There are 2-3 bits in this that are among the most striking horror scenes of the decade, where you feel completely submerged in its liminal surroundings. Calling it just claustrophobic feels like a disservice – more suffocating. As with the original idea of the backrooms, the first hour and a bit is fully clouded by uncertainty, bridging the gap between psychological states and limitless passageways. There’s one scene in particular that is found footage in its finest form, and had my body reacting in a variety of ways – I’m talking sitting up, heart rapidly beating, etc. Lots of eye-catching visual trickery for a first-time director too. Feels wonderfully restrained and patient. However, it never quite achieves those heights again.…

i loved the concept that the backrooms is basically an evil manifestation forged with the trauma of the people. the way the rooms are a more twisted form of the real life places absolute kudos to the director, Kane Parsons who was only 20 years old when the movie got released i would’ve never guessed that a movie would’ve been made on one of my favourite lores of liminal spaces

la matière filmée est juste géniale. pour le coup je suis d’accord que le meilleur moyen de traiter des backrooms est le cinéma. dommage qu’on y ait ajouté un scénario qui tue le film. le film pouvait très bien tenir sans scénario, les backrooms en soit sont déjà tellement une idée géniale. refaisons le sans hollywood et on tiendra un truc super, je pense.

Found footage meets liminal dread. Parsons succeeds at what he’s good at – creating a creepy, liminal space that defies reality. The sequences in the backrooms are very strong. The issue with the movie as a whole is that he struggles to fully flesh out his characters, rather moving them like game pieces to get back to the backrooms. At times this makes things feel rushed or development feel unearned.

Yeah uhm wtf was this I enjoyed every second of it. Such an original story line I especially appreciated how some scenes were shot, where there didn’t happen anything but because it was just not right, it creeped you out. The worst movie I’ve seen this year so far. I’m a huge fan of the YouTube series and so expected a lot from this film, but Kane for some reason decided to changed the plot which was completely unnecessary and made this movie so bad for me. Although throughout it by some clever moves he keeps going back to those original videos, the film does not have that liminal look at all, instead focuses on main hero’s feelings. Not scary btw

Like the Found Footage short… they didn’t lie about there being a lot of rooms. I was engaged throughout and enjoyed the tense music and wonderful set design. Kane Parsons did the right thing to cast two amazing actors as the leads. The later scene in the kitchen was very engaging and hit the core emotional points well. Kudos to all involved, who created an original horror movie here with a sense of dread that worked for me.

An interesting take on the backrooms. Well made, well acted, and I think it communicates its ideas consistently and clearly. It set out to tell a story about getting lost in unhealthy patterns of thinking, and it did it. The only reason I’m not rating it higher is because I simply don’t find that take on the backrooms all that entertaining – I’ve always enjoyed the loneliness, the rot, the suspense without payoff. Obviously that wouldn’t make as good a movie as this, though.

No sabía qué esperar, me ecanta el estilo de Kane pero no sabía si al saltar a un largometraje se aguantaría bien. Sin embargo se ha adaptado al lenguaje cinematográfico muy MUY bien, la forma en la que crea suspense, cocinando taaaan lento, hace que el último tramo te estés agarrando a la butaca contando tus respiraciones. Los personajes son profundos en su simpleza, y cómo la metáforma de las backrooms les afecta de forma distitna. Coming in to this movie I didn’t know what to except because there was so many mixed reviews about how it didn’t make since. But I think that’s the point we’re not supposed to make sense of it, I mean the entire backrooms is meant to be confusing and unknown. I really think Kane Pixels done an amazing job of capturing the essence of not fully understanding anything but at the same time understanding it better than we started the movie. I don’t know though I really enjoyed this one and don’t think it deserves any of the hate. 8.5/10

This movie was so much better than I expected it to be. The revel of the “entity” is so well done. The end was really meaningful and underlined the overall messege of everything existing so good.

The horror in this movie is amazing, I love found footage/tape recorded horror. And this film captures that perfectly with a good reason for the characters to be recording. Also the themes of not being able to change and that killing you is really well executed using the 2 main characters Mary and Clark. I love the acting as well it is incredible.

I applaud the film for trying something new on the screen. It felt like they set up a several different story arcs, none of which came to fruition. Maybe that’s how you’re supposed to fill at the end of this film. I object greatly to the portrayal of the therapist. Like most portrayals in media this one is a gross misrepresentation of the professionalism of providers.

Solid acting. Set design is insane. A trippy watch. But yeahhhh that’s about all I’ve got. I love when ambiguity is used well in movies, but I fear this relies on it a bit too much for my personal taste. And there was just a lot of…waiting. Glad I watched it all the same

Not many modern movies stick with a person days after one watches the movie, much less has them guessing and theorizing, this movie accomplishes that perfectly. The set and costume design in this movie is amazing, it seriously helps build a sense of familiarity and unease at the same time. The highlight however of this movie is a character writing and acting. The actors did a phenomenal job and the writing was top notch, so much so it rivals many major Hollywood productions.

sadly was not as good as i had hoped. fell very flat at so many different points, i was bored for a lot of it, and there wasn’t really a point where i felt like there was a main conflict that was happening. it was fine tbh. visually amazing but plot wise? not too good at all

Kane Pixels(Parsons) directorial debut was a success. While knowledge of the source material is somewhat required, the film is still digestible for those who are unfamiliar with the creepypasta or Kane’s universe he has built on his YouTube channel. The film itself does a great job at fleshing out the anomaly of the backrooms. An enjoyable chase of the carrot on the stick if you are invested in the source material.
