That rat in the final shot? Yeah, he’s the one who brings Ant-Man back from the quantum realm. But you didn’t care about him until then, did you? You couldn’t have cared less until he landed a role in a big blockbuster, and then all of a sudden, you’re talking like you’ve been following his career since the start. You’re just like everybody else. Pathetic.

What a movie. It’s 4 AM and I’m still thinking about it. What a cat-and-mouse chase. Thank god [redacted] was shot at the end because I was pissed. Also… whose baby is it? 👀 And that rat in the final shot, wow! I’m sure there are so many underlying themes I completely missed. Reddit here I come, feed me

Scorsese at his best. The constant tension, the double lives and this feeling that everything could fall apart at any second just works insanely well. Leo, Matti and especially Jackie are all great, I just love this kind of movies too much.

Certainly not flawless. It’s overly complicated at times with a couple random borderline plot holes and some oddly bad cinematography. The scene of Jack Nicholson and Ray Winston at the beach straight up looks like it’s out of a YouTube B-Movie. But I’d be lying if I said, I didn’t love every second of this movie. In my eyes it’s perfect 🤷🏻♂️

8/10 Leonardo Dicaprio was outstanding. (Matt Damon was there) I really really enjoyed this film. I can’t quite place what it was. I just found it really really good. -> Jack Nicholson was great unsurprisingly.

This was SO good, what a cast. Lowkey gave Godfather x Bronx tales but Boston version. This had me on my damn TOES, Leo had me genuinely stressing. Loved the good guy gone bad vs bad guy gone good – double homicide 🐀🐀 Shoutout Scorsese, w film & peep the UMass shout 👀 oh AND WHAT AN ENDING – did NOT see that coming

I always LOL with the scene where Nicholson is in the theater and he surprise Damon with his dick on hands, that was funny and weird.

Gostei muito desse filme, a história me prendeu do começo ao fim.

D
Yet another solid movie by Martin Scorsese, no surprise there. The acting was phenomenal across the board, with everyone lying their asses off at every chance they got. The plot with the two polar opposite main characters was refreshing to see, although it was pretty tame, and the plot twists were meh at best, with the second rat being underwhelming. William getting shot was also as predictable as it gets after he walked into that building, no clue what he…

Still such a banger. The build up is done so well, there are so many thrilling scenes, the movie has so much well written humour and the acting is just top notch. My second favourite Scorcese movie behind Shutter Island/10

love the boston accent “microprawcessuhs” so brilliant i was attentive the entire time. mouth was genuinely agape at the end. i also love what scorsese did with the rat at the end there. see because rat the animal… rat the snitch… haha humour to summarise: flip phones and pistols

I fucking hate Mark Wahlberg, I don’t know what it is but he pisses me off in every movie. And this is the film I hated him the most in. Anyway, I didn’t enjoy for the first two acts but the third one really paid off. The ending could be seen as more of a gag but I liked it. It was confusing as hell but not impossible to figure out which made the mysteries so much more interesting. Sad…

The departed is truly a masterpiece in modern cinema with a crazy cast. All the performances in this film is crazy good and no one did a bad job, Jack Nicholson had the best performance and acting in my opinion in this film. It’s always something that’s happening in this film and it never becomes boring in any way, it’s always intense and interesting. I think this shows how good Martin Scorsese is at what he is doing. Mark Wahlberg…

My first time seeing it at a cinema and I noticed so many awesome details like grease stains on Ellerby’s shirt when he looses his temper or the way Frank splashes the water in a similar way to the way the blood splatters later in the film. Also a surprisingly fun film for a date 😌

I’m gonna go have a smoke right now. You want a smoke? You don’t smoke, do ya, right? What are ya, one of those fitness freaks, huh? Go fuck yourself. Still immensely overrated but can be dumb fun if you turn your brain off. The actors are obviously having a great time. The Madolyn character was so underdeveloped and not needed. Nothing comes of her two major story beats (Leo’s last meeting and her pregnancy). At least 20 minutes could be cut without the character and the pacing would really benefit.

This used to be one of my favorite films but on re-watch its flaws become evident, specifically theres two things that rewatch anoy me, 1) the twist that Frank is a FBI informant is fucking stupid. It makes frank feel less ‘evil’ and while I enjoy Jack Nickelsons preformance the twist feels un-nessicary 2) Mark Wahlberg is so anyoing. His dialogue seems like its written by a 14 year old trying to fit as many swere words in as possible.…

I know it’s not the most “prestigious” of Scorsese’s films, but I gotta say I love The Departed. So entertaining from start to finish. Great cast. And such a satisfying ending as well. Simply phenomenal.

Really fun performances with some real tension. Nicholson’s unhinged, elderly mob boss is both entertaining and scary. The moral of the story is that Marky Mark will outlive everyone, despite being an unlikable cahcksuckuh.

This movie was made at the exact perfect time. If it was made any earlier the cell phone tech might not be up to snuff, but if it was made any later they would all have smartphones, which is lame (you can’t flip open an iPhone with a samurai sword sound effect)

I was pretty excited with this film because of its stacked cast and man did they deliver. Leonardo DiCaprio is as good as ever and was probably my favourite character along with Jack Nicholson who was great as a mob boss. Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg’s performances were also good. The writing was great especially when they are on about cranberry juice and periods. The story is also great, I love the concept of two rats each trying to figure…

I’ve been due to watch this for a long time. Scorsese is a fascinating director to me. His movies don’t have fluff to them. It’s direct and to the point. Even the way it’s cut and shot. It doesn’t leave room for error or for your mind to wander. You must be fully absorbed and in it. The more of his works I’ve seen, the more I come to appreciate his style and how nothing is over explained or emphasized. What a cast. What a city. What an accent.

With crime being a specialty of Scorsese, I can’t help but feel upon re-watching this that he found a specific balance of pacing here with The Departed. It’s not my fav from him in the genre, but it plays out very much like a thriller. The suspense is high all throughout with nail-biting exchanges that you know eventually will not end well. Goodfellas and Casino, for example, truly take their time in setup, there’s this grand understanding of the world,…

One of the underrated aspects of this perfect movie is the editing. The story does not sit still. In the first 3/4 of the movie there are effectively no “scenes”, just one continuous time ripping montage weaving together several narratives. It’s fast and chaotic, but still coherent. Truly remarkable.

An underrated masterpiece from Scorsese. A stacked cast where everyone on screen gives a phenomenal performance, with DiCaprio being the obvious standout in my opinion. The character origins are well developed and interesting, allowing you feel grief for both sides of the battle the entire time. The camerawork is obviously flawless, dialogue is funny when necessary but serious and profound during more emotional moments. The plot is perfectly written and executed with each new discovery adding another layer of depth…
