A
On its surface a dumb, haphazard, poorly conceived, outright limp action film in the vein of “badass” president films like Air Force One. Some terrible performances and casting to be sure. But it quickly proves itself to have the most evil ass energy of a film I’ve seen in recent memory. The most galling example of Hollywood laundering the image of the American empire through a facsimile black cool — this time infused with braindead faux-feminist bullshit in which Viola Davis’ president rebuffs wearing heels and marvels at how she’s on Air Force One when a hundred years ago someone like her didn’t even have voting rights. Dangerous fuckshit. Some of the worst “jokes” I’ve had to endure (that Wakanda one…oh lord). At this point framing America as the good guy on the world stage is laughable and insulting given the horrors this country has engendered.

White House Down (The Crypto Bro Version) This film felt like propaganda. The villain? Honestly, flawed as he was, he was making some solid points. Our world leaders are out here abusing power, starting wars, and playing games with people’s lives. But we’re supposed to root against him just because he’s chasing Viola Davis? (Which, to be fair, is a bold move. But still.) Also, why were they so damn loud sneaking around that house? I was stressed out watching them make every loud noise known to man while trying to stay hidden from armed thugs. Axé Kamala É um filme de ação divertido e bobo planejado para uma realidade alternativa que a Kamala Harris tenha ganhando a eleição e isso serviria de propaganda. É quase engraçado ver o quão óbvio isso fica durante o filme, principalmente na fala da hora do embate entre a Viola e uma “Hillary Clinton” que tem lá. Oh negah, juraram muito mds kkkkkk. MÃS, é muito divertido. Um filme pra assistir no domingo na hora do almoço.

I have very very conflicted feelings about this film Anthony Starr as the villain? A big yes The villain being an Aussie? If it comes across as Anti-US, specifically anti Trump, big yes Viola Davis as the hero? Big. Big yes!!!! The Amazon of it all? Hell no (bitcoin chasing villains, AI deepfakes as the tool of the villains, also are we 100% certain AI didn’t help write the film, considering the Die Hard, Olympus has Fallen of it all?) 12/100 Another centrist but right wing leaning Amazon Prime movie about another president who knows nothing about politics but is liked by the media with a twist villain of the vice president (again) being a bad guy for not liking how the president shouldn’t have the job. It’s pretty much “Heads of State’ but without the Prime Minister and somehow less entertaining. Amazon Prime genuinely makes me believe that Netflix can make good films when I compare the two.
