Okay so I rented this on demand and was like okay good movie but pretty shitty ending so then I was looking at the Wikipedia page and saw that this was the third alternate ending??? Why would you put an alternate ending on this copy of the movie??? With no choice to view the theatrical ending??? And literally every ending I read except the one I saw seems great I’m really confused. Also Samuel jacksons character was way too cool to be so minor

pese a pertenecer al clásico y estereotipado grupo de películas de terror en las que ocurren cosas paranormales en un hotel/casa, consigue romper el molde y resultar singular (dentro de lo que se puede esperar) y bastante entretenida, consiguiendo que en ningún momento se haga pesada de ver. tiene un aire a el resplandor, guardando las distancias, claro. no la recomendaría si estás en búsqueda de la panacea cinematográfica, pero sí para ver de forma puntual algún día que te apetezca una película de este estilo. 6,5/10

Cool movie, I thought some of the scares were done well during the moments when he first entered the room but after that I think it relied a bit too much on jumpscares and loud noises. I really liked the segments where mike interacts with parts of his past and his daughter and the acting was pretty good during those parts, but I wish we would’ve gotten more of that instead of stuff like the dead guy in the vents or the ghosts. Also the extra endings were a really cool part of the movie.

Depiction of a bad trip. It’s not really what it seems at first. Not what you normally expect from the “haunted hotel”. Sure it got classics, playing with the sceptical protagonist just as playing with us. I would most likely die of a heart attack if I would be in this room, representing my personal hell.

Effective horror, I love seeing how the room fucks with this guy, and by the end I really wanna see him get out. I like that the room uses his past against him, that’s neat but the setup for both instances is a bit forced. Don’t care for the intro stuff in general but once we get into the room it becomes a great film. I even liked the ending and I was seriously expecting not to. “I’m still staying.” “Damnit to Hell!”

I enjoy these types of psychological horror films, being just the kind of movie that pushes me to the edge of my seat. Where the protagonist is staying in a claustrophobic, near impossible to escape hotel room, living through hell with the paranormal f’in with him. It’s just like Hokum. 1408 & Hokum are two movies with strong similarities involving pretentious writers who have never reflected on their lives but faced with reality when the supernatural steps in. Would’ve been a hell of a horror novel.

I see no reason not to give this movie five stars. It’s a brilliant film. Very visually accomplished, fast-paced, satisfying, and uses a clever approach to such a simple concept. I’d even say this movie is far better that really should be.
