Look, I’m not made of stone. When Jason Statham gets into what amounts to a jousting match with a trio of Megs while riding a jet ski and brandishing explosive-tipped harpoons, I smile. When he dispatches an adversary with a shark-related pun, I chuckle. That’s what this whole movie should be! Instead, those brief moments of pleasure are buried at the bottom of an ocean of exposition, dumb plot twists, and incomprehensible underwater action scenes. Sorry chums. Full review at ScreenCrush.

Oh this one pissed me off fr fr. There is no fucking way the stunts these mfs did is possible in any way. They should have died a long time ago. I thought the kraken was gonna be a lot cooler but that shit was lame asf. Also the bad guys were so stupid and super cheesy.

Porém acho que nesse filme focaram bem mais em outras coisas, do que no megatubarao de fato. do nada os monstros pré historicos sairam pra passear, mataram geral, jumpscares bizarros (raiva desse caralho), tiraram a unica gota de romance que tinhamos. pra no fim morrer pra um pedaço de helicoptero, vai se foder, onde que o carecudo e um pedaço de metal sustentou o peso to tubarão que aterrorizou o filme inteiro. ps: crianças só são legais nos filmes quando são apenas fofas, nesse filme ela cresceu e ficou muito irritante.

I rated The Meg ⭐½… but there are movies that you just don’t get at first sight, and The Meg 2: The Trench is everything and beyond! 5⭐ well earned! Jason Statham in action movies is what Shakespeare was to theatre. His acting charisma, battling giant CGI sharks, is pure commedia dell’arte…Now waiting for the 3rd. 🥲

I enjoy my fair share of cinematic fast food but this is poison. A movie so poorly conceived and executed, its cheap thrills are incomprehensible. If this atrocity were my introduction to movies, I might think movies just aren’t for me.

I was ready to write this one off with it’s slow start and plot that deals with illegal mining in the Marianas Trench and hardly any big shark action. But the second half though totally ridiculous had the underwater thrill with not only giant sharks but octopussies squids and some nasty little amphibious animals. Last half mostly takes place on Fun Island, they might want to change the name of that one since the flotilla of creatures chow down on the silly tourists.

Even more ridiculous and over-the-top than the first, with bigger creatures and more action. It sacrifices some of the tension for spectacle, but that’s also part of the fun. Best watched for the dumb, entertaining chaos.
