surprisingly not as dire as i’ve heard; they cut-up frank miller’s legendarily insane robocop 2 script into two halves, this being the latter portion, and it definitely feels of a piece with its predecessor (your mileage may vary on that, but i love the hell out of robocop 2, so that’s a plus for me), so everything should be great, right? nope; the main obvious flaw is that this is one of the most PG-13 films you’ll ever see, made even more painful by its status as a sequel to some of the most violent american action films in history, with thousands of guns being fired and no one bleeding. there’s not even really an effort to render graphic violence…

Hell yeah, this film shits on RoboCop 2, but I still prefer the original. Crazy stunts, hilarious action, satire is back baby. Surprised by the low ratings, but I’m not going to let that spoil this film for me. What’s aged the most were RoboCop’s flying scenes, given the age and the method, it was expected. The samurai android’s jaw moving scene was so good.

Robocop (Robert John Burke) joins with an underground group in Detroit trying to stop OCP from demolishing their homes in order to make way for Delta City, in Fred Dekker’s sci-fi action sequel co-starring Remy Ryan, Jill Hennessy, John Castle, Nancy Allen and Rip Torn. Even though it’s considered to be the worst in the series, I enjoyed the film more than the first sequel, as it felt more focused and far less mean-spirited. Weller was busy making Naked Lunch and so didn’t return, although Burke is a decent replacement, even if he doesn’t quite give the part the same gravitas. The problem with both sequels is that there isn’t really much room for Robocop to grow after his arc…

Colour me surprised, “Robocop 3” wasn’t actually that bad, especially considering the horror stories I’d read before watching this film. Sure, it’s not perfect, the budget is clearly lacking (or at least not put to good use), and the film also has some gnarly B-movie acting in places. But whilst the film falters in those departments, it makes up for it by being genuinely fun as it changes up the solemn, super serious tone of the first two entries and adopts a more comic book tone. This isn’t too surprising considering Frank Miller (“The Dark Knight Returns,” “Sin City,” “300”) wrote the screenplay. The screenplay shoots for a more straightforward Police procedural as it tones down much of the satire…

A middling sequel with an incredible cast of character actors — including at least four Seinfeld guest stars. (Daniel von Bargen, Stanley Anderson, John Posey, Lee Arenberg, plus Jeff Garlin from the other corner of the Larry David Televisual Universe as “Donut Jerk.”) The cast is so big, in fact, that RoboCop himself becomes a minor character in the story. He doesn’t show up until the first act is almost over, and once he does he’s a bit player in a battle between OCP and a group of Detroit residents they want to bully out of their homes.

this third part is worse than the second, now there are kids, a super dumb robocop and an absurd plot that’s even more boring than part 2, anyway, i was never interested at all but i wanted to give it a chance haha

Why was I watching RoboCop 3? Hey when you’re home sick it’s good to just dive Into some mindless cinema…plus this movie has one of the most eclectic combinations of character actors Ive ever seen: -CCH Pounder -Stephen Root -Rip Torn -Mako -Bradley Whitford -Lee Arenberg -Jeff Garlin -Shane Black (!) Many returning ROBO cast Clearly it had good intentions and Dekker tried his best but likely hindered by a lackluster script, a PG-13 mandate and Peter Weller not coming back it feels like a setup for a write off.

Kind of fun, some interesting/funny moments, but overall kind of whatever. Never seen the first RoboCop, but assuming it’s better.

It’s amazing how quickly a film franchise can go from iconic to dud. Even more shockingly, Frank Miller wrote the screenplay, and it’s truly awful. Normally his screen plays/stories are at least okay. Some iconic 90s actors help act through some otherwise rubbish scenes, but they can’t save this dumpster fire. The PG-13 rating probably didn’t help it too. Gets an extra half star because jetpack robocop is so shit it makes me laugh. It’s not quite Indian Superman level of hilarious, but close.

