When it’s just the two of us, we cling to each other, unaware of what we truly seek. Well, a movie starring Winslet and Elba (and a dog) usually sets expectations for something truly captivating and showcasing remarkable acting talent, and the film delivers on that front. However, in the end, it feels like a very messy and disjointed experience to me. The movie leaps straight into survival mode without hesitation. Then it takes a breath, introducing us to the characters stranded in a majestic yet unforgiving mountain landscape, where their true selves and instincts come to the surface. Themes of collaboration, trust, and even a budding romance begin to take shape. The ingredients for something profound are all there,…

this movie right? except it’s actually only idris elba and a dog trying to survive a plane crash and he begins to imagine kate winslet because he feels so alone and desperate and she’s the last person he saw at the airport and instead of this being a long, boring romance it’s now an interesting exploration of the human mind and endurance and instead of it being almost 2hrs we cut it down to 90 mins thank you, hollywood i’ll be waiting for my paycheck in the mail

“The Mountain Between Us” is one of those movies that’s impossible to watch without imagining the elevator pitch that got the project off the ground (yes, it was adapted from a Charles Martin novel of the same name, but someone still had to sell Hollywood on the idea). “It’s ‘The Grey’ meets ‘The English Patient’!” “It’s ‘Alive’ meets ‘Before Sunrise’!” “It’s ‘Cast Away,’ but if Tom Hanks was a little horny for Wilson!” Amusingly billed as a “romance-disaster” on the film’s Wikipedia page, Hany Abu-Assad’s dreary but diverting high-altitude epic is a “will they or won’t they?” flirtation superimposed onto a classic story of survival. It’s fantastically unrealistic stuff from the first minute to the last (and there are far…

Why would two British people, with no Americans there to hear them, use the word ´cookies´ instead of ´biscuits´?

This was fun to watch because of how much we mocked it. Also the dog did NOT get his due – is it so hard to say thank you?!?

I think you’re wrong Alex, I think we survived because we fell in love Some of these shots are so beautiful combined with the score I just really love it 🙁 + the ending will make me uncontrollably sob. It can feel slow and boring at times but I think there’s so much more positive to be said about this film rather than negative.

Eu simplesmente não vi o tempo passar. Fiquei intrigado o filme inteiro. Fora isso me diverti e me emocionei muito!!!

This started auto-playing after 127 hours and I couldn’t look away… kept thinking how they got these two leads with this schlock script. The last shot jumpcut straight to the zayn credit song had me rolling.

Ganz nett. Immer wieder überraschend, was Menschen im Film überleben.

It wasn’t bad. I didn’t think that the shagging scene was strictly necessary, but they did need a reason for her to split with her fiancé and for him to swoop in from London. Kate’s character used a Leica M camera. There must have been two as the first must have been an M9 with a long lens. They tried to use it to zoom in on distant mountains. You can’t do that with a rangefinder. Then she took photos of him with an MP that must have been film as she developed it in a dark room later.
