78 Oh, gee, a hard-R comedy about sex positivity and the reconciliation of awkwardness between parental/adolescent relationships? And directed by a woman? Well don’t mind if I do.

a wonderful motion picture. post-Apatow par excellence. sweet, well-realized, and almost constantly funny — even the butt-chugging nonsense is couched in a way that makes it work. butt-chugging is cool now. also, has any movie from the late ’90s aged worse than AMERICAN BEAUTY? that’s not a rhetorical question. the answer is: CHASING AMY. but that might be it. anyway, this rules, best multiplex comedy in a minute, good job everyone.

favorite part is hunter not at all being concerned about his daughter having sex but being concerned about his daughter feeling the peer pressure to have sex with a guy because he already knows she’s gay

John Cena is really funny in this. I wish everything else in this film is as funny as he is.

This was so funny. John and Leslie were perfect parents.

Slowly becoming one of my favourite comedies. Everyone is so funny in this. John Cena and Ike Barinholtz my two personal favourites. This is now a comfort film for me. I normally don’t laugh out loud at movies but this for this one I make an exception. Highly recommend, possibly one of the most underrated comedies of all time.

Just a riot. Such a funny movie. I don’t like vomit though to much vomit in this. Could of used more June Diane Raphael and Hannibal Buress
-
N
Better then i expected. Its legit a good coming of age story. Very funny and entertaining. A top level comedy
-
B
Still a solid comedy. Unsurprisingly Hannibal Buress is the funniest person in this.

Have you guys seen inferno????

Another underrated comedy, lmfao 😭😭

It’s basically American Pie, except the parents here were around the same age as the kids in American Pie when American Pie came out, so they are naturally very wise to the horrors presented in American Pie and intent on stopping their kids from their own American Pie.
-
I
cena’s, mann’s, and barinholtz team chemistry saves this movie
-
R
some parts were senti, bored with them otherwise mad entertaining

So 2018 and I love it

This is what American Pie: Girls Rules could have & should have been. No idea how I went 8 years not knowing this movie was hilarious.

Cute movie, why were the three main parents hot. Also does john cena have to show ass in every movie he’s in? Like is it in his contract?
-
P
The movie itself is pretty dumb, but there are some funny moments sprinkled throughout.

I did watch this
-
A
I thought it was really funny and the scene after they crash the car and the one dad kinda breaks down is one of the best performances I’ve seen honestly. Of all things in a comedy movie. Also anything with John cena in it is good.
-
S
Wow I’m I glad that I’m done with college 🤣 this was a much better watch with Romen, he really enjoyed it Yas Queen!! Sal is so funny in this, Leslie and John and Ike are the best trio!! They gotta make a second one or make more movies together Dylan from The Quarry is hilarious with that smirk and how nonchalant he is

Needed to pass the time downloaded another random hbo max comedy for a 2 hr roadtrip. Film is boring in a lot of moments. Missing a lot of humor. John Cena butt chugging was hilarious everything else was not at least it ends with a heartfelt ending

6.5/10 I’ve somehow watched this movie three times now and I’ve laughed out loud at Hunter’s delivery of “just don’t even fuck with a filter” every single time.

enjoyable watch, would’ve been rated higher if frank and hunter took over the movie

Ike Barinholtz is easily the best part of this film. Never thought he would consistently become an actor im excited to see pop up in comedies

I watched this for John Cena. Edit: saw a review that reminded me about the part that guys dad locks eyes with John cena as he cums in his wife and that made me laugh a lot so I give one half more star

John Cena’s magnum opus.
-
P
It’s actually pretty funny. Logic off, but comedy movie at the end of the day. Freedom of sexuality should be explored
-
C
Some bland dialogue, baffling editing, and very uncomfortable scenes, but a really sweet emotional core and John Cena is just so effortlessly funny that I had a really good time with it.

John Cena playing a dad will never not be funny.

What I thought it would be. Leslie Mann awkwardly trying to be cool in every movie where she’s a mom

B
John Cena is the goat wrestler actor. Such a funny and endearing coming-of-age that is shaped around the parents’ views
-

the first time i saw this was on a whim with a friend and i remembered liking it so i gave it another chance and im GLAD i did. i’ve now decided this movie is majorly underrated & i wish more people talked about it. #ilovejohncena

Super surprised at just how much I got to laugh at this movie. Realistic, funny, and enjoyable to watch. John Cena was a standout in the cast.

once upon a time we all knew bad bangs, snooping parents convinced sex would ruin our lives, that one dad who somehow just got it, a friend group you planned to take to the grave, and no restraint with emojis. still love this movie!! have you seen inferno.

so this coming of age movie is a hard “r” comedy that i chuckled thru. that being said its not one of the better ones. it does however have john cena and for some reason i haven’t seen a movie that he’s in that i hate. it’s fine is what im saying. i hope no one has a story that is similar to what happens in the movie. parents trying to stop you on prom night

John Cena The Shining reboot
-
C
Had a few laughs. Could’ve done without the naked blindfolded “robbery” scene. But other than that it was a decent first watch. I probably won’t like it if I watch it a second time so let’s keep it at one.
-
A
Ike Barinholtz asking about Inferno is one of my favorite throwaway lines in a comedy of the last 10 years.
-
P
Made me laugh a few times but overall just not a great movie Extremely cookie cutter with a mix of raunchiness that they think will freshen it up (spoiler it doesn’t) Cena, his daughter, and Ike give decent performances but other than that it’s a shit show Did love the horror style shots they had for like 2 minutes in the middle and then it went right back to being poorly edited

