If you think I’m not gonna give 5 stars to a movie where Jason Statham fist fights a guy using coconuts as boxing gloves then you don’t know me at all🤜🥥! Although, my favorite scene is where he flips that lady over his head so he can steal her jet ski🚤. And then he drives the Jet Ski on to the road🛣️. Actually, maybe it’s when he beats up an entire room of men using a water hose.💦💀 Or when the villain🔫 (who’s always wearing a bikini for no reason👙) licks Jason Stathams face (also, for no reason).👅 Maybe it’s when he defies gravity by flying a car through a building.🚙💨 Or… actually just watch it🤷♀️. Every scene is so iconic & hilarious🤣. It’s a perfect movie!🏆

The sequel moves its turf to Miami with an over saturated tone, and gets set as an exaggerated kidnap/rescue action thriller. Jason Stathom continues his usual cool n sleek form. The story, narrative, CGI and the rest of cast are a Nah, but the more focused n pumped up action blast makes it for a passable average entertainer.

Surprising that Transporter 2 scored a little lower here in Letterboxd compared to its predecessor because this sequel is improved, more fired up and delivered high octane car chase scenes one after the other. The fight scenes are beautifully choreographed too, and the more serious tone fit the bill. Yes, the plot is dumb and nonsensical, the pacing is languished, the villains need acting workshop, and the CGI is The Mummy Returns levels of crap but there’s no denying Transporter 2 tried to correct The Transporter’s mistakes. I blame these errors on the runtime which is a tad too short at 80mins. Maybe 10mins more could’ve made the edit better? Still, Transporter 2 is a serve for both fans of Jason Statham (like me) and action junkies in general.

A child in peril action movies have a certain trashy je ne sais quoi to them all their own, but when Jason Statham uses two halves of a watermelon as boxing gloves, you know you are in the presence of ᑕIᑎEᗰᗩ. Often imitated and sometimes seemingly duplicated, it may be overcooked, Matthew Modine-adorned mayhem, but my God is this a mid-2000’s garbage crime/action art form all its own.

one of the great trashy overcooked sequels, this is totally statham’s bad boys 2/man on fire, a golden-hour slice of excessive & sweaty miami mayhem, statham flipping cars in mid-air, beating up dudes with a water hose, bashing a dude with watermelons on his fists, riding a jet ski onto the road, killing a dude with a boat, fighting the big bad in zero-gravity while a shitty ps2-looking plane falls into the ocean… not a minute goes by in this without something crazy happening. 00s cinema in retrospect was a great period for mid-budget action ludicrousness, where CGI was new/cheap enough to get away with looking bad and the lovably garrish MTV/matrix stylistics hadn’t yet fallen out of fashion. transporter 2 is a perfect example of fun filmmaking that we’ve lost in the age of mega-franchises and IP.

There is so much geographical inconsistency to really make an effective joke. Let’s just say Miami in the movies is typically Brickell, SoBE, and the occasional palm tree. I have to see the others to really see how different in quality the rest were.

I watched this with two of my favorite comedians doing commentary. Them shitting on the film was the only thing that made it bearable. Everything about this movie is so stupid. It’s hard to follow up on such an entertaining first movie as the first transporter. The event in this movie goes on a larger scale and the bad guy does not have a chance to show his sword skills. Definitely worse than the first, but much, much sillier. Also the wife is the same actress as in Gamer. So there’s that. Watching this after Full Metal Jacket is a trip cuz of how Mathew Modine is giving actual effort into playing the lame cuck father. Also Kieth David is here and he’s not really acting. He’s mostly just being himself and making faces instead of reading lines and I love that. Get your bag Goat. That’s my fav for a reason.

Watched on a plane. Pretty bad. And definitely not an improvement over the first one in any way. We move from Marseille to Miami, which makes for a way less interesting vibe. The plot makes absolutely no sense at all, the bad guys’ plot to assassinate drug enforcement officers is the most convoluted scheme imaginable. Kate Nauta’s character is also incredibly cringeworthy. And then there’s all the puzzling callbacks to the first film. The only thing that redeems this are the solid fight sequences. Statham once again displays some genuine martial arts skill.

- Synopsis
- Professional driver, and former Special Forces officer, Frank Martin is living in Miami, where he is temporarily filling in for a friend as the chauffeur for a government narcotics control policy director and his family. The young boy in the family is targeted for kidnapping, and Frank immediately becomes involved in protecting the child and exposing the kidnappers.
