Gillian Anderson exudes so much Big Dick Energy in this she could take down an army of men.

kate mckinnon said yes i will be playing a lesbian no matter how many lines you want to give my character alluding to her heterosexuality… i love her!

Kate McKinnon playing a heterosexual character in the vicinity of Gillian Anderson is a hate crime.

K
there’s a scene in this movie where mila kunis is backstage having an extreneous conversation while kate mckinnon is literally fist fighting an assasin on a trapeze and that’s perfect metaphor for her doing all the heavy lifting in every horribly scripted comedy she’s in

Good comedy, good action, good friendships. It really picks up after its first act to become something thoroughly entertaining. My friend and I were thriving.

” you know, I was going to drive home. but now I think I just might drive into a wall. ” mila kunis and kate mckinnon in a comedy together; i can’t complain whatsoever. this is a good rewatch and a great movie, idc if the reviews are low, this was my shit when i was 10.

Very relatable reaction to Gillian Anderson. Why didn’t they destroy the drive as soon as they knew what was on it?

I was supposed to pack for my trip but this came on tv so here we are 1. SO MANY PLOT HOLES but thats okay because, 2. Gillian Anderson playing a spy boss? In a suit?????? Also, Kate McKinnon in a suit? Also, Kate McKinnon doing gymnastics? Also, Kate McKinnon killing bad guys??? Also, Kate McKinnon? Yeah.

Ciekawe czy Mila Kunis zagra kiedyś w dobrym filmie bo komedia szpiegowska z kiepską intrygą, przewidywalnymi 30 minut wcześniej zwrotami akcji i bez humoru to już trzeba mieć tragicznego agenta
-
M
It’s hard to laugh in the comedy scenes when they are followed by scenes like the one where a thumb is being severed with a pocket knife. Kate McKinnon was, like character said to her character, a bit much. She’s okay in small doses, but a whole movie of her is painfully annoying. The action in the film is pretty good at times and rather bland at other times.
-
M
It may not be perfectly written but its comforting and funny in its own way

Gillian Anderson letterboxd project: #8 Yeah this is my other August project, for the build up of ‘Camp Miasma’ I’ll be diving into Gillian’s feature length career. ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’ is serviceable film in terms of entertainment value but really? I enjoy seeing McKinnon but Kunis just is so dull imo despite her having moments. You know Gillian steals the show here, every scene she’s in she’s stellar in every scene and puts in that bitchy sass into…

I don’t know about you guys but I had a silly fun time watching my wife Kate McKinnon play Morgan Freeman! Add this to my list of movies that I know are maybe not good but I thoroughly enjoy and therefore do not know how to rate. Can I let myself have bad taste in peace?

Pretty fun, if overlong. Playing the spy stuff relatively straight and letting the humor come from two messy friends dropped into an espionage thriller is the right call. Some good practical action sequences, and McKinnon and Kunis are charming. This could have been a real slog with less likable leads.

yk if mia kit kutnis is in a movie it’s a movie u watch once take a moment to think ab time and how we waste it on a daily basis voluntarily. why do they always make the women stupid ugh

E
this was god awful!! there was no point to this movie, it had nothing special or original to offer to the action genre felt like there was no plot, the big threat wasn’t that serious or dramatic and there were a lot of bad storytelling & editing decisions there is no reason to watch this, there is no reason for it to have even been made! and now i’m losing my mind reading all these old reviews of so many people actually liking it?!?! wtf is going on!

so so stupid. so good. i love watching this movie with other people every time it’s so perfect. went into this thinking i actually remembered the plot this time but NO i STILL forgot so many things. fifth time’s the charm? maybe? cannot believe SOMEBODY tagged this “hard watch”, putting it in the same category as some serious abominations, when we were literally laughing our asses off… i need to teach her how to tune out men, they’re puppets on…

Even with it making back its budget, it’s a shame that the success of The Spy Who Dumped Me didn’t lead to a franchise. There have been worse movies that spawned sequels and franchises (probably Divergent at the top of mind), but the action/comedy blend is actually better than I thought it would be and what the Letterboxd average would indicate. The storyline with a thumb drive pulls Audrey (Mila Kunis) and her friend Morgan Freeman (Kate McKinnon) into a…

It wasn’t bad, quite funny in places. Not as good as Spy. Surprised to see: Gillian Anderson, Jane Curtin and James Fleet. The name Albright was mentioned as one point, that can’t have been a coincidence.
