alright now.. what the hell is this? i honestly can’t believe that there are people out there who actually enjoyed this! the acting is terrible, the story isn’t much better, and the visuals effects are so awful, it’s comical. what’s even more sad is that the punch lines, which were actually meant to be funny, were the least funny parts of the entire movie. if you can make it through this without getting bored and choosing to be on your phone for most of the runtime, you deserve a medal. seriously, the was bad.

“Hello..? Hello..? Is anybody there? Hello?” No wait, not that one. All this noise and shit going on for zero substance and zero suspense. All this energy just to be fucking abysmal. I cannot believe they traded on Day of The Dead’s name. So 2008. The colour grading and shaky cam. At least the dead are gross looking and the practical gore is good. The CGI however… and boy there’s a lot of it. Nothing about the script makes fuckin sense, it’s all over the place, and it has some of the worst, most inexplicable transformations and dumbass parkour zombies I’ve ever seen. “My friends call me Bud.” Furious, furious that it could even possibly be aligned to Bub. As soon…

Day of the Dead is a 2000s zombie joint I threw on right after my Twilight marathon, and I vaguely remembered watching it when I was younger, but that hazy memory turned out to be for good reason, because this is truly atrocious stuff. It’s got a solid cast, sure, but everyone’s clearly phoning it in for the paycheck, and the end result is as generic as they come. The constant, jittery camera movement gives the illusion of energy, but there’s absolutely nothing happening beneath it… just a series of random, lifeless scenes stitched together with ridiculous dialogue and even more absurd zombie action. It’s that unmistakable DTV-level zombie fare that only exists because someone, somewhere thought “zombies still sell.” Unless you’re on a mission to watch every zombie film ever made, this one’s definitely not worth your 80 minutes.

31 DAYS OF HORROR 2023 – Film 26 Sarah Bowman is a corporal in the United States military tasked with helping her unit quarantine her hometown of Leadville, Colorado during an outbreak of what is being called a flu-like illness. Things fall apart rapidly as the illness is revealed to be a zombie outbreak. Following the success of Zack Snyder’s highly regarded Dawn of the Dead remake, it was only a matter of time until the third in the original trilogy, Day of the Dead would get the remake treatment, but this one is generally shat upon. It’s one of those direct to video low budget high CGI flicks of the era. With a quick glance at the credits I…

,,Day of the Dead’’ is a bad film by any means, but when the zombie mayhem starts at about 24 minutes in, it’s just nonstop fun! The fast pacing and its action oriented and cartoonish approach make it very enjoyable and the 85 minutes run by like nothing. Mena Suvari (Sarah) is a great heroine and fitting lead and Nick Cannon (Salazar) is one of the most badass characters in any zombie flick. Just don’t expect a proper remake to Romero’s zombie classic ,,Day of the Dead’’, instead better toss it aside and turn off your brain. This film belongs in the list of my top 20 favourite zombie films: boxd.it/n2G5E

Following the success of the Dawn of the Dead remake, I suppose it was only a matter of time before the next film in Romero’s series got the same treatment. This remake of Day of the Dead is woeful. While Dawn took ideas from the original and fashioned a new experience out of it, this film has literally nothing to do with Day of the Dead. I reckon someone had a poor zombie script lying around and the title was slapped on it. The characters are bad, the actors look bored, there’s no interesting new ideas and the zombies come off as ridiculous rather than terrifying. CGI zombies spinning around on the ceiling – what we’re they thinking?? Its all so pointless aswell; there’s no actual story here, it just goes through the motions of a predictable zombie outbreak. And it makes no sense. Terrible from start to finish.

And just like that, viewing each remake of George Romero’s original Dead Trilogy comes to a close. If completing the Tom Savini remake of Night, the Zack Snyder remake of Dawn, and now the Steve Miner remake of Day of the Dead accomplished one thing, it was increasing an appreciation for what was already my favorite horror trilogy. Especially after this hollow, completely unnecessary “remake” of perhaps my favorite film in existence. There are so many incredible elements that could have served as a great jump off for a revision that the 2008 version could have looked to for a decent, action-first retelling. Rather than revel in any of the original’s plethora of political and existential themes though, Steve Miner’s…

Why did the zombies move as if they were werewolves? They were so nimble and had quite a leap. Boring plot and horrendous effects. Steve Miner ranked

Garbage. Just pure, unadulterated, time wasting, audience insulting, head ache inducing garbage. It’s like it’s turning you into a zombie just from watching it. This was just Day of the Dead in name only, as the events of the movie is all set at night, or unless if the title is instead insulating that “Day” in this context, means the zombie outbreak was happening during the course of the whole day, but I’m not buying that at all. The producers were just seeing dollar signs. The most basic premise, the unlikable characters, the awful CGI effects, the “zombies”, if you can call them that, the jump scares, etc. are all things that make for what, is basically a SyFy television…

“This shit is ridiculous. I mean, why Thriller over here ain’t trying to eat us?” “He’s a vegetarian.” The US Army seals off a small Colorado town to contain an influenza-type epidemic while the hospitals are overflowing with patients. Corporal Sara Cross (Mena Suvari) is distraught about the developments because her family lives in town as well. While enforcing the quarantine, she stumbles across bodies which have seemingly been bitten by other people … Day of the Dead is a post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Steve Miner. It’s a remake of George A. Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead (my review). The remake has no connections to other films, neither those in Romero’s own Night of the Living Dead…
