This came out before Fresh Prince ended!😨 My mind is blown by that! Smithy plays a sexy bad boy in movies😎 and a goofy (30 year old) teen in a sitcom👶. Surprising range! Movie is fun, though. Really fun!🤯 You get all the fights👊, explosions💥 & Dopiness🚓 you expect from a Michael Bay movie. Sun Soaked stupidity but the 3 leads have chemistry and make it pop.☀️

The chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence carried this script on its back honestly. It’s pretty standard as far as buddy cop movies go but something about those two is just really fun to watch. I didn’t always like the humor and I didn’t always like the action. But the two leads + Tea Leoni were charming and made it work.

The plot is basic, however the bromance and the constant bickering between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, result to some genuine funny moments. And along with Michael Bay’s stylized direction, cinematography tone, flashy edits and kick ass soundtrack, makes up for an entertaining watch for sure. The screenplay is solid barring a few dull moments. More than the story, it is all about the dynamic duo here, the moment you fall in love with those characters, you gonna start loving the show like crazy.

I can distinctly remember trying to convince myself at the age of 14 that I liked this movie, because it seemed like the sort of thing I *should* like — big action, wise-cracking cops, dudes shooting other dudes in slow-motion. But even at that age I knew in my heart of hearts that this thing was a dud; and it looks even worse now, not even Michael Bay bad, but Michael-Bay-doing-Tony-Scott-doing-Bruckheimer-and-Simpson-bad. The plot makes no sense whatsoever (why can’t they just tell Tea Leoni which cop is which?) the bad guy is beyond generic, and even by the lax standards of an action movie the sets are surprisingly combustible (I get that there are ether cans everywhere, but is, like,…

There’s a moment in the scene where Will Smith chases down a speeding SUV on foot where you can witness Michael Bay being born. I applauded, alone in my living room.

Only watched this in preparation for bad boys II as part of my post Hot Fuzz film watch Pros – Will Smith & Martin Lawrence’s chemistry is off the charts – Will Smith chasing down an SUV on foot – Witnessing the birth of bayhem – Some nice shots here and there – The final action sequence Cons – pretty much everything else, it’s kind of crazy how dull it ends up being

finally watched ts, banger. very humorous, laughed multiple times. i’m a little confused on how this became a popular film in philly tho, i guess because of will smith but the movie takes place all the way down in miami 😭

Bad Boys is one of the best buddy cop action movies. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have a strong dynamic, the humor is great, and Michael Bay’s direction provides entertaining action sequences. It’s not as well-written as something like Beverly Hills Cop, Lethal Weapon, or Rush Hour, but Bad Boys is still a highly enjoyable film.

I watch this every couple years hoping to reclaim it but it’s just too stupid and vapid to elevate. Bay really isn’t even that good of an action director he’s just one of the best ever at making movie stars look incredible.
