Wes Anderson at his most visually inventive and least emotionally involving. anthologies will do that to ya. starts strong (Jacques Tati! Dirty Tilda! Benicio doing the mr. fox growl a lot), peters out as it goes. fun enough to be worthy of an editor’s burial, which is really the best any of us can hope for in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity.

This film with its wonderfully verbose and charming stories is severely underatted in Wes Andersons filmography, it may be in this reviewer’s opinion a contender for his best. Every story feels like perfect prose translated to film and if you give it the attention it deserves, rewards you with some of the most emotionally charged scenes I have seen, or rather felt, in film. Its simply and utterly perfect. Every inch of detail delights. I never wanted it to end. A true ode to journalism. Magnifique.

Algunas…

87 per usual, a visually stunning movie full of highly aesthetic and symmetrical shots. i can see why the separated nature of the stories wouldn’t be as appealing to some people but i really enjoyed the small yet still present string in each story that connected them. def an underrated wes anderson film

“try to make it sound like you wrote that on purpose”. What a crazy, breath-taking, creative and inspiring ride. As always, Wes delivers a carefully curated experience, with his signature style, cinematography, comedy, dialog and everything we love about him. But the theme of this one is one that really resonates with me. Stories of Creation, different writers display their own perceptions with their particular styles on a specific setting. It was difficult to follow at times, because of its…

I did not know how bad I needed a second watch. There’s something enigmatic about an artist fully realized and creating at the “peak” of their metamorphosis. Especially with how thorough Anderson is within his own style—there’s always something new to discover. Each new film is like a treasure trove of melancholic, dead-pan delivered wit and humor. Watching through his films via his box set has been such a treat. I’ve observed and dissected the seeds planted in Bottle Rocket and…

The French Dispatch His most artistic piece. It’s his most misunderstood work in that people believed it’s style over substance when it doesn’t, it’s a terrifically profound film that dwells in themes of connection, longing, isolation, expression, and impact. It a 3 story anthology and each part is incredible and unique. It can be hilarious, poignant, and revealing. The packaging of the film inserts so much life and expression. There are so many artistic flourishes made, certain directing choices he…

I understand that the form doesn’t work for everyone, but there are some moments here of emotional vulnerability that I feel are the true core of the Dollhouse Style Experiment. I will never forget feeling like a lightning bolt coursed through me when Saoirse Ronan looks through the lock – but I probably should not make jokes about people being struck by lightning in relation to this movie.

«The future.
