Ethan Hawke estuvo excelente igual (y el copiloto al principio revolviendo el mate con la bombilla??? Un rotundo NO) — Watching this after Society of the Snow with Latin actors, and done with so much dedication and respect, ends up being really bad in comparison unfortunately. Ethan Hawke was great here though (and the co-pilot at the beginning stirring the mate with the straw??? A resounding NO)

Time has been cruel on this one.. some of the dramatic moments come off as comical and the soundtrack is very dated sounding .. it’s a truly compelling story though and worth a watch if your looking for a good survival story .. they went thru hell and back ..

Antonio led and guided everyone. He was trying to encourage everyone around him and helped everyone after the crash to fulfil his duty as a captain, but poor thing, even after trying everything to save his people, the avalanche took him and Lilliana she was such a sweet soul. All thanks to Nando, even after losing his mother and sister, he gathered everyone, and he kept going and rescued the rest of his people. 13 people died in this tragic incident. That must’ve been very hard for them to eat their own people to survive.

L’histoire que ce film raconte est tellement fantastique et bouleversante que rien que pour cela, il vaut d’être regardé. Voilà plusieurs fois déjà que je le visionne et à chaque fois j’en suis tout retourné. Rester 71 jours et survivre après un crash d’avion à 3600m d’altitude! DINGUE!!! Comment l’homme est capable de telles prouesses physiques et d’une telle capacité à la survie. Une histoire prenante, passionnante, une réalisation

Ethan Hawke is the only reason this movie is salvageable. The Miracle of the Andes is a crazy story, but it’s a living proof of God. Without their prayer and faith there’s no way they would’ve made it. I’m not becoming a cannibal though, I’d rather die.

This movie was very disappointing. Not only is it rather inaccurate it’s just a lazy movie. You can only tell time has passed because they blatantly say it. Without that you can’t tell at all they’ve been in the mountains for months. The things that Nando says in real life were way cooler than the stupid shit they had Ethan Hawke saying. Hawke is just so unbelievable as Nando.

The location photography is impressive, the scenery is awesome, the re-enactment of the air crash is terrifying and uses convincing special effects. We care about the characters while we watch the movie. But at the end it all seems elusive.

With respect to the remarkable reality of the story, the film presentation was too long and overdrawn. I didn’t like some of the formal elements of the film and it’s general structure and pacing, but given it is trying to bring the resilience of this event to life, I appreciate why certain decisions were made.

given this was based on a real story, and a truly frightening one at that, i found this quite boring. i might give society of the snow a watch since it supposedly tells this same story but better.

I like this film, but compared to society of the snow it feels a bit Disney film like with the overly uplifted moods and almost skipping over the actual horrors. Society of the snow feels far more emotional and accurate as it brings depth in the characters. Alive feels like a film inspired that wanted to take it’s own path and not pay respect to the horrific event.

No la recordaba tan peliculera. Quizás verla cuando hacía poco había vuelto a ver “La Sociedad de la Nieva”, potencia esa impresión. Pero eso no tiene porqué ser negativo. Hollywood es Hollywood, y ya sabemos como es el cine de Frank Marshall.

This movie was such a big deal when it came out and a true story, it keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire time and asks you to ask yourself tough questions. Great movie.

firstly, that guy was DYING to become a cannibal. like even if it wasn’t a matter of life and death he still would’ve wanted to eat those people. second, why were they constantly saying everyone’s names when speaking to them. third, what would’ve been the best part of the movie (getting out) was completely skipped over. fourth, i don’t do well with survivor movies. i would’ve just died.

Impressionante como a mesma história pode render filmes completamente opostos Essa versão americana do acidente dos andes, diferentemente de “Sociedade da Neve” de 2023, não consegue passar 10% do terror que essas pessoas viveram nesses 72 dias. Sem falar das cenas de trapalhões e personagens completamente esteriotipados. “Alive” apela para algumas cenas bem mal feitas de ação na montanha de quase morte, enquanto aborda apenas superficialmente o sofrimento e questões humanas que são esplendorosamente bem abordados de em “Sociedade da Neve” Assistam “Sociedade da Neve” de 2023

I first watched Alive when i was a kid, and rewatching it now reminded me why i loved it so much. It’s still a gripping survival drama that tells this unbelievable true story really well. After watching Society of the Snow, though i realized Alive focuses more on surviving the tragedy, while the newer film made me truly feel the people behind it.

Como persona con hiperfijación con la Tragedia de los Andes, La sociedad de la nieve le da mil vueltas. Aún así, he de decir que superó mis expectativas y que para la época está muy bien, además de que se ven detalles reales que en La sociedad de la nieve no aparecen (y escenas mucho más crudas). Por otro lado, las escenas de las avalanchas y la expedición final me parecieron SÚPER flojas. Ethan Hawk súper flojo, está ahí para servir cara. Media estrella menos por las escenas yankees que no pasaron ni de lejos, thank you!

6.5/10 Why was this chosen for 1993? I’d always heard about this one when I was younger but never got around to actually seeing it. While I did see Society of the Snow for #2023list, I had never seen Alive. I will say, while I enjoyed this one too, Society of the Snow seemed more realistic. I don’t know the real story of the plane crash in the Andes, but Alive seemed over dramatized. Of course, I could be wrong…

When I saw the cast I was like “a bunch of very white americans to play uruguayans ? what the hell”, but I mean, if the acting was good okay, bahahahahahahahaha it wasn’t good. This just feels like a parody and it’s quite painful to watch. The star is for the soundtrack and the details that were true and not in J.A. Bayona’s movie. (Movie that is a hundred times better than this please watch “La Sociedad de la Nieve” !)
