further proof that fanboys are the absolute worst and catering to them is a surefire way to make the worst film in your franchise. first film wasn’t faithful to your stupid video game? well here’s a dlc ending with all the broad caricatures, references & action filmmaking you wanted in lieu of anything remotely interesting formally. and as if it wasn’t embarrassing enough already, this came out just a few months after zack snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake, which succeeded in filling far bigger shoes. poor milla, she’s far too good for this.

To whoever had the idea for that mutant robot zombie🦾🧟♂️, what were you high on and where can I get some?🤯💊 It was Gloriously stupid.🤣 This movie was actually lots of fun. Alice & Jill are the ultimate power couple👭 and the new location was a welcome change up🌃. I don’t get the hate🤷♀️. It’s hot girls killing zombies🥵. That’s a perfect premise.👌

So as far as I can tell, I’m guessing it’s required for Milla Jovovich to appear naked in a towel at the end of every single one of these movies?

33/100 Ironically enough, Resident Evil: Apocalypse was the only Resident Evil installment that I had seen prior to this speed-run through the series, and although I remember being not too fond of it, I wasn’t prepared for such a disastrous step down from W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil. It’s such an obvious response to the bitchy fan reactions of the original film, and with W.S. Anderson out of the director’s chair, Alexander Witt (a mostly second-unit director) steps in and derails much of the momentum of the franchise opener. In spite of that, Mila Jovovich still kicks ass (she rides a motorcycle through a stained glass Church window!) and the action is messy but engaging enough when it doesn’t feel the need to fuck up its own logic. Best part? There’s this weird grown up version of the “baby Xenomorph” and it walks around with a chain gun.

Sienna Guillory looks more like a video game character than any human I’ve ever seen. I truly admire her decision to model her performance on the aesthetic of late-90s cutscene acting as well. The plot of this is the inverse of the first film: instead of a group of confined people slowly reduced in number by the zombie menace until only a final girl survives, a smattering of individuals are slowly brought together until (most) of them escape the zombie menace, leaving the final girl behind. Shame about the action, cut and blurred to hell by director Alexander Witt, who learned all the wrong lessons doing second unit work for the Scott brothers. This should be one of the better films in the series, who doesn’t want Milla Jovovich’s Snake Plissken?

Kemunculan nemesis kayak nya langkah kurang bagus dan walaupun disini dibuat nya karakternya lemah banget seharusnya OP seperti di game dan mulai kerasa melenceng dari versi asli nya alias game nya itu sendiri

Getting into a car crash because you’re rubbernecking is one thing. Getting into a car crash because you’re rubbernecking at zombie strippers is next level horny behavior. Crazy stuff. Was there some law in 2004 that you could only purchase and fire guns in pairs? What an era.

-

Hand to hand combat is atrociously directed, but it’s all made up for in the scene where Alice has to put her hands up at gunpoint to put down her gun- she drops the gun, the soldiers stop aiming at her, but in that split second she jumps for her midair dropped gun and kills the soldiers. Umbrella continues to get more and more 2026 level Billionaire so that annoying prescience combined with lunatic mid 2000’s blockbuster “throw everything at…

Much much worse than the original. You can’t do the dog gag a second time in a row. Cmonnnnn man. Script worse. Action better. Frenetic, minimal plot. Little to no cohesive story. Awesome spin kicks.

as someone who’s played the games, I enjoyed the first movie as it offered a different perspective on the raccoon city outbreak, despite the live action films being non canon. for this one though? it just recycled the setting of re2 and 3 but made way worse. why bring fan favorite characters like jill and carlos if it’s just to sideline and butcher their character for the overpowered protag? why even make a movie if you’re not gonna respect the source material at all?????

If the DVD menu wasn’t based off the intro of this movie, then what were we doing. I guess this is the closest this series gets to the games? Kinda cool to see Nemesis? Kinda just a high budget Sci-Fi channel movie?

Just such a forever fave this. Best in the series after Retribution moves at a clip doesn’t waste anytime.Spin kicks for days,Nemesis is some poor actor stuffed into unwieldy rubber top shelf. It’s a little choppy pace wise at times but you’re never more than five minutes away from the next roadhouse or zombie dog being clobbered with a frying pan so that makes up for it. The action is much weighty than I remember it being yes it’s all…

I don’t know if I have ever seen a movie that was so at odds with it’s predecessor, while somehow remaining the perfect spiritual successor. This movie seems to be in a constant fight with the first movie. At any given moment in the film, there is a good chance that there will be a line of dialog, a visual, some kind of exposition that lets you know that something from the first movie no longer applies. Fuck you first…
-
K
This is my most unpopular opinion about this franchise, but Apocalypse is maybe the best one. It fulfills all the promises from the cliffhanger ending of the first entry. Milla Jovovich is somehow even more of a badass in this one. It definitely amps up the action and sci-fi, but doesn’t fully lose the horror elements. It’s definitely more faithful to the video games than the previous film (Jill Valentine included!). I love that the first film does all the…

It’s much much dumber and nothing really means anything, but it’s a blast. Jovovich continues to whip ass, Guillory is a lot of fun, and the supporting boys in Fehr/Epps/Harris are all great.

