No one ever said that writing “dumb” humor was easy. Case in point – the Dumb and Dumber movies. I haven’t rewatched the first one recently, so it doesn’t have a rating on my page yet, but from memory I’d give it around 4 stars (maybe 4.5). Suffice to say that I really enjoyed it. This sequel has the similar type of humor, although unlike the first, none of it lands. It just isn’t funny. In addition, I thought the story was a poor choice (Harry needing a Kidney and a daughter gets mixed in). Most of this sucks. But I did sincerely have a few decent laughs around the 50% mark. Not a ton! But enough that I don’t really regret watching it.

4/10 This movie is bad, which is extremely unfortunate because I did really enjoy the first movie. I think they made this a decade too late in my opinion. It loses a lot of the charm that first movie had, and tbh I can’t really point my finger on why. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniel’s are still a great duo, and reprise their roles expertly. But the humor at times felt off and the story honestly just wasn’t interesting. The first 20 minutes is genuinely hilarious, but after that it slowly falls off a cliff. Like I said it’s bad, but honestly couldn’t get invested in the story. It for sure gave a few giggles which is why I’m not lower.

Very funny and pretty much predicted in the space between the two movies and Farrellys slowly erosion of audience during it and as such it is both a declaration of principles and one of the smartest self-referential movies of the year. The obvious reference point is Landis’ Blues Brothers 2000, another 20 years later sequel by a comedy auteur of one his earlier beloved films that is very self-aware about its position, but Dumb and Dumber To is a good deal funnier, it is world more lived in and outside of a couple of callback gags that land flat the commentary never gets in the way of the movie. Glad to see those guys making a whole successful film, it has been a long time and American comedy was a lot poorer for it.

This was…way better then I thought it would be. As a huge fan of the original, I’ve avoided this. For 12 years now. Kind of like the whole joke in the beginning…I gave it some time to breathe. I’ve seriously seen the original at least 250 times. No joke. We used to watch the original on vhs every morning before school. Well, they decided to get the band back together after twenty-five years. Attempted to cookie cut the humor out of the first and basically couldn’t hit the side of a barn with a nuclear missile. But hey at least they can say that they tried. Before everyone got too old.

I somehow underestimated the buffoonery I was about to witness at the start. This movie is still somehow heartwarming and even though harry and Lloyd are morons, they still carry a lot of empathy. The timing and physicality of the acting is spot on as well as the jokes being told. I will admit a couple are a bit crass though.

A very chaotic and messy movie with a very weak storyline but Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels were both great like in the first movie. Unfortunately, it was a very dry movie in my opinion with areas with less comedy and developing the storyline felt dry and sluggish and I only really carried on watching to wait for the parts of comedy and even some of the jokes were dull. Disappointing as the first movie was good.

My mom thinks this and the original are the best cinema in history 😭 I really enjoyed it too!!! the kidney transplant is INSANE COINCIDENCE for her and her friends too. Jokes are pretty consistently funny and I surprisingly didn’t get bored even once.