So uh after playing robocop rogue city right now a few days ago, Some bits of the stuff about this film has grown on me Ima just name the stuff thats grown and changed for me since I’m too lazy to write my full reasoning >robocop’s actor doing a decent job >the ending >reed and robocop being the only good characters >this film being the conclusion to the main timeline Still a 2.8/10 for this film anyway

Certainly an improvement over the second movie, but this franchise desperately feels out of place in the 90s, when if Canon made this in the 80s, it would probably be kind of decent.

(Example 2 star rating) When I say best of the worst, this is a great example. Why are you watching this instead the original Robocop? Its likely because you are nostalgic, doing a marathon or wanted something campy. Not because its good. Its early 90s fun but not good, Its possible 2.5 stars on my scale is appropriate too but often I would just prefer rewatching Robocop 1 or 2 or some other movie over this one.

Ridiculous and terrible and yet I’d watch it for Jill Hennessy as a scientist and CCH Pounder as a street fighter. I am shallow, I am tired, I have lost my edge and my meaning, exactly like Robocop in this movie. Alas, I do not have a jet pack.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s there was a running gag about the increasing number of sequels to popular franchises, but I had to ask: could there be a better day than one spent watching the first three RoboCop movies? I can’t imagine one. The third entry sees the return of ED-209, the ever-present (though slightly toned down) comedy, some impressive set design, and the exact kind of atmosphere you’d want in a movie like this. I gotta admit I…

Flatbot. Trope-o-cop. Really good actors with a bad script make for quite a clunker. When I was a kid I would of argued this was my favorite because that is the target demographic. JeTpAcK!?!? Otomo (the killer robot) could of been really cool but unfortunate times made for too many stereotypes. I really felt for the refugees but I hated the little wiz kid orphan. Most of the darkness has been lifted from this franchise as well as the blood budget. The new suit looks like crap and the new Robo actor was bad and he has baby teeth.

‘We’re dead, you stupid slag!’ As far as renowned bad movies go, I’m not sure that Robocop 3 fully deserves its reputation. It mostly suffers for trying to follow in the footsteps of such a beloved film, but taken in isolation I don’t think it’s quite as bad as people make it out to be. Its major mistake is trying to pander to a younger audience, an audience that most likely loved the first instalment for its over the top…

-
B
Frank Miller (with Monster Squad auteur Fred Dekker) stages Robocop as an urban western, in which the local cops go rogue and help the humble-but-scrappy city-folk defend their settlement against the multinational colonizers, their ruthlessly modern army, and the scattered lumpenprole deputized to their conquest. Blunt, dumb, mostly unintentionally funny, not very funny altogether. (The moronic Japanese stereotyping falls into the former category.) Peter Weller is missed; the new guy sucks, I’m sorry to say, considering the reported misery of…

Poor writing, the loss of most of the original cast (most critically Peter Weller), a healthy slab of distasteful heavy-handed Japanese caricature, and the absence of pretty much all the cleverness and humor of the original doom this third entry to complete mediocrity. Mildly fun to laugh at, but nothing more.

RoboCop 3 is one of those sequels where you can practically feel the franchise losing everything that made the original special. I’m giving this movie one star, because compared to the first two RoboCop films, this feels like a watered-down, overly childish imitation. The biggest problem is the tone. The original RoboCop was brutal, dark, satirical, and surprisingly intelligent. It used extreme violence and dystopian science fiction to make fun of corporate greed, consumerism, privatization, and the way society can…

“My friends call me Murphy. You call me… Robocop.”Doesn’t that kind of defeat the whole purpose of the character? If you like character actors like me, you’re gonna be happy as a new one shows up every scene that’ll make you smile. Other than that this is just an absolute snore. Whatever commentary or subtext this series used to have is gone, in favor of being kid friendly to an agonizing degree. That kid sucks and is there the entire…

O segundo,…

This cast is insane! EVERYONE is in this movie (except Peter Weller…) Unfortunately the movie does feel stunted by its PG-13 rating but overall it’s decent fun. It tries to do some social commentary but nobody does it quite like Verhoeven. Someone smarter than me could definitely make a comparison with OCP and ICE. While we’re saying acronyms, CCH Pounder is always a treat to watch.

