Saw this on 70mm at the Paris Theater. No action film will ever come close. I like this just as much as Alien, it just depends on the mood I’m in.

I slightly prefer Alien, but man, this is about as good as you can get following up a masterpiece on that level. It does everything you want with a sequel. I loved the decision to go full-blown action with this one, so it wasn’t just a repeat of Ridley’s vision. James Cameron just knows how to get me locked in. His style of filmmaking is so perfect for this world. Ripley is the coolest character ever. That final act might be the best shit in the franchise tbh. One of the best sequels ever. Thank you Big Jim

A packed house at The Paris Theater for the final screening of this stunning 70mm print brought in from L.A. According to the announcement made before it began, this is the only one in circulation out of the 110 prints made when it was originally released 40 years ago. On the way to see it, I found myself aggravated having bought a ticket to see a movie I’ve seen countless times, but this thing moves like a bat outta hell,…

Was lucky enough to see a 70mm print preserved from the film’s original release 40 years ago. The condition of the print was near perfect. A nice anecdote to the AI/DNR plagued 4k release. Janes Horner’s score rocked the house as did Get Away From Her You Bitch!

If you really think about it all the best sci fi movies are about the horrific consequences of capitalism exhibited at a cosmic scale. This one just has Sigourney Weaver as the badass forklift certified hero of the working class. Also love that the androids are full of milk or whatever

I always appreciated that the filmmakers shifted the tone of the second film from horror to a straight action movie. And I feel like it works so well. This was also my introduction to the Alien franchise as a kid so maybe I’m just a little nostalgic. I also think Sigourney Weaver really is just so good in these.

Looks even better, sounds even better, and hits even harder on 70mm than I could’ve imagined. I love what James Cameron did with this film, blending action and horror in such a perfect way. We obviously get 100x more Xenomorphs, but the movie is so well shot, well lit, and well edited that they and their screen presence are still terrifying. Same goes for the facehuggers, which might be even scarier. This was also my first time watching the theatrical cut, and this film truly moves no matter the cut. The little head tilt Ripley gives the Xenomorph Queen after the facehugger egg hatches… incredible.

I had so many misconceptions about this film, the franchise, and everything related to it. First and foremost, I was unfamiliar with James Cameron’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien. Secondly, I didn’t know that the Alien from Alien vs. Predator is from Ridley Scott’s original Alien. Lastly, I didn’t realize Aliens is a sequel to Alien. I walked in thinking I was watching Ridley Scott’s original. I have no qualms about revealing my ignorance. Anyway, about sixteen or seventeen years…

holy freaking jump scare. the amount of times the aliens reappeared after seeming like they were finally freaking gone was soooo irritating like just go away ughh. probably in the top 2 best movie series of its time (a long with Star Wars). I could probably watch this a million times. arguably a lot more dramatic than the first movie.

After over a decade of being a HUGE Alien fan, I have FINALLY seen the sequel! On the only surviving 70mm print from opening weekend back in ‘86 no less. It’s every bit as astonishing as it’s been made out to be. Action horror pretty much perfected. James Cameron directs this with such confidence and an understanding of what made the first so iconic AND STILL makes a movie fully his own 70mm at the Paris

Movies used to have Bill Paxton in them (RIP). That’s how you do a fuckin action/alien/space movie. So funny, all heart, unbelievable sound/effects. Could be Cameron’s best script? Was told this was the first time this movie was projected on 70MM in NY since it was originally released in theaters, special!

Special Edition For my 12th birthday I was gifted an Alien boxset collection. It included: Alien, Aliens, Alien³, Alien: Resurrection, and Prometheus. After watching that collection I remember Aliens being my absolute favourite, whenever discussing the franchise I would defend Aliens valiantly as I remember it being clearly miles above the rest. Now, I feel stupid because what was that? I’m serious, what actually was that? It legitimately took me THREE sittings to get through the first 40 minutes. I…

First time on the big screen. 👶🏻 70mm (apparently the only remaining print in circulation since the movie was released according to the introduction). Fucking rocked. I’ve become so acquainted with the extended version, that this gave me a much needed appreciation of the theatrical cut and how effective it is to keep your POV with Rip and the Marines (good band name).

Świetny sequel. Nie próbuje powtarzać jedynki a bierze koncept obcego i go rozbudowuje, zwiększając stawkę. Fajnie pogłębia to nasza bohaterkę i wprowadza…
