Action!: Grinding With Rob Zombie At the time this film was released, many critics gave it a bad review, often saying or writing that it didn’t justify its existence, and after seeing it myself, I can say I agree. My biggest problem with this film is that while these characters have always been depicted as insane and unhinged, in this film they reach an almost cartoonish level. So not only are they obnoxious, but it gets to a point where the film tries to make them this gang of anti-heroes, which isn’t consistent with their actions in this movie, let alone the previous two installment. I’ve always heard that Sherri Moon is annoying to many, and so far that has…

Once more into the breach. Lemme get this out of the way… this isn’t better than the previous two (first one is/always will be my fav) but it doesn’t need to be. Yes, it’s another excursion thru Zombie’s filth world of nutso sleaze murderers and like… sure, I get the Devils Rejects comparisons but this totally felt like it’s own thing to me—it’s own chapter in the story and it blows away shit like Hatchet 3 or whatever. I wasn’t really digging it but then the cat ballerina scene happened and everything turned woman’s prison break/home invasion/Clint Howard as a clown and I was back in… once they get to Mexico this movie turns into Red Dead Redemption and thats my…

Glad I was able to support Rob Zombie by seeing 3 from Hell on the big screen as part of the three day Fathom Event theatrical run. Even though I’ve never loved any of his scripts, he clearly puts his heart and soul in to these films, has a strong visual aesthetic and has great influences. So once again, the script is pretty one note and lacking wit, which is the issue I have with all of Zombie’s films. However, there is no denying that Zombie can make pretty images. Props to cinematographer David Daniel, art director Scott H. Campbell and set decorator Nicole Rodarte (and their teams) for lush imagery. And Zombie’s music montages are always top notch –…

3 From Hell is definitely a step down from the first 2 films and I don’t really think it was necessary to the Firefly clan story to make a third movie, but I’m also not upset about it. You basically get 115 minutes of absolutely horrible people doing absolutely horrible things and that should basically tell you whether or not you’re going to even want to watch it. Personally I dug it but I’m also not alright so.

I’ll be the first to say that this movie does not need to exist. Never needed to be made. The Firefly family should’ve died at the end of The Devil’s Rejects. Ok…maybe I’m the last to say it. 🤣 Seems to be the general consensus. I saw this movie when it first came out, now 7 years ago, and didn’t think much of it. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, just thought it was whatever. Finally revisited tonight, because I’ve fairly recently watched and reviewed the other 2 movies in the saga, so I figured why not…might as well complete the trilogy to knock it off the list. Randomly picked it tonight, and even then I was kind of like…eh,…

75 Putrid, stripped-to-the-bone rumination of America’s sweethearts – the serial killers. As Rob Zombie drifts closer and closer to total abstraction (many explosive moments become completely indecipherable and yet still function as exploitative and ravenous), he also veers towards sympathy. A movie that dares us to not simply bear witness to atrocity, but to grant these characters a laugh and a tear and maybe even investment. A fine closer to a trilogy that turned villains into myths and myths into real people.

3 from Hell arrived at least 9 years too late. What I mean is that even if this film had a reason to exist, which it doesn’t, its arrival feels too late to even leave an impression on me. You can see this in the way the film reuses plot-points and structures from the last film rather than constructing its own interesting narratives like the films preceeding it. I am not going to pretend to have been a massive fan…

Well as everyone says, this film has no point existing. It was bland and felt like the ‘best bits’ of the first 2 smashed together yet not in a good way. The Flanderization of Baby also really pissed me off, it was very briefly brought up to I geuss try too excuse it but I think it was worse for her to be written that way and acknowledged. Also I want to talk about the odd choice of racism directed…

Rezalet.

Definitely the weakest of the three, but still a blast Rob zombie did such a good job of making these absolute monsters somehow so entertaining to watch they’re horrible people but you can’t help cheering them on. Atleast a little bit, The sexual violence in these movies is very unnecessary, it takes away from the film rather than giving anything to it. ⭐ I really need to stop watching Rob Zombie movies. I didn’t even realize going in that 3 from Hell was the third movie after House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, but I’m not sure knowing that would’ve helped. Three people get shot about 21 times and somehow survive, and that’s basically the level of ridiculousness we’re working with. By the time these three are taking on an entire cartel family, I had completely checked out. The writing,…

Absolutely furious that this exists. The Devil’s Rejects was an incredible film, w a bigger, better, faster, more budget than House of 1000 Corpses, which is equally incredible in its own right. Iconic & classic horror. The Firefly’s had their ending. They died in one of my favourite ever scenes from a movie, w ‘Free Bird’ by Lynrd Skynrd playing. Then, what, 15 years later, they’re back. just mean-spirited, putrid, disgusting, slimy to the bone. a cool mashup of House’s playfulness with the Rejects’ badassery. loved the characters’ evolution through their “abuse” in jail. Sid Haig still delivers like a bad mf even in his very limited screen time, he sure is missed. the soundtrack killed. very cool stuff, “America’s Sweethearts” Rob Zombie-style, full of certifiably insane, inbred, southern backwoods serial killers, doing some wacky gory shit, in the vein of Texas Chainsaw, Hatchet, Wrong Turn, Hills Have Eyes and all those lovely exploitation slashers that we’ve all come to know and love. in fact, what’s not to love? 3.5/5 ❤️

Easily the worst of the trilogy. The whole movie just has that “why was this even made” vibe to it. It starts out with all three of them surviving 20 gunshots. But the amount of times and the ways they keep avoiding getting killed just gets to be comical. How many times are they dead to rights, just to have the “good guy” go into some drawn out monologue and somehow, someway they get freed and kill the guy. Stupid.