To me this had a huge dip after the first act. Robocop defending kids is a great plot it just failed to stay entertaining. The plot definitely beats out the 2nd film. This film is also the saddest of the trilogy but, the only one worth keeping is the OG.

Well, if number 2 was Robocop: the TV series, this one is Robocop: the saturday morning cartoon show. Definitely completely vapid and pointless as a sequel, but I think I had more fun watching this than Robocop 2. Had a couple of genuinely intentionally funny moments. I’ve done myself a disservice by avoiding this film for thirty plus years. Myself back when this came out would of hated it but my tolerance is a lot better or my standards are so low that I can sit through anything. Don’t know but it was nice to not have to be serious watching a film and just be entertained by the insanity on the screen. If ED-209 can like puppies I can get over myself and enjoy this film. Look forward to a restoration in it’s future. The film we all deserve to see at it’s best.

This is easily the weakest of the original trilogy. Taking away the R-rated violence and darker edge was a huge mistake because those were such important parts of what made the first two movies work. Everything feels much more watered down and generic this time around. There are still a few entertaining moments, and RoboCop himself is always cool to watch, but even he doesn’t feel quite the same without Peter Weller. I’m sure there are lots of valid criticisms of this movie- I’d probably quibble about the first act being kinda tedious and forgettable- but look, Robocop carries his fatally wounded friend through a church, commandeers a pimpmobile, fights multiple android samurais, flies into an urban warzone like Iron Man, and is quippy through it all. It’s a movie that knows what it is, and is what it is. I respect that!

I think getting the dude who made night of the creeps to do a full blown robocop comedy is an amazing idea, but it doesn’t quite get there. The action stinks, there’s a distinct lack of the goat Peter weller, a ton of stuff lifted from terminator 2 and an annoying ass kid BUT when the movie is doing gags, the gags are solid. Murphy driving the pimpmobile as more and more parts of it disintegrate around him, that’s GOLD baby. Evil…

I am now authorized to… be loyal as a puppy. I mean yeah, RoboCop 3 ain’t great. I found RoboCop 2 had thematic value as well as being entertaining, and being noticeably different from the first film. RoboCop 3, on the other hand, feels entirely the same and, to that end, entirely redundant too. I mean, that idea of militarisation of law enforcement that looms over the first two films looks like subtle commentary compared to how it’s presented here.…

They fixed Karen Allen’s hair and hired every great character actor available and yet this is god awful. There’s no satire, there’s no fun, no violence. Robo without Weller is nothing and flying is dumb. I never want to watch this again, this is what I grew up thinking the franchise was. It’s an atrocity when you make Rip Torn a central character in something and it’s unwatchable.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I love the idea of having Robocop team up with a rebel group of disenfranchised individuals and taking on OCP. It might be an overused concept, but watching selfish douche bag business tycoons get their plans derailed by everyday people is a joy to see. Admittedly, this is the goofiest of the three movies. Esse filme me decepcionou. There is a very specific point where a beloved sci-fi franchise stops being a sharp, satirical triumph and simply devolves into a corporate cash grab. Full review on movieswithmacca.com/ Fred Dekker’s 1993 outing, RoboCop 3, is that exact point. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the weakest link in the trilogy. There is a certain weariness that begins to infect sequels after a time. While some movie characters seem able to carry on forever, like James Bond or Tarzan, others get old real fast. Robocop, for example, is a character whose limited dimensions have been exhausted. There is only so much you can do with a creature who is half-man, half-machine. Who walks like a child’s toy. And who eventually disobeys his programming in order to fight for the good guys.…
- Synopsis
- The mega corporation Omni Consumer Products is still bent on creating their pet project, Delta City, to replace the rotting city of Detroit. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of the area have no intention of abandoning their homes simply for desires of the company. To this end, OCP have decided to force them to leave by employing a ruthless mercenary army to attack and harass them. An underground resistance begins and in this fight, RoboCop must decide where his loyalties lie.
