When Jason Biggs arrived to the set on the day of the pie scene, do you think he sensed that this would be the moment that would define his life?

now i know why my mom didn’t let me watch this with her when i was a kid. i take back every time i’ve called myself a pervert. lord forgive me for i have sinned and grant me the strength to look at an apple pie again. in the mighty name of jesus i rebuke the spirit of american pie. i renounce my sins. i renounce my degeneracy. i would like to formally apologise to god for having eyes and the free will to watch this willingly

J’adore.

As a child born in 1980, the world of the sex comedy was plentiful. I saw the ‘best’ part of Zapped by the age of 9, a close friend regaled me with scenes from H.O.T.S. soon after, and there were rumours of something called The Sex O’Clock News. However, by the nineties, most of these primo sex comedies had dried up…so the release of American Pie in 1999 was a revelation to the pre-pubescent and a trip down memory lane…

This movie is lightning-in-a-bottle. It was just as good when I first watched it—also, one of the best endings to a movie. Eugene Levy is a gem. Fuck Ryan Reynolds for cursing him out on the red carpet that one time. Reynolds is a piece of shit you can’t do that to a legend. Put some respect on Levy’s name buddy.

This movie seems to have reconfigured my desires post-grad. Some might jump to the conclusion I’ve changed my mind about going to a homeless shelter immediately after graduation due to my degree. However that isn’t a desire but more a destination that has many pathways extending from it but still it leads to the same point b. I was in fact referring to the objective of having a partner. Forgive my language but with all these people in the world…

This film is your typical nineties romantic comedy but with more boobs and sex than usual. Since it is more focused on the comedy aspect, it has only two serious but really generic relationship storylines, surrounded by random jokes and antics to keep you entertained. The soundtrack was a nice listen though.

American Pie is less a movie about sex than it is a metaphorical car crash between adolescence and adulthood four teenage boys flooring the accelerator toward adulthood while having absolutely no idea where the brakes are. It takes the awkwardness of growing up and throws it into a blender with hormones, humiliation, friendship and an almost pathological obsession with getting laid. Every character is essentially a different flavour of teenage insecurity: the desperate romantic, the cocky athlete, the socially awkward…
