More King than Kubrick, yet slavishly reverent to the 1980 classic. Honestly I was kind of bored, it has its moments but I cannot recommend anyone rushing out to see this in theatres. Overly long, much more of a thriller than a horror movie, can’t say I was ever frightened. More of a superhero/vampire movie than anything else believe it or not. Rent this.

Very much 2010 to THE SHINING’s 2001, a very sturdy straight-up genre sequel made by a solid, unpretentious craftsman, just about the best available version of a film nobody needed and that couldn’t possibly live up to its legacy. Does a good job of reckoning with King’s cornball voice and his sillier tendencies, mostly because Flanagan’s formal echoes are for the most part purposeful and effective, only rarely dipping into nostalgic callbacks. I’ll forgive it for not sticking the emotional landing. Rebecca Ferguson as Demon Vagabond Stevie Nicks is a hell of a mood.

I found this to be a good fun watch, it was scary but not too scary which is great because I like to be able to sleep well after a movie. I think once they got to the hotel it became a little ‘the shining’ part 2 electric boogaloo recap remix but I forgive them because the shining is iconic and I think the movie still rounds off well enough to forgive the nostalgia bait.

Entertaining, tense sequel. But I think without the addition of Danny and the Overlook (and some really atmospheric moments), this would just be an 08/15 horror. And of course, do not make the mistake comparing this to The Shining, because it´s two completely different worlds and classes of filmmaking, even though Mike Flanagan shows his potential here.

3 horas de pelicula (director’s cut) es un banda. mas cuando la primera hora es goofy ass, pero la verdad que después se pone muy buena, terminé sintiendo mas adrenalina que con peliculas de John Wick. me quedé con ganas de más batalla pero todo lo fantasioso me gustó mucho, los efectos dejan que desear en algunas escenas pero bueno. buena sucesora para ser tan moderna.

i think on its worst day The Shining would be King’s second best novel. i concur with about everyone else who loves it that this is just an ok story and not at all a good successor for the shining. im not really sure what inspired king to even continue the story of danny torrance (google gave me an answer i didnt like). in addition to faults, this really just becomes The Shining: The Force Awakens once we reach the…
