Copycat is a gripping thriller to simply watch and enjoy. It might not be as polished as some other films or as groundbreaking as Silence of the Lambs or as shocking as Seven, but it holds its own. The film is driven by two powerhouse performances in Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver, who help lead us from a “who done it” to a tense game of “cat and mouse”. The onscreen chemistry of MJ (played by Hunter) and Rueben (played by Dermot Mulroney) is highly watchable. The score compliments the scenes well and I feel it is underrated…like the film itself.

Summer of 95’ I haven’t seen a good serial killer thriller in a bit. What elevates this is Weaver being the lead, in a similar role as the Bone Collector starting Denzel Washington. It had some good thrills, but not enough twists or turns to elevate it to being one of the best in the genre. At points it was pretty predictable. At times I laughed out loud over the goofiness of some parts. Which is not what they were probably going for.

I watched this expecting one of those numerous ’90s thrillers in the vein of The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en. But this was surprisingly good. It was engaging and had great performances, especially from Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver. I disliked the third act a bit because of how predictable and straightforward it was. Otherwise, one of the better ’90s thrillers.

Sem rodeios e com uma abordagem bem convencional para o gênero, o filme entrega exatamente o prometido e segura a atenção do início ao fim. As interpretações são convincentes, o enredo funciona de forma redonda e a conclusão fecha a obra de maneira satisfatória.
