Il film per eccellenza. Essendo sceneggiato su fatti realmente accaduti, e che tutti conosciamo molto bene, non mi sento di dilungarmi nell’esprimermi. Bellissimo, l’ho avrò guardato, come tutti spero, almeno 20 volte. Vivi a pieno la vita in quegli anni, percepisci il clima, e purtroppo, la crudeltà umana. Finale impeccabile.Piango ogni volta. Idk i just dont think you should be doing bits at holocaust. This upset me to my core in a weird way. I would be interested in talking with someone who likes this but man i dont know. It doesn’t feel like a manifesto of how there is beauty to be found in any situation. It instead feels more malicious. It feels like a downplaying of the worst thing humanity ever did. I think you can make art out of anything but you gotta make a zone of interest. Like thats the bar.

This is a fantastic film. I’m very critical of the narrative of what went on at these places in the 1940s. The fact this movie was able to burst through that and still make me sympathetic knowing what really happened is impressive. It would be hard for a kid to deal with stuff like this. The dad was a jestermaxxer but he did his role well.

i loved this film as a kid but rewatching it… there is so much wrong. I have to say the level of historical inaccuracy with one of the gravest events in human history is almost distasteful. I do provide some merit to it in that the director was inspired by his own father’s retelling of his time in a forced labour camp with humour. this film has its heart in the right place. but it doesn’t change that many parents…

A beautiful story of poverty, pride, desperation and what happens when people are pushed too far.
