the day, Dwayne The Rock Johnson as the enemy with the sharp teeth and glowing eyes, and a whole first person perspective uncut scene. That first person shooter perspective shot was so fun. I found out from my brother that it was based off of a game beforehand but if I hadn’t known by then I definitely would have suspected after. Whole film visually, language-wise, and plot-wise feels like Resident Evil in space(ish). Both Urban’s and Pike’s accent slips were entertaining too, I can’t believe my brother and mother didn’t recognise Mr Billy Butcher even with that going on.

Have never seen this movie, but I just beat the Revelations DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages and it was really hard, and there’s no Letterboxd for video games. if there is I do not want to know about it

I get where the hate comes from even if this was a pretty fun film for me, the removal of Hell is quite a stupid change and I think that’s definitely what pissed people off, I don’t see what’s so hard about making a film about Hell invading, it’s not like they made anything here any more believable. I like that it’s more DOOM 3 than anything else it makes it pretty unique and I like the prop and set design. I had a blast and the music was quite good. I had fun with the FPS section.

A fair attempt to try and recreate the vibes of an 80s action movie. If this had Stallone or Arnie or someone with that level of charisma this could’ve/would’ve been a classic! Also lowkey, the camera movements and framing were great.

Despite the negative reviews, it’s actually pretty good. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has some pretty good knee-slapper one-liners. Shoot gun, kill le bad enemies. 5/5.

- Synopsis
