I can’t remember weeping for an hour straight like that. What a beautiful ending. I feel like it could stop at season 1 and remain one of the top 10 greatest miniseries/films of all time.

In 1883, a gritty historical drama takes us on a perilous journey across the American frontier, setting the stage for the legendary legacy of Yellowstone. I didn’t start watching Yellowstone until last year. I believe 1883 might even surpass it. Every cast member delivered a believable and compelling performance, with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill particularly surprising me—drawing me into the world alongside Sam Elliott. I was especially impressed by Isabel May, who played Elsa. She’s phenomenal, and I absolutely adore her rebellious nature. The supporting cast also added depth to the story. Although I didn’t appreciate how some characters came and went a bit too conveniently, the struggles they faced felt raw and intense. The series is beautifully shot,…

I’m just floored… Floored by how eloquently this story was told, how well acted it was and how utterly human and emotionally resonating it was. It was beautiful.

Thats how you make an engaging long format western that invests the audience in the wide open range of characters. As I expected Sam Elliot to be the broken Marlboro man. Mud running the weight of regret deep in his chest. Faint flickering light in his eye doing its last dance with the wind, trying to stay a flame despite the ignorance of souls in tow. And as much as good ole Sam doesn’t disappoint neither does any one else in the cast. It says a lot that Elliot doesn’t outshine everyone. But LaMonica Garrett, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw all bring a stout sense of the struggle it was to cross 2000 miles of open unforgiving lands. Where the…

“1883” my first foray into the Yellowstone universe is actually a bit of a strange one for me. On the one hand, I’m a little disappointed that I’m ultimately nowhere near the 5 star masterpiece a lot of people are. But on the other hand, I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. The pacing is a little iffy and I think it would have benefited from being 8 episodes as opposed to 10 because a couple of those middle ones do feel a tad filler-y, and I have to admit the dialogue could be a little cringey and especially melodramatic at times, the narration being the main culprit. I’m sorry but I don’t believe for a second that anyone…

i don’t know what soul searching Taylor Sheridan did when he created this show. But he found something that we don’t know about. Elsa’s monologues, and the dialogue between characters is life changing and i stand by that.

Elsa’s monologues were more compelling than Beth’s character development, while John was more active compared to James. Compared to Yellowstone, 1883 tells us a different story and provides a better understanding of the U.S. in the 1880s. Its portrayal of the worthlessness of life and the experiences of Germanic and Slavic immigrant communities was effective. The main things I felt were missing were a greater depiction of urban life in the American West and more acknowledgment of the Gold Rush.…

I think this is my fourth time rewatching this, still emotionally devastated just like the first time. I’m not into westerns, I find them tolerable. This series is top 10 fictional works ever created for me. All the characters are very well written, the cast is strong, the story is compelling. Elsa is a masterpiece. She stops being a character and becomes this entity, the embodiment of something deeply human but at the same time above human. She represents the…

ill always love you sam elliot. i enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would since i don’t really enjoy its modern counterpart much, a very beautiful series. although i can’t lie elsa’s accent was a taddd bit much at the beginning and finally mellowed out at the end.

Definitely one of my current obsessions! „I know death now. I’ve seen it. It had no fangs. It smiled at me. And it was beautiful.“ 𓂃🪶𓂃 ོ☼𓂃🏜⊹ ࣪ ˖ „The world doesn’t care if you die. It won’t listen to your screams. If you bleed on the ground, the ground will drink it. It doesn’t care that you’re cut.“

at first I found the first episodes a bit boring, but it was worth it for the ending. I don’t know what else to say, someone said this series is how they imagine dying feels, and I agree with that. I believed until the very end that Elsa is not gonna die, I couldn’t accept the fact that Sam would still wait for her to came back, the ending is just devastating. Gave me flashbacks of rdr2, so first I cried for Elsa, then I remembered Arthur Morgan and cried for him

forgot to review this but I genuinely love western type of movies or even series. I love Elsa dutton as a character and Isabel may’s performance was amazing in this. I love how there was a scene that reminded me of John Dutton’s son (Elsa’s great x2 nephew) death scene in Yellowstone that also show’s him holding his own son’s dead body at that same tree the same way James dutton did in this series. That was a really sad…

Absolutely loved this series. This series has everything- beautiful; it’s full of emotion and is incredibly powerful. The story, characters, cinematography, and performances are all outstanding. The journey feels real, and I felt I was with them. Every episode pulls you deeper into the story. The landscapes are breathtaking, and the music adds so much emotion. One of those series that stays with you even after it ends. A masterpiece!

🎞
I love elsa dutton. her monologues are so beautiful, she was able to describe her feelings towards america so astoundingly. everything came together so amazingly, I felt like I could actually feel the same thing the characters were feeling. also, I feel like most of the negative reviews are from western fans that simply don’t like to watch anything (especially not with a teenage girl as the narrator) where there aren’t just men shooting at each other.

“Our land cannot be taken. White man thinks he took it. White man is like the wolf. He kills everything until only the wolves are left. And then the wolves kill each other and then there’s nothing, and our land is free again.” Taylor Sheridan, you did your big one w this. I need a horse and a pair a chaps on my desk by tomorrow.

Maybe I went in with higher expectations and should’ve viewed it with an open mind with no knowledge of whatsoever Yellowstone was. I really was waiting for teg story to pick up. As excellent as the cast was and their acting was, really have to give it to the writers. Especially the dialogue writers. Absolutely horrendous. Unbearable. Don’t remember the last time I had to sit through a series that made me wanna run forward and get it down with.…

Old West old Sam Elliott is the sweetest pain. This is my favorite era of Yellowstone. Awesome cast (Isabel May is a heartbreaking gem) and production design, and with its single season run, it remains fresh and elegant in its writing.

4.5/5 1883 has some amazing moments but it also has some really sluggish ones. The show is stunning and the plains look great. Story wise it’s interesting enough but it did at times feel repetitive as it is just then on a journey through the plains and they facing a nee problem. Acting wise it’s sublime especially Sam Elliot who is unreal and steals every scene. Isabel May is also brilliant even if I didn’t fully care about her character coz of her choices. Overall it’s a brilliant western show that could of done being 2 episodes less.

I’m a fan of westerns and there’s a lot about this that I enjoyed but the overarching feminist dominant theme was absolutely ridiculous. Open interracial relationships are just run of the mill happenings back in 1883 apparently – including teenage white women and 30-something aged Indians – utterly unbelievable on its own but then throw in parental approval!?!? What!?!? And of course all of the villains are white guys – every last one of them. The natives can do no…

i know death now, i’ve seen it. It had no fangs, it smiled at me..And it was beautiful. It’s very good to watch, the best part is the way of recording, the frames, music and all. Narrating by else was interesting and enjoyable, but sometimes it was too much; the relationships between characters were very good written. I adore the side plot of the ant and how good her actress potrayed her; overall good series. but what bothered me was…

1883 is easily a top 3 show for me. The cinematography, acting, and story telling are all amazingly done. Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Isabel May’s performances in this show are some of the best acting I’ve seen. The recreation of a wild and untouched America in this show is one of the best portrayals I’ve watched in any western film or show. 1883 shows a raw and true reality of what pioneer families dealt with when settling northern America. One of the first shows I tell someone to watch when asked for recs!