This movie tricks you. Because it’s better than the original but it’s also worse. Like now, they have the budget for helicopters and Jared Harris. But at the same time, it’s a series of action set pieces artlessly slammed together with absolutely no transitions to help you understand how the characters arrived in that moment or what their objectives are.

The camera work in this is so off-putting that it removes any of the actual good stuff in this one like the fun action and set pieces and Mike Epps. Paul WS Anderson still wrote this so it sucks but he didn’t direct it so it’s better than the first one but only barely such an awful ending tho

Once again, if you want an action film where you don’t have to think about anything and simply just enjoy watching blowing shit up, this is a good movie for you to watch. If you do decide to use your brain when watching this, you will quickly realize how much Paul W.S. Anderson’s writing has somehow gotten even worse since the last movie. I mean, everything goes by so fast, there’s barely any time to comprehend anything that’s going on.…

Wth it’s so entertaining. Yes, again, the cheesyness is there but if you look at it through the eyes of a 2000s resident, I can see the epicness of it all. And the way they introduce the next movie at the end – it’s like a good show. The logical flaws of the battles are annoying, but it’s still a thing even in the newest action movies to “keep tension”. Thus 4/5.

T
“I remember everything.” Jovovich is so entertaining but the rest doesn’t quite live up. I have not played these games (will one day) so I didn’t care for the bundle of vague references and half explaining. There’s also an aesthetic downgrade from the first one, with this feeling more broad and having little creativity in its action. Despite all that it’s still watchable. What I find interesting is its lack of moodiness. It’s a little stale. Nothing evoking tone aside…

The first movie did well. I know because things go BOOM a lot more often in this one. I appreciate it tried to build the world but it was a little all over the place. Soap opera melodrama parading as gritty, intense action. Little to no characterization or direction given.

This is definitely better than 1. Yeah, this is the sexy people one. Give it up for sexy people. That includes you Jared Harris, those absolutely insane opticals are really doing it for you. My first ride through the resident evil movies and I have to say. They are definitely going to spiral out of control creatively aren’t they? I wonder which one contains the time travel and when does Alice face Mecha-Alice. FIND OUT NEXT ON RESIDENT EVIL AFTERLIFE I THINK. WHY DIDN’T THEY NUMBER THESE?

i have a myriad of questions regarding what i just watched including but not limited to and in no particular order: who is alice? why did the gun store have cunty spaghetti strap and fishnet tops? why did she crash thru a church window on a bike? where did the bike come from? why are there so many stars members alive? why is nemesis like a robot? why is he so fucking tiny? where is his trash bag fit? no…

I DO NOT REMEMBER MIKE EPPS BEING IN THIS MOVIE. And overall better than what i remember. These films have some of the best intros.

J
Idk, I had fun!! Ridiculous but hey, Alice is a badass and I two jump scares kinda got me. I love this franchise!! Josh score: 4
-
M
Still has a lot of issues that were in the first movie, and manages to create even more. There’s so many cuts and ridiculous flashy 2000s effects that happen during the fights, and the bland zombies make this feel like a generic action movie overall. Jill was awesome (and pretty), but she should’ve gotten a better story alongside Alice’s character.
-
L
Fun if you like to identify Toronto landmarks which the filmmakers haven’t really tried to disguise.

The post-Matrix era movies of the early 2000’s are so terrible and awesome. It’s so specific in a trashily beautiful way. Mike Epps crashing his car because he’s distracted by a naked zombie stripper movie bumps this a half star. Milla Jovavich rocks, she’s such an underrated movie star.

“You missed one.” Hype moments and Jill Valentine aura. Resident Evil: Apocalypse is definitely a movie. Now, is it more exciting than the first movie? Absolutely. Does that mean it’s a good movie? Fuck no. If anything, this movie is from a front-facing standpoint, maybe just a teeny tiny bit better than the first one, with roughly the same amount of good things that were in the first. For example, you get big man Nemesis in live action with his…

63/100 “GTA, motherfucker! Yeah! Ten points!” • Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed this sequel more than the first movie. The first movie tried to lean more into the horror aspect, but ended up feeling just boring for me. Too much talking, not enough zombies. While this movie goes in the complete opposite direction & goes for an action-zombie movie with a hint of horror. It did a slightly better job than the first movie of incorporating more of the actual video game…

Kind of an impressive achievement: Guillroy manages to pull the greatest video game look in movies. And conceptually this film is also pretty good. That is it. No visual idiosyncrasies like in the first PWSA one. Mostly generic action beats, unless they are performed by Milla. A lot of cheap camp, but even by those standards it is still lame.
-
T
Way more fun than the first film. These films are at their best when they embrace stupidity. Love the performance for Jill and Alice’s iconic outfit with her weird jean leg warmer on one leg (seriously, how is it not attached in any way…). On third watch, the endings of these movies are just part of the charm, but I still question why the movie is basically 1 hr, and then there’s a whole Alice fake-out death just for her to be rescued?? And then barely anything is brought over into the next film.

