Look I’ve loved films that Justin Long and Drew Barrymore have done. Especially romcoms but both of them in a movie. I don’t know I couldn’t see them together. Maybe it’s cause the story felt too fast paced, think I prefer a slow build up sorta love story 🤷🏻♀️ Had some funny moments tho. Charlie Day and Christina Applegate were great in this!

Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are great comedic relief supporting characters. Justin Long is such a dweeb. I know this was a creative decision but I found it hard to root for someone frankly so pitiful. And the whole conflict – the whole plot – of the movie is shown to be irrelevant by the ending, because bro was spending the whole time trying to get his girlfriend to move upstate to him when he could’ve just quit the job he literally hated, and moved to her in the first place. Idk man just a whole bunch of nothing

“Going The Distance” was a surprising little cracker that felt like it was going to be a throwaway watch but was actually kinda great? It’s properly genuinely funny throughout much of it’s runtime and has a pretty fucking stacked cast including our leads Justin Long and Drew Barrymore and a great supporting cast including Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Christina Applegate. As with all rom coms it follows guessable story beats but the funny moments and the sweet relationship between the two leads actually kinda sells it. A real pleasant surprise.

Fan des comédies romantiques, j’ai trouvé celle-ci accrocheuse grâce à un élément essentiel, elle est originale! Le sujet est traité avec simplicité et espièglerie et les acteurs sont vraiment à l’aise. Drew Barrymore toujours aussi craquante avec son naturel incroyable et l’acteur masculin n’est pas en reste. Je suis très agréablement surpris par cette comédie et vous la conseille si vous êtes fan du genre

Plot is mediocre, borderline not making logical sense at times. Every character and side character is a guy doing their best to be that guy – made by the subplots and writing. So many bridges cutting to other bridges. You can only be long distance if you can be represented by an iconic bridge. That’s the rule.

There’s nothing structurally wrong with this film just that it’s quite middling, uneventful and boring. The dialogue just seems to be strewn together to match characters who are very simple in nature. 1 star! Trop loin pour toi est une rom-com comme on n’en voit plus trop. Scénario, humour, rebondissements, personnages, équilibre rom/com, tous prévisibles, très ordinaires mais avant tout, très efficaces. Une rom-com à la croisée des décennies 2000 et 2010, âge d’or du genre probablement. On apprécie de regarder un film un peu gnian-gnian mais pas trop, un peu bizounours et qui ne se termine pas en tragédie – la dernière mode. Et parce que les relations longues distances ne sont pas forcément vouées à l’échec et sont peut-être même à l’orifine des plus belles histoires.
