Fuck yes. I love it. All of it. From the classical opening giving way to a rollicking rock ‘n’ roll tune, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is something different than fan-service for disgruntled internet complainers. It is a luscious tribute to 50s B-movies and the pulpy comics that inspired them, embracing every glorious quip and every moment of flowering insanity in order to liven the Indiana Jones universe into an old-fashioned burst of blockbuster entertainment. Crystal Skull reminds me of a time when summer popcorn extravaganzas were directed, focusing on the story at hand rather than worrying about the studio’s five-year plan of world domination. Steven Spielberg revels in every silly and goofy quirk in George…

Obviously this isn’t as alchemical as the others and certainly contains its fair share of cringes, but it’s also packed with top-tier Spielberg action sequences (especially in the terrific first half) and wild, indelible images like Indy in front of the mushroom cloud or the guy getting consumed by giant killer ants (cool!). All that makes the final 30 minutes a real bummer, particularly the scowling aliens in their dipshit CGI whirlpool of knowledge, a sequence that structurally mirrors the RAIDERS finale but without any of the squeamishness or terror. Anyway, whatever, I like this, it’s not as bad as everyone says. Full disclosure, I’m friends with a guy who not only helped render the infamously nuked fridge, he also worked on Devastator’s balls in REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. For the record he hates both movies and thinks I’m completely out of my mind.

84 With each revisit of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I have less and less patience for people who disregard it outright. Barring any overt nostalgic sentimentality, which feels based on Spielberg’s contribution rather than Lucas’, this film flies into the future with a clever ‘old man Indy’ spirit and a technological spin. Its narrative of Area 51 and Soviets and Ancient Temples and Fire Ants and Waterfalls and Secret Passages and Aliens (!!!) made sensitive fanboys irrationally angry. So did its plot inconsistencies and so-called “unbelievable” moments, all of which are featured in the fourth entry about a famous archaeologist who carries around a whip and dabbles in christian mysticism. There’s something to this release,…

You may have heard that there’s a scene in Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in which the cinema’s most iconic archaeologist survives an atomic blast by hiding inside of a lead refrigerator. The incident occurs about 20 minutes into the grizzled whip-cracker’s fourth feature-length adventure—widely considered to be the series’ best (note to self: fact-check this later)—and it follows a scene in which a small squadron of Russian soldiers infiltrated Area 51, unveiled an alien corpse, and got derailed by an arthritic part-time college professor who’s so bad at his job that . . . well, these were supposed to be his office hours. So it’s safe to say that, even before the scene in question, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, like the earlier films in its series, doesn’t feel particularly beholden to realism. This movie really made me angry, shocked me and left me feeling devastated. I am not exaggerating. I was about to turn it off. Usually, I never do that and I regret not doing it this time…. I am a huge fan of Steven Spielberg and he will always remain my childhood hero that I admire the most for “Jurassic Park”, “E.T.” and “Catch Me If You Can”. I couldn’t believe what I have witnessed and was truly shocked by…

so fucking awesome. this movie moves away from the more gritty feel of raiders and crusade to revel in this pulpy, campy, glorious joyride of a movie. it might just be my favorite entry in the indy saga because it’s so damn fun. the locations, from spooky graves to jungles filled with crazy critters, are so awesome to see the characters explore. the mystery around the crystal skull gets me SO HYPED with that peak john williams score, EVERYTIME. the…

I hope when I’m 60 I can run around and do side-quests with the squad. This movie makes no sense. It’s super convenient and not really grounded in any reality but at least I had a lot of fun. Harrison Ford is so likeable and Shia Labeouf might be the most underrated thing about this movie. That ending is goofy as heck though. Anyone else introduced to this movie because of the Lego game? 19 years Indians Jones fans waited for a new movie, and we get this. What a crock of shit. The special effects are shoehorned in to please modern audiences and they aren’t even great. Aliens, nuclear explosions, giant cgi bugs. CGI everything. It’s cartoonish and over the top even for a Spielberg adventure flick. But sure, it’s fun and it’s recognizable, so who cares. Just a major letdown. The locations visited in this one aren’t a quarter as fun in…

I was really expecting to hate this, but it wasn’t that bad! When you forget it’s aliens, it’s actually pretty fun and exciting, like the old movies, and trust me the movie does make you forget it’s aliens! Even still, I do think they did the alien thing pretty well, all things considered. I think people hate that it’s aliens and not something else, but remember that Indy’s an archeologist, and the theory that aliens built many structures of ancient history isn’t too far off for an archeology story.

Pure, unpretentious blockbuster fun that captures that classic Saturday-morning serial magic. Sure, it leans hard into pure camp and CGI monkeys, but Harrison Ford’s effortless charm and the breakneck adventure pace make it an absolute blast. 🤠🌴

South Park was correct Spielberg and Lucas did indeed 🍇 Indie in this
-
T
The cgi aged horribly and was horrendous. Spielberg made a movie this year called disclosure day and its about aliens. Idk if its good I havent seen it, but he has an obsession with aliens. Maybe the cgi alien in his new movie is better or maybe it looks the same as this one.

