Man…this hit the spot. Life was so good when this hit theaters. Fresh out of my first year of film school, Youtube was just a little hobby at the time, I was working at a small ice cream shop called The Dairy Delight. Opening weekend me and a friend went to see this in the middle of a hot summer day and I was like “man this is such a first-year-out-of-film-school-and-working-at-an-ice-cream-shop-in-the-middle-of-the-summer type of thing for me to do!” The stakes were low and this movie went really nicely with that kind of energy. Really do think this is one of the coolest movies out there, very lucky to be alive and young when it’s so fresh. Almost, ALMOST, makes me forgive Ansel for what he’s put me through these last few days. He’s just so damn attractive.

I’m an Edgar Wright guy and this was enjoyable but I feel like it’s just a slightly elevated version of a movie I’ve seen 100 times before.

Broom! Broom! Broom! This is basically everything Edgar Wright got and perfected for years, every scene, every action scenes, even the dialogues in the intro are the beat of the music. Overall I loved it (love the subtle yet funny humor)

Review of Baby Driver This was an very interesting movie that for sure the action was intense. The cast was very stack with names I’ve recognized like Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Jon Bernthal, and Jon Hamm to name a few. Each seen was very action pack and that made it enjoyable for sure. All I’ma say is the ending was unexpected. The music was so good as it was super in sync with each scene which I never even noticed…

This was tough to sit through. Had to speed-run half because it was so wildly corny, awkward, and predictable, and not in a fun way. It’s redeeming quality was the music, while fantastic, immediately made me feel as if Ansel Elgort was a piss-poor casting choice. (If it were up to me, I think LaKeith Stanfield would’ve killed the role of Baby back in 2017). While watching this shit I got the same feeling as I did watching (500) Days of Summer, another highly recommended/rated movie that made me want to rip my hair out.

Holy DETAILS. EDGAR UR KILLING ME WITH THIS. The ones I caught: 1- The opening credits appear in front of a building’s facade that looks like an open road. 2- When walking to meet Deborah, Baby passes a black graffiti heart on a wall. After meeting her, the graffiti heart magically is red. 3- When they rob the bank, the dude who loses his weapon is the only one that stepped off the car without his Strap on. Beyond this, just a fucking vibe, through and through. Cool ass movie.

The score is unbeatable, the concept is unique, and the music matches the action scenes perfectly without becoming a distraction. I’ve probably watched it about 9 times and still find small details the movie is packed with. A true piece of art.
