I’ve seen a lot of movies and I’ve never seen anything like the last fight in this thing. How the fuck do you even do that?????

Deliriously fun. If not a new fight classic, contains at least three sequences that go in the pantheon. Whole theater was howling on a Friday afternoon.

I must say upfront that the overall intensity of this has been a bit overstated. It only really explodes in the final third. But that hardly matters when the craft on display is this good. Truly astonishing fight choreo abounds throughout, some of the most ambitious and elaborate I’ve ever encountered. Truly next-level stuff.

There have been any number of movies about kidnappers who choose the wrong girl to abduct (e.g. “Man on Fire,” “The Searchers,” “Saving Silverman”), but none of the kidnappers in any of those movies have ever chosen wronger than the child traffickers in Kenji Tanigaki’s “The Furious,” who snatch a tradesman’s daughter off the streets and then pay for their insolence by getting their shit absolutely rocked off the bone for the rest of an action film so brutal that it makes “The Raid” feel like “Paddington” by comparison. (OK, that might be overstating the case a little, but it was fun to type out.) Which isn’t to say Tanigaki’s braindead symphony of blood and skull-bashings is necessarily gorier than…

You know exactly what kind of movie you’re watching when bro gets absolutely clocked by a truck in the first set piece, walks it off, sticks his limbs in some ice water, and is ready to go harder than ever in the next scene.

last fight’s choreo may be the best I’ve ever seen that was unreal also consistently excellent at making sure every important character has a very distinguishable style of fighting, really impressive details but also a lot of obvious producer interference at points and weirdly paced in the middle

This is my first foray into this sort of Asian martial-arts film. It makes me want to see more of them. The super long takes of non-stop fighting are incredible. Exquisitely choreographed, perfectly executed, it’s like a ballet of destruction. I won’t say with certainty that that is the correct way to deal with human traffickers. But I won’t say they didn’t deserve it. And I also won’t say it wasn’t deeply satisfying to watch.

Love a bone breaking, blood spurting, batshit good time. I have some criticism around the dubbing decision but the gore to goofiness ratio is pretty outstanding and I can live. Sad to see that even when he wins, Joe Taslim still can’t get out of a fight with Yayan alive.

A really impressive action film. Some really fun sequences. A fun watch, but not really my cup of tea, but I did appreciate it and would throw it on again with the parents or something. It’s like watching Godzilla vs Kong. Just a spectacle

Insane action and some of the best martial arts fight sequences ever put on film. Heart pounding action that doesn’t let ip and gives classics like “The Raid” a run for the money.

great fight choreography, but the story was a bit cliche.