I knew this would be the weakest of the trilogy going in, and I can certainly agree. This movie really feels like it could’ve been more. It definitely has merit, but it’s got lots of flaws. I saw the unrated edition. It did surprise me a bit that this version is also Rated R. I figured it would be NC-17 like the last one, but apparently avoiding that rating wasn’t really a problem for Rob Zombie when making this movie.…

I can completely understand why people hate these movies, there is leverage on sexual violence in this and devils rejects, and excessive profanity can get tacky at points, but this film was brilliantly hilarious and also brilliantly horrifying whenever it needed to be. Found this a really dissapointing final installment to this trilogy. I get that they couldn’t have Captain Spaulding play a large part due to health problems and I’m glad he is still included at the beginning. This is a strange statement as these characters were never likeable and pretty vile since the first film but they feel even less likeable in this. It’s just not as fun…

This series will do it for me every time. 3 from hell is significantly different from House of 1000 Corpses & The Devils Rejects, but still so fun, gritty & everything you’d expect from Rob Zombie. Sid Haig’s absence in this movie is heartbreaking, but Richard Brake as Foxy is honestly so impactful. If you didn’t have a connection to Captain Spaulding, Foxy’s character fits like a glove into the story. I would give anything to see another film featuring the iconic Baby Firefly. At this point these guys are just immortal and the cops are dumb trying to kill them. Without Sig Haig this movie feels like nothing, it doesn’t have the same vibe as before and the story kinda lost itself, you don’t need to squeeze the plot until there’s nothing, I already know they are going to live every single time. Finally the Mexico scene gave some colour, I was tired of the Texas yellow vibe. I’m actually impressed how they…

Nach dem mir persönlich sehr gelungenen Ende von „The Devil‘s Rejects“, setzt „3 from Hell“ direkt danach an und verfolgt anfangs diese drei Figuren durch den Prozess und den Aufenthalt im Gefängnis, was mir anfangs auch gut gefallen hat. I’m just a clown dancing to the sins of mankind

we just didn’t need this. the shootout to free bird at the end of the devil’s rejects would have and should have been the perfect end for what was left of the firefly family. baby is just devolving into suicide squad (the not-as-good one) harley quinn atp, otis is still the goat tbh, and captain spaulding is dearly missed. that being said, i still had fun watching it but it doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of the trilogy. it still has rob zombie’s fun unique flavor of neon-western-horror though and i can never not enjoy that

The Devil’s Rejects benefitted from feeling directionless. Intentional or not, it felt like the titular rejects were stand-ins for the indiscrimination of death. 3 from Hell is hurt by feeling directionless in the sense that Zombie had different movies ideas and mashed them into one. It’s a messy film. It seems to want the viewer to root for the 3, which seems to misunderstand who they are. Along with that, it just has absolutely the wrong ending. Ah well, I…

The beginning half of this movie was cool I liked seeing them all get reintroduced and getting to see them after all these years. After that it’s just like you mourning the fact that Sid Haig isn’t there and that this is some last second put together script that was rewritten cause it had to be done. 😁rookie reviews we’ll see if change this😁 6.6/10

A solid effort at recapturing the raw sauce of the first two movies that sadly falls flat 3 from hell is unfortunately in most ways just an inferior rendition of devils rejects. Its enjoyable in its own way and worth watching if youre looking to round out the firefly trilogy but its glaring the weakest of the three and survivew off of its predecessors coat tails

Its unfortunate Sid Haig passed during this, you can really feel his absence here. Richard Brake is a fun addition though, he feels part of the group despite never being in the originals. I enjoyed Baby’s screentime here, she gets a lot of fun things to do. This is probably my favorite appearance of Otis too, mainly because he has a lot less time to be super pervy. Overall I enjoyed this one more than most people seemed to, but it’s definitely the weakest one. Rest in peace Sid Haig.

But I had higher hopes with 3 From Hell, as it’s the next and final chapter of the Firefly Trilogy. House Of 1000 Corpses is a feature length MTV music video horror show that started it all. 3 from Hell is an unnecessary film. That doesn’t mean it is bad because it isn’t. It just didn’t need to exist after the ending of Devil’s Rejects seemingly killed them off. I absolutely love Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects. I think it’s one of the most memorable horror films of the 2000s. It’s brutal, shocking, gritty, but it also has this incredibly dark sense of humor. The characters are both terrifying and oddly fascinating, and the whole thing feels like a throwback to the grimy grindhouse classics of the 70s, like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. But then comes the ending. The Firefly family gets gunned…

Ultimately this would have been a lot better if it was more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel. The Devil’s Rejects really was the perfect end to the Firefly saga, and this movie completely does away with that. ‘We could still do a lot of destruction in this fucked-up, crazy world.’ Has a real ‘one for the fans’ energy, starting with an appropriately unsentimental sendoff for Sid Haig before reheating some nasty Devil’s Rejects/House of 1000 Corpses leftovers, settling into an honestly-quite-beguiling hangout rhythm and culminating in a hoot of a Mexican standoff. Not much meat on the bones beyond giving these guys one last ride—save for maybe reinforcing the idea that American cultural detritus is wretchedly unkillable and/or showing off how much Rob loves Sheri—but fun enough on its own extremely insular terms.
