Last film of 2018 for me. Fun to see a younger Willem. And my fave scene of the film was Randall Park’s cameo. He always make me smile. Sicily scene was quite engaging. (maybe because it was one of the few scenes out of the water) James Wan is great at establishing geography for the audience. I could actually follow the action. Watched at Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis, Burnaby, BC in AVX 3D DOLBY ATMOS

Absolutely ridiculous but incredibly fun if you can turn your brain to mush and sit back and enjoy great action with sub par CGI. The Black Manta Suit was great. The quick and easy way to describe the film in a sentence is if JJ Abram’s wanted to do Star Trek underwater. It still holds great memories to me as I took my family to see this Christmas Day so it felt better than it actually was. Kinda wish I didn’t buy the steelbook to rewatch because it lost a lot of its magic.

C’est le genre de film clivant par excellence : soit on adhère à la proposition, soit on décroche, mais impossible de nier la générosité et l’ambition visuelle de l’œuvre. L’univers sous-marin déploie une richesse folle, oscillant entre mythologie antique, opéra SF et fresque épique. Jason Momoa impose un charisme brut qui réinvente complètement le personnage, porté par des scènes d’action d’une ampleur colossale et une direction artistique assumée de A à Z. Un divertissement généreux, spectaculaire et visuellement marquant.

While far from a great movie, this is a fun movie from start to finish. Lots of great visuals, lots of great unique action as Aquaman gets taken on an adventure across the sea. Genuinely surprised when I saw this one and though I haven’t rewatched it, I’d be happy to have it on any time. Me when I am a man who is aqua: (very based) A little too long and at times way too corny with it’s dialogue (almost has some “KAL-EL NOOO” type moments, specifically with the teenage Aquaman) but also the movie is still weirdly accurate with it’s depiction and history of Atlantis from what I have read of the comics, and while the movie does look a bit unattractive at times, it has an equal amount of scenes that look genuinely fucking awesome and insane. Is it goofy? Yes. But also I fucked with it well enough to say it was a decent time and experience.
