64 A cozy autumnal slice of comfort horror. Felt like a Goosebumps episode with the gruesome edge of something like Barbarian. Pretty stupid that this Halloween-set horror film was unceremoniously dropped in July to die in the midst of Barbenheimer season. Release it in October, you cowards! It’s a suitably creepy movie and a nasty mean streak reveals its hand in the third act. Plenty of pumpkins throughout! 🎃

This had so much potential… I felt like some of the ideas were interesting but I also felt like I was watching 5 different unfinished somewhat boring movies thrown into one. How did she go from being born with a deformity to a whole ass spider girl? Where did she shit? I know damn well the walls stank, Why couldn’t she just open the hole in peters room? the teacher broke the wall down in less than 2 minutes. I read a review that said “Barbarian for kids” and they’re spot on, it was exactly that. The only cool/scary scene for me was Peters dream where Homelander had that creepy ass smile and the Mom was in the hallway looking fiercely demonic, they ATE. They also got the Halloween ambiance on point but that’s sadly it, everything else I didn’t care for.

L’histoire avait du potentiel, notamment avec le fait qu’on ne sache pas trop qui est le méchant entre les parents et la fille dans le mur, cependant elle s’accélère trop vers la fin et ne prends pas le temps de bien raconter les choses. Et ce qui a tout gâché c’est le reveal de la fille araignée : si t’as pas de budget garde la tête cachée par des cheveux comme t’as fait tout le film mais pitié ne nous montre pas cette abomination de personnage qui fait cheap et pas crédible du tout.

My friend suggested this for a horror night movie, we were many persons watching that mivie in which it was very boring and didn’t focus on it for 5 minutes. Véritablement le film qui m’a fait le plus peur depuis The Descent. Je ne m’y attendais pas du tout mais alors Cobweb est une masterclass d’horreur. C’est drôle parce que la grande majorité des avis que je lis trouvent que le film est bon dans sa première moitié et gâche tout dans la seconde ; pour moi c’est l’inverse. Lizzy Caplan was channelling some Isabelle Adjani from Possession vibes in this one, love that. I feel like Miss Devine is doing too much for a substitute teacher, which is nice to see but not so much in a horror movie. SPOILER: If that thing really is a child, I feel really sorry for her. Loucura! O filme apresenta um ritmo bastante rápido na medida que vai crescendo a ameaça principal que é subtendida. A trama trabalha o psicológico do personagem principal e do telespectador causando assim uma confusão sobre o que realmente está acontecendo! O ato final é frenético e sem sentido, mas, isso é o grande triunfo da história que tem um desfecho totalmente surpreendente e ousado. Muitos vão odiar o desfecho final, mas, não se pode negar que foi tudo bem construído e sombrio! Detalhe importante foi que na minha sessão tinha uns adolescentes fazendo piada em alguns momentos que me fez tirar boas risadas.