Hunter solo quería que su hija tuviera un recuerdo chévere de su graduación 😭😭😭 I feel that porque soy una hija ultra sobreprotegida

S
I didn’t realize this was almost 8 years old, feels pretty contemporary, don’t know what that means for passage of time, but a generally wholesome sex comedy with heart and contemplation on growing up and time passing, and kinda reinforces the weird contemporary puritanical societal beliefs
-
D
This is a pretty brilliant sex-comedy with heart. It’s a shame I skipped this one in 2018. It’s exactly the kind of theatrical comedy I miss seeing with a crowd in 2026.
-
B
This was horrid. I really resent media that hinges on the relatability of champagne problems. There’s probably something to this premise, but the script doesn’t seem to believe it. It’s too convinced that parental oversight is absurd to actually find humor in it. As such, the movie NEEDS the leads to comfortably make 7 figures a year to end up in each scene—garish block party, massive house party, opulent hotel party. A film ostensibly about the frazzled relationships between parents…

Didn’t pay attention when I did it was funny

John Cena and especially Ike Barinholtz are fucking hilarious as always, but the rest is kinda meh. The adult characters carry heavily
-
Q
Such a charming, funny, and surprisingly emotional movie. Everyone is great in it but the parents are fantastic. John Cena is amazing and this is the movie that made we want to watch anything he was in from that point forward.

Well I had fun. Hunter was my favorite parent, he means a lot to me. “Am I a team player? I just chugged a 40 with my asshole. I’m a team player.”

seen this one a few times now, for some reason, and this watch I realized how much more entertained I was when the parents were on screen. the daughters’ bits are just so uncaptivating and I find myself struggling to care about them. everything else, though, is top notch, and the scene where the two freak parents are blindfolded and stalking each other naked through the house is ridiculously funny.

It is definitely a good play on prom night shenanigans, and it is one of the funnier comedies of the 2010s. I think this film is one of the first that really made me pay attention to John Cena as an actor. It has a great cast, a lot of enjoyable moments, and some nice messaging. It is nothing overly original, yet I always have a good time watching it.

An hour and 40 minutes of John Cena wanting to kill Miles Robbins That was such a fun watch 😆
-
M
Fun movie which felt like it was building up to something much bigger but didn’t feel fulfilling enough. Also, there are some very good moments of actual emotion but I wished one of them in particular wasn’t bogged down immediately by a corny joke. Overall pretty decent with likable characters and good performances across the board.
-
S
only good part is that there was a lesbian
-
J
I laughed more than a handful of times, and I think it’s a pretty interesting story at its core. Points for queer rep that is about simply someone figuring out WHO they are without the added baggage of what they should be. It honestly added a lot to the film and what it’s trying to talk abt via comedy
1 -
C
weird that leslie mann and ike barinholtz kept talking like there was another guy there.. 🤷♀️ anyway this movie is so 2018 it almost feels like a period piece

A consistently solid comedy with lots of hysterical, raunchy humor. The Leslie Mann, John Cena, Ike Barinholtz trio is super entertaining. It isn’t all that deep and some parts have always annoyed me, but it’s still a fun time.

Also way funnier than i remembered….maybe this alcohol thing does make a difference

Blockers, directed by Kay Cannon, and starring John Cena, Leslie Mann, and Ike Barinholtz offers a new twist on the Apatow-style 2000’s comedy. The films tells the story of three girls who have made a pact to lose their virginity on prom night and the efforts of their parents who want to intercede. Barinholtz delivers as the divorced loser dad and Mann plays her usual up-tight but out-of-sorts mom role quite capably. Cena is solid as the gentle-hearted dad. The…

It’s a sex comedy but not in the tradition of all out raunchiness. It felt a little too safe at times. Maybe because it was mostly from the parent’s perspective. Or maybe it’s because it focused on teen female sex lives rather than males. I think many people think that with males you can go a lot further into the ridiculousness in teen sex comedies. This did feel more authentic with the girls actually thinking of the before and after…

Funny movie i laughed out loud a bit. Thinking about how my parents are now empty nesters made this feel sweet too. Wanna grab a drink? You guys wanna grab a drink? How bout a drink?

C
Funny movie definitely a late 2010s movie with the humor. I do enjoy the subversion of the sex pact following girls instead of guys.
-

This movie was genuinely super funny, I feel like the beginning and end moved a bit fast and just cut to the chase but it was still great and John Cena was super hilarious

Great premise. Such poor execution that it feels like it was released with a drama edit: with minimal score/sound design and most importantly, no humour besides uninspired and repeated Gen X vs Gen Z jokes. Superbad this aint. Leslie Mann and (to my surprise) John Cena earn the entirety of the goodwill.

Movie 355: 1 hr and 42 minutes Honestly a good family movie, especially in today’s era
-
N
Extremely funny premise wasted on a slop movie. There were a couple good jokes, but John Cena definitely carried. I’d love to see someone try this premise with a completely different story.