Well this saga went downhill fast. I would immensely preferred if they didn’t take every victory of the OG characters and apply them to Alice. The casting for Jill is great and she almost does cool stuff, but every moment that could or should belong to Jill is given to Alice; she steals moves of characters who aren’t even in the films yet! It’s almost like the source material is being used just to prop up this singular character, and…

I know how lame it is whenever people leave a movie talking about how hot an actress is, but Sienna Guillory in Jill’s RE3 outfit is all I could think about the entire runtime. Also the scene where Mike Epps says “GTA…10 points” while hitting a zombie with his car is gold. Only topped by the subsequent scene where he crashes his car because he got distracted by two nude zombie hookers.
-
A
Both better and worse than the first. The amount of dumb lines and shit that happens is staggering. This is the middle for of an ellipsis, not a story. Jared Harris tho. They gave him the worst glasses in the world and he gets to become a zombie. Shout out to the tv edit where Mike Epps says “this motivator’s got a rocket launcher!” Let’s just say he does NOT say motivator in the theatrical cut!!!
-
B
Is it crazy for me to like this a little more than the first one? I feel like with these movies, the junkier the better. As long as there’s always stuff happening. I hope they find a way to bring Nemesis back from the dead in later sequels. He’s great.
-
B

“You motherfuckers is crazy! Look. That big motherfucker got a rocket launcher!” I don’t care how much hate this one gets, I fucking loved this movie. Is it terribly made? Yeah absolutely. But something about this just scratches a very specific part of my brain, and I can’t explain it. Nemesis’ design is insane. So menacing, grotesque, and simultaneously cool as hell. Top tier zombie villain, easily my favorite part about this. Sienna Guillory is now a new favorite. She…

I’m not gonna lie this has some fun camp like when the giant zombie creature shoots a bazooka or milla jovovich riding a motorcycle through a church window before using it as a bomb. But overall it misses the ridiculous stylization of paul ws anderson and is kind of boring a times and feels longer than it is. I really don’t hate it but it’s just kind of a nothing movie.
-
M
Talk about quality whiplash lol. The last movie from the random movie picker at today’s party and boy howdy is it…something. I suppose I got my wish for a non-90s film but what a monkey’s paw curl it is. Still, I do love Nemesis.

Need me a Jill Valentine frfr 🖤 I loved seeing another dog sequence cuz I think it’s nice they give those zombie pooches some work. I knew dude (Oded Fehr) was from the Mummy but didn’t remember til late which character (handsome Medjai guy). But yeah I’m not sure if this is better or not as good as the first but I still had fun watching it so I guess that’s all that counts. Mike Epps had some funny moments too. I didn’t mind this at all.

A lot more to enjoy this time around. Camerawork stays eating, and some of the characters even change by the end. Holy shit the editing though 🤮

I think I enjoy this one more than the first purely because it does feel a bit more accurate to the games as it draws a lot of inspiration from Resident Evil 2 but I hate the choppy action and now we have SUPER CLAIRE we have to put up with for 4 more movies but the nemesis design and practical effects are perfect.

it has so many of the same elements as a Paul W.S. This was working far better when we went trying to take so much from the games. That’s not Jill, thats not Carlos, and what the hell is up with nemesis??? The action is still good but horror has gone out the window here and the plot is just nonsense. When am I supposed to start caring about Alice? It gets a bonus star because Jill needs all the expose she can get please remember she exists Capcom.

The Road To Resident Evil(2026) continues with Resident Evil: Apocalypse(2004) To me, the first and second act felt like an okay to decent zombie movie, but that third act, that’s where the real fun begins. While some parts were definitely outrageous, I did like the tone shift compared to the previous installment. I liked the wacky and corny dialogue and action sequences, especially if it involved Jill Valentine. Alice being a badass here is both awesome and nonsensical, I do not care what the T Virus does to your body, there should be no excuse as to why you’re a gun expert all of the sudden.

O destaque continua sendo a Alice e pra mim é o que incomoda um pouco aqui, eles adicionaram personagens importantes dos jogos neste filme pra serem coadjuvantes. De resto é um bom filme de ação e terror.
