A solid impotence thriller! (new categorization i’m workin on of action movies for guys whose whole thing is “if i beat up enough people my son will finally call me dad and my wife will fuck me again”) Odenkirk is great here! I know we’re all shocked that HE’S the star of an action movie, but– he’s a handsome white guy! Every one gets at least one (1) action movie. Even if you’re funny. Especially if you’re funny! People love to see a funny guy do something serious and go “whoa… i know this is crazy but he’s actually really good at not being funny.” The trio we get at the end is so perfect! Christ I was playing snakes and ladders with the volume, at times it was like they were playing the longest game of fucking Chinese Whipsers and other times it was like they had the microphone in their mouthes. Nobody is heavily inspired by the John Wick films in the sense that a quiet and unassuming man turns out to be the wrong person that the bad guys fuck with and never really have a chance once they piss him off enough. And whilst I don’t think this film reaches the heights of any of the John Wick films. It’s still a fun enough watch.

i like that it avoids the “honourable revenge power fantasy made for middle aged fathers” by the end by just making the main character a total whimp and psycho who genuinely enjoys violence. it speaks to the small part in all of us that just wants to stop holding back and go nuts. total action slop but its pretty fantastic and very charmingly written. and bob odenkirk is amazing as always. his dad was my favourite character

I found the movie definitely more realistic than other movies with the same genre. We follow the story of a dad and husband, who is an ancient CIA agent. Contrary to other movies like this one, the protagonist is not invincible or untouchable, he gets hit, punched, throw through a window… The movie well mixes between comedy and action, there are some scenes comic, and a lot of scenes of action. By the way the action in this movie is definitely peak. And Bob Odenkirk is just fire wtf he is done for action movies so far

am… WELL… this movie was actually insane 😭 like… I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Such a phenomenal, flawless, beautiful film… literally one of my favorites now, NGL. Hutch Mansell was such a badass main character, but David?? oh… he absolutely SLAYED. The way Christopher Lloyd played him, the shooting scenes, that whole “grandpa is NOT playing around” energy… ICONIC 😭 Bob Odenkirk was also incredible as Hutch — the whole transformation, the action, the attitude… everything just WORKED. I was genuinely obsessed. Honestly… what a film. What. A. Film. 10/10, absolutely flawless. no notes.

If you enjoy a good fight scene, Nobody is a must watch. It’s the perfect thing to throw on a weekend when you have 90 minutes to spare. This was merely ok. Odenkirk was great, but there was an impatience to the whole thing I didn’t like. The bad guys were barely built-up, and Hutch’s backstory was thin. Didn’t care about the family either, so it turned out to be a bit of a one-man show. Some decent set pieces, sure, but I tend to like more meat on the bone to back up the action. I did like that it was more brawler, than the precision combat that’s been popular in recent years But the 90 minutes were slow to pass, and I’m less interested in the sequel now.

The beginning had me super invested, I loved the mysteriousness, and thriller aspect. The action was intense, especially during the bus fight. My one critique with this movie, was each fight scene had a slow motion sequence with odd song choices playing over it. It felt a little too redundant for me, especially during the final fight, but the first few were great.