The opening scene with the ford hotrod was cool . Some of the action scenes were ok but the cgi is really not good and the whole alien thing is just ridiculous 3/10
-
A
Enjoyable to an extent for me, can’t say that I had a bad time with it, but many different choices I was not a fan of, mainly the ending. Just doesn’t work for an Indiana Jones film for me. Indiana Jones and Marion are still great together, and I like the addition of Shia Labeouf, but not enough to make this movie much better. Still not bad but definitely the weakest.

T

Nothing about this movie felt or looked real imo. Aliens? Really?
-
A
I thought it was fine. Unrealistic at parts and weird. I feel like 3 stars is harsh but 3.5 is a bit too much.
-
E
Cate Blanchetts severe little bob that just wont quit, good lord. Good villain, very Joan of Arc but sinister. The Indiana Jr plot being stolen for Thundergun: Maximum Cool is so funny. None of the characters were gagged enough by the fact aliens were real for me. I couldnt stop thinking about the manager woman from that episode of peep show who believes in the magical healing powers of crystal skulls.

J
I really wanted to go against the curb and say this movie isn’t actually that bad. Yeah nah this shit’s ass. It’s painfully dull most the time and bafflingly stupid when it’s not. It’s not some franchise ruining dumpster fire, but it still sucks I ain’t even gonna bother with dial of destiny.
-
M
Totalmente innecesaria.
-
H
I can see why people would hate this when it came out because it’s not really a fourth Indiana jones movie it’s like the bonus dlc level at the end of a game that’s just a fun extra adventure but nothing special
-
J
Prime example of why you shouldn’t reboot an old popular franchise if you don’t have anything meaningful to say. Let’s get clearer: I love the wedding at the end and i don’t exactly hate the aliens plot. However, I hate the making, the cinematography, the poor dialogues, the weak explanation as to how Marion and Indy never worked out and suddenly they’re each other’s “love of life”, and the overall weak plot. Indiana Jones Ranked
-
A
Gets way more hate than in deserves. Making Indy a simp for Marion is written way lazier than the aliens. John Hurt and Shia are doing a lot of work to make this good. I love you Tár but that accent is bruuuuuutal. It’s playing the hits but it’s playing em pretty damn good. I like that the sets are real. F*ck the volume.

Best IJ movie Very adventurous and funny Ferfect chemistry between jone’s family

There’s a lot to dislike here. The nuke fridge, the unnecessary alien plot, elderly Indy, Shia. However the real shame is the over use of CGI, which didn’t age well, and the loss of charm the older ones had with practical sets and effects. There was something here that had potential but it was too late. South Park described it best..

-
L
If you hate fun just say that. This film is so much better when there’s not a reddit-pilled RAT sat next to you chirping about a lead lined fridge. This is the same Indiana Jones that used a dingy as a parachute and has been dragged behind a moving vehicle more times than I’ve had hot dinners. ITS JUST A BIT OF FUN. I’m actually very angry and upset that some PEOPLE (Robert Pritchard) cannot watch this from a place of whimsy and fun.

Watching Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in the cinema was the single most disappointing movie watching experience of my life. It made me realise that Indiana Jones was my franchise much more than Star Wars, those prequels were disappointing sure, but no where near this.

RETURN I’ve returned to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull back where I found it eighteen years ago, in a movie theater. It’s not the same one of course, but I’m not sure if the theater I saw it in when I was six even exists anymore. This movie gets far too much hate in my opinion. Then, whenever I hear someone defend it, all I hear is that it’s “not that bad,” implying that Crystal Skull…

this one wasn’t too bad. there were things i liked about it and things i didn’t like as much. those were the most aggressive ants i’ve seen in my life. kinda iconic??? but also frightening didn’t like the kid character. he was moderately annoying and i feel like he didn’t do much for the plot aside from being “guy with a bike” in general just felt kinda fan service-y… i can’t describe how. just felt that way to me still…

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a weird one for me. Indiana Jones is my childhood hero, so when I first saw this movie when it released in 2008 me and my Dad were lowkey disappointed. It didn’t feel the same as the Trilogy we’d watched together as I was growing up and we both wrote it off as abit of a mess. Then after years me and my friend decided to re-watch it, and of course, I have thoughts.…

Oh boy, this doesn’t hold up so well upon rewatch. Definitely one of Spielberg’s worsts. It’s good that his trademarks elevate the flawed script yet maybe he shouldn’t have directed this one because it anyway feels more like a George Lucas Star Wars Prequels type project than a Spielberg Indi movie. There are some good moments, the motorbike chase and the eerie Nevada Test Site model town scene before the explosion are fun. I like the fluent Spielberg / Kaminski…

The fourth installment in the series, released 19 years after the previous film. This film, which was met with high expectations from ardent fans, went on to win the “Worst Remake or Sequel” award at the 29th Razzie Awards. The reason is obvious, and anyone who has followed the series so far would likely agree. Up until now, the series has skillfully navigated the line between reality and fiction, depicting the unknown powers of various ancient ruins and artifacts while…

Harrison Ford’s age is not the problem, nor some silly jokes, nor geographical and historical innacuracies, not even the extraterrestrial plot. I believe technology can be a helpful tool, but the abuse of it, summing all I mentioned above, can be deadly in an action/adventure movie that is supposed to be entertaining, and even deadlier if that movie is bringing back one of the greatest heroes in movie history after a 19 year hiatus. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg decided…
